Shimano say it's an 'extension' you can add without having to set up again.. Not true! It's a replacement piece and you'll have to cut the line and rethread it all.. annoying! 😡😡
Unfortunately, different manufacturers tend to have different measurements for their reel foot. I chose a 3000 reel for this rod after asking sellers for the measurement of a reel foot for a specific make and model reel. Plus, this old reel that I have on this video is also a size 3000 which barely fits. So based on these, the safest I can tell is that a 3000 size reel is the largest it can accommodate.
Had me worried about the reel size, but fits all mine up to the Diawa BG6000MQ. Angry with Shimano as their site says you can add the 'extension' when set up, no need to re thread! Clearly not true, as it's a replacement piece, not an extension.. 😡
Hi! In the description you say that the transport length in case is 69.5cm while Shimano states in their website that the transport length for this model is 64.5cm. So is the rod size longer than what they officially state? I'm about to buy a Shimano STC Dual Tip that it's supposed to be 57cm long as transport length, but that's all the available space I have in my carry on bag. If Shimano is wrong and the rod is 57.5cm or 58cm long, it won't make it into my carry on luggage. Unfortunately there are no videos about this rod on the Internet, so yours is the closest to it that I could find. Is the stated length by Shimano the case's size or is it the rod's size? Or maybe non of them. Thank you!
Hi Gerard, the case is 69.5cm - which is typically longer than the rod pieces when disassembled. You can transport the rods (without the case) in your carry on as long as there won't be anything there that can cause the rod pieces to bend, etc. I hope this helps. 👍

I personally believe it can. But it may have to do with how you "play" with the fish rather than trying to bully them in.

Just measured it for you and the longest section is actually shorter by 1 mm which makes it 64.4mm. 👍
