a tribal deck that has as much of a survival rate as leomon in the anime. which blows because leomon is such an awesome character whose potential is cut short...again like the anime.
Really enjoying the series, would also be cool to have future episodes focus on cards that have phased out of competitive play as well. Cards like Deathxmon or Zwart Defeat that were once powerhouses but rarely see play anymore, definitely like what they used to be. And analyzing why that happened or if they could make a comeback.
I would be very interested in seeing a deck profile for Leomon as he is my Favorite Digimon. I currently have a leomon that backs up Gabumon - Bond of Friendship, but would like to see other neat combos like that. If the newer Leomon cards are going to be yellow it would be neat to see a yellow leomon deck mixed with something.
Leomon is an excellent example in my opinion of an archetype that can be used as a great engine for some other decks but isn't that good on it's own. I actually hope the card game get's more generic engines for the likes of say Meramon, Frigimon, Ogremon, that could be used to assist other decks with some interesting support. I don't necessarily need a dedicated deck (though I wouldn't say no) but more variety is always welcome.
So I actually built a green base Leomon deck for a recent tournament my LCS had. It was a Green Deck only tournament where 40 cards and the eggs had to be at least green(multi color cards count as long as it had green). The last 10 cards could be any color. I find that the deck actually draws plenty of cards, I routinely get half my deck in my hand. It leans really heavily into rookies and champions almost playing like armor rush in some ways thanks to the x-antibody cards. Even outside of that tournament I find myself winning games but I'm definitely looking forward to the new green Leomon line coming in bt-14 and the salamon in bt-13.
Its kinda cool seeing a lot of these guesses line up. New rookies to search out leomon, on deletion effects moved to inheretables to encourage stacking, alongside fortitude making so taking advantage of those deletions dont wipe your board, and a real strong heavyleomon to build too. Megachoas might also be a fun option in the future
TBF, in BT13, there will be a rookie that can search all your Leomons. It's BT13-048 Salamon which has the effects: [On Play] Reveal the top 3 cards of your deck. Add 1 Digimon card with [Beast], [Animal], or [Sovereign], other than [Sea Animal] in one of its traits and 1 Digimon card with the [Royal Knight] trait among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Inherited: [Your Turn] While this Digimon has [Animal], [Beast], or [Sovereign], other than [Sea Animal], in one of its traits or the [Royal Knight] trait, it gets +2000 DP. Sala can grab any Leomon or his evolutions at will regardless of colour. The main issue though? Sala is Green. So the two leomon's you'd likely currently see play with (BT1 Leo and EX2 Leo) can't evolve over her. That being said, there's not 0 hope for Green based Leo. In BT14 they did print another Leomon that lets you warp into any Lvl 6 with Leomon in it's name, regardless of colour, when you attack with them as well as has an inheritable to boost it's DP by 2000 if it's a Leomon as well as a new Panjyamon and SaberLeo. Unfortunately, that's where the "good news" for Green Leo ends however. The Panjyamon wouldn't likely see any play in a Leomon focused deck as the lvl 5 slots would likely be filled mainly by BT11 Panjya to play your Jeri's/Give anything you play by effect Rush and Panjya X-Anti so you could play out a Leomon for free when it'd be deleted. Meanwhile the new SaberLeomon, while arguably better than all the other Leomon megas in Green/Blue, would likely still not be able to compete with other Level 6 digimon in Green let alone in other colours. Especially BT13 Leopardmon, which would be it's main competitor, because he's also searchable by the same Salamon and can play Digimon for 4 cost less every turn while also making everything on your board a blocker when you do Really the only "play" I could see right now that might be cool would be to use the BT14 Leomon (evolved on Sala) to swing at one of your opponent's digimon with 14K or less DP, when attacking warp into BT13 Yellow BanchoLeomon, use his effect to pop another digimon with 6k or less DP and then finish the attack over the other Digimon basically taking out 2 things (alternatively, 1 thing with 20k or less) and then have a Blocker for future turns
YES!! Thank you for making this! I got into the tcg lst year, made Leomon and was sad that it wasn't that good. I LOVE Leomon X anti and was bummed it doesn't pop off like other decks. I agree that Leomon needs a whole new line, or at least level 3-4's that have good inheritables! So glad to see this
