hike with me: tararua southern crossing

all done in two days. don't do it my way.
Walked in from Otaki Forks - road still closed but apparently you don't need to take the emergency track, you can get across the slip.
Stayed at Kime Hut overnight.
Walking from Kime out isn't a great idea, it was a just under a twelve hour day. Better off staying at Alpha, or Field / Alpha. Middle section along dress circle is evil, Marchant Ridge goes on forever. But it's all fun and games :)

I think I was at Otaki Forks that same day. I remember seeing that fire on the drive in. Me and my dad did the emergency access track and a loop track at the forks. Didn't go up into the mountains that day though. Did get around to doing the crossing last weekend though, going from hector to Alpha in 100km winds was.... dangerous.
Also what is the actual name for goblin forest? I too just call it goblin forest.
