Hi Luke. I'm Alwex from Manchester UK. My car is a Vauxhall Ampera. Thank you for this video and is good to know that our Super Car is strong in winter with low tempetures.
Interesting video! If you're not already using it, Amsoil Signature Series 0w30 or Mobil1 AFE 0w30 would be a great choice for the super cold temps your Volt sees. Great to see the Volt starts right up! Thanks for posting.
I was able to finally a get a First Gen Volt, a 2013 one with 63,000 miles on it in late December 2023...right before the temps here in Minnesota dropped off the face of the Earth. I Remote Started it in temps as low as -10 and it started right up. I live in an apartment so I can't keep it plugged in all the time but there's a public charger less than a mile away that's dirt-cheap to use (I could fully charge it for less than a dollar). It will show 'Propulsion Power Reduced' for a few minutes after I start it if it's cold enough but that goes away once the battery warms up and the more charged the battery is the less likely that will happen. Update: A couple of weeks after I got it I discovered that the tires were in need of replacement due to age so I had some Bridgestone Weatherpeak tires put on. They're 70,000 mile rated touring tires....that are rated for Severe Snow Service. Since I've had them I have never had the Traction Control so much as come on once.
You can set the engine heating assist off if you want to and the engine wont start while you're plugged in. Me I just cant seem to stop my windows from fogging up.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you; an actually informative and interesting TH-cam video in 2020. Thank you!
-40°! You win. The tempurature fahrenheit and celsius converge. Good to know exactly what winter tires are good.
Get Michelin or blizzak snow / ice tires….they’re fantastic.
I knew anthony hopkins drove a volt!