Honestly, i think it's completely fine that the leomons lack synergy, but i do think that there should be more support for the leomons in terms of blue green synergy And yellow having its own synergy The shells of each strategy already exist. it just needs more tweaking I think yellow leomon could be fantastic. Imagine another leomon that can in the trash spawn itself when it leaves the security stack and a new loader leomon that can recover if you have 5 or less
One of my friends showed me a deck that uses Leomon with it’s boss Digimon being Imperialdramon (my favorite Digimon) and I want to build it to see how it’ll fare
I don’t know how feasible it is but it would be cool to have you update these videos if the decks become playable (like now after EX5) and talk about what improvements were made and how you think the archetype is doing
I once messed around with a version of leomon focused on a blue baseline that went to a green “top-end”. I proxied the bt14 gomamon (which plays itself from sources if you’d be deleted on the opponent’s turn) and used the Bukamon that gave you memory when playing cards from sources. The deck rarely went higher than lv5 for Panjyamon (and its x antibody variant) since you didn’t want to lose out on playing Leomon before your deletion. Overall, it was a fun deck with aggression to spare (memory too thanks to all the tamers you played through panjyamon). Unfortunately, it would often end up with small hands, due to having your only method of refilling it being reliant on EX2’s Jeri and Leomon.
The support problem is getting worse cuz we just got spoilers for a leomon searcher rookie. Problem is its green and black when the best ones are in blue. They have a problem with giving support but giving it to the wrong side of the color pie and if we at some point get 3 color eventually or a bridge then we can have a good blue green black leomon deck that may work
what are your thoughts on the loogamon line coming in bt-14 (a couple of months from now) I know that bt-13 hasn't release yet but I'm pumped to see what tose cards can do. On another note a series about looking at how good some cards could be before they launch could be a interesting idea for a video.
You gotta add time stamps/sections to this, would make the whole thing feel a lot more put together/professional. No reason not to when TH-cam has made it so easy at this point.
Surprised they haven't done a suicide mega for a Leomon deck yet, something like Ravemon or ShineGreymon: Ruin mode. Maybe give it a Gammamon style effect where it gains the On Deletion effects of all Leomons in its digievolution sources.
So Liollmon is confirmed for Ex5, being in the art, think that will have an impact on the archetype at all? Could easily see Lioll and Lia get that alt name text to count as leomon
And even then, bt14 is coming out with a green Leomon line and, even then, it might have a good Saberleomon and a Leomon that can warp into it but the synergy is lacking. You might use bt13 Salamon as a searcher but Leopardmon is a more consistent deck.
So um . . . We just going to ignore the fact we had bt14 leomon stuff revealed all the way back in May? Like its not going to sky rocket the deck but it was stuff that gives us synergy with dino tiger and chaosmon as well as gives us 4 swings worth of checks with the proper stack....
Leomon has three flaws... His death effects are put in decks that don't recycle cards like purple. His Jerri cards are good, but struggle to compete against other blue tamer cards. The final problem... Lack of synergy. They are not bad alone, but most decks (especially now) relay upon synergy with their other cards.
Not sure if this should be a not being played as the Leomon engine is run in a lot of engines like blue hybrid, Leomon rush etc. it’s mainly the top end that sees no play. It’s not like the Eosmon video you had. Not trying to be mean or anything I just think this engine is a lot more splashable in decks.
was this recorded before the green leomon support for BT14 was revealed? Looks like the archtype will be indexing into swinging over the enemies digimon
The reason so many decks aren't played is because the game has a major flaw. There isn't any proper interaction. Because of this, lower tier decks can't keep up. Ultimately the game promotes the play style of "play the meta, or not at all." I'm hopeful for the future of the game with ace cards.

Literally just built a leomon deck and Im loving it. Its a very different play style than most meta decks, but the aggro it gives is really nice

They skipped out on bancho burst mode and marcus’ dad as a tamer in bt13.

I play leomon package currently at my locals in my ancient gabubond deck, it does good for a alternative way to play gabu bond
