I love that you've highlighted the issues that people aren't always comparing themselves to other people, a lot of the time they compare themselves to themselves edited and I think that's the main issue with a lot of filters

I love your honesty and realness! Honestly appearance, editing, social media has been my biggest enemy the past few years but mainly because I'm 23 but unlike most 23 year old girls my age I have 3 young kids.... I am always sitting, scrolling wishing I looked like all these 20+ year old girls I follow. They all have nice bodies, big boobs, big bum, perfect skin, no eye bags, nice eyebrows etc etc. Then there's me, mum tum, spotty skin, eye bags from hell and post partum hair loss! I have myself and my appearance I solely blame social media!! 💗

Yes steph! And then when celebs don't look like that super edited, perfect lighting, perfect makeup and haired ad campaign in person the media drag them through the mud in magazines! Of course they don't look like the most perfect version of themselves 24/7! We're humans and we move and we laugh and pull faces and our skin moves and creases and rolls and wiggles when we sit or jump or walk! 🙄🙄

There's a beauty TH-camr i follow called Stephanie lange who has done quite a few videos on this and similar topics. She compares before and after pictures of celebrities like before they were famous and speculating on possible surgery etc they may have had to achieve their looks. Or like you're saying the edited Instagram pictures influencers post compared to unedited images. Her videos are definitely worth a watch.

The first time I discovered face app or Instagram filters were actually pretty terrifying experiences. I mean I always knew the new insta youth is tuning up their pictures with filters, but I didn't realize at all what madness this has turned into. when I was a teen, the version of tuning selfies was to make a f*ckton of pictures of myself with a digital camera, picking one ore two outstanding good ones and then slightly edit them, like remove dark circles, pimples, create softer lighting etc. and not a lot of people did that, because it still was actual work and skill needed for that back then. you had to do it on a computer, had to have the right programs and additionally needed to be able to work with them. When I found out i'm able to make a freaking supermodel version of myself with one click, I couldn't really believe it, because I always thought that stuff must look super unrealistic, but honestly it didn't. It simply works *too* well. I immediately felt that thing you explained, like being jealous of a version of yourself that never existed and never will in real life, like, it kinda hurts. There was a time when I was overwhelmed by the fact that all those young people on Instagram are so beautiful nowadays and wondered if mankind just evolved into human beings getting more beautiful and flawless, which was kinda a nice thought, but also terryfing not to belong to that evolved generation 😂. I was actually relieved when I found out those filters do in fact exist, but also sad, because people are beautiful anyways and the world really doesn't need those polished beauty standards, it's just so unhealthy. I try to avoid these filters, because I don't want to ruin it for me looking in an actual real life mirror, I don't want to think I'm ugly everytime, just because I see that fake-self too often and get sick of the actual me.
Btw. You're absolutely flawless and pretty all the time, if somebody absolutely doesn't need filters, then it's you. Oh, and you're my fave youtuber when it comes to personality as well, just wanted you to know that 😁❤️.

So, I'm a bit behind here and I've just watched your video. I've never used a face tune type app before and just about of curiosity I decided to give it a go ... somehow, I was also upset that I don't look like the fake version of me. She looks just like me. But somehow completely different. And it pulled on one of my biggest insecurities, my hooded eyes. It pulled my eyebrows and eyes up and I couldn't stop staring at how pretty this girl looked and I don't. Stop the world, I want to get off 😫🤦♀️

Steph sweetheart what you don’t realise is you’re so beautiful, I think you got that pretty bang on only under the eye it I say it because it’s placebo of the Steph we know and love, it had lighter concealer under the eyes. I’ve seen pictures of you do a glam look not only do you make it look easy ,but much better than the fake picture no one could look like that in real life on a daily.
