I seriously can't believe we live in a time when people vote to save human lives.
And US votes against peace
Excellent point. 👏
They are not human

@christophermaxey7023
Who you mean ?
Germany, Hungary and Austria on the wrong side of history once again...
Not surprising really. Shameful
Maybe they realize that the UN vote does absolutely nothing to help people? Just like the UN did nothing to help Balkans until after the killing stopped
Nope
Deep Systematic Racism
Old habits die hard
Can someone please explain why UN sees the need to vote on something so universal as *Protection of citizens and upholding legal and humanitarian obligation* ... Should this not be the non-negotiable rule of the UN...
I mean at least they got a vote. Sadly we are acting as if this is the only tragedy in the world. It's clearly a distraction for what ever horrible things are going to happen.
The statement Australia, Canada and New Zealand made is this, that's what they were voting for. It should've been much clearer: "Hamas must release all hostages, stop using Palestinian civilians as human shields, and lay down its arms. There is no role for Hamas in the future governance of Gaza”
Great question! It’s politics. This is where stuff gets dirty and complex, so a country will vote no for certain interests. Voting yes on this matter may mean that Israel must stop fighting in their war against Hamas. However, Israel does want to fight to remove the terrorists and USA wants to make money by funding Israel with weapons.
because world politics, and very very bad people.
That's right, what is the function of the establishment of this organization? they know but they are so cowardly or just dumb.

People giving excuses like 'oh khamas 🥴' should know that Israeli occupation started in 1948 while hamas existed in 1988 after intifida. According to international law, people under occupation has a right to armed resistance. You can't condemn resistance fighters before you condemn the occupation.
Genocide isn't armed resistance. It is well established that whatever this is, it's not legitimate by international law.
Yea and they should read plan dalet which contains trying to overtake and destroy palestine ot was created in 1948 hamas wasnt even established back then , and they should try the baldour declaration as well .
In 2005, Israel dismantled every single settlement, left behind thriving businesses, and completely withdrew from Gaza. The UN prefer to maintain the Palestinians' refugees status because they get tons of money and power in behalf of the "Palestinian cause".
The UN have 2 refugees agencies - UNHCR for around 100mil refugees around the world, and UNRWA only for the Palestinians.

People here dont understand that ceasfire means more time for Hamas to find weapons and attack again. You can forget about "saving lives" when Hamas doesnt care about its people, with ceasefire or without

Facts
Im happy and let hope US will not Veto that decision.
So they will vote for peace. Then Gaza attacks Israel then what? 🤷♂️. Should we vote again?
A ceasefire now is basically saying, let Hamas continue to exist and cause even more terror next time. No means, NO I do not want to see another terror attack. No I don't want to see Hamas continue to exist.
The logic is “Keep killing people so this other group stops killing”? Here’s a fact none of you want to acknowledge: Hamas’ leaders are in Qatar. Most of its power rests in Turkey and Qatar, nations allied with the US which abides by Israel’s every demand. Israel never made a request that the Hamas leaders in these countries be persecuted, rather they bomb Gaza.
Israel has killed more children than Hamas ever has. Hamas was founded as a reactionary force: Hamas was founded in the 80s, Israel in 48
