Rolando is the my favourite opera singer of the entire life. He don't just sing, he ACTS AND LIVE THE CHARACTER. My first time watching an opera was Contes D'Hoffmann where he was doing Hoffmann. I watch others versions of this opera and for me Rolando is the best Hoffmann ever and ever.

Pues coincido con tu gusto totalmente. Kraus lo interpreta con suma elegancia, a Villazón le falta la nariz roja. En cuanto a la parte vocal, la dicción no es la mejor, ni el fiato. Y es todo tan agresivo y carente de sutileza...como bien dices, para gustos colores. Yo me quedo con el tenor canario sin lugar a dudas.
Este señor parace q tiene el demonio en todo lo q canta. Es esperpentico. Villazón hace q Domingo parezca un muerto en escena y mira q Domingo también es exagerado. Pero este griton se gana la palma.
nadie me pregunto pero en lo personal Villazon no me gusta en todos los roles que ha abordado. Este es uno de ellos, se me antoja sobreactuado, personalmente me gusta mucho mas le versión de Kraus. Cada quien sus gustos

My little child, you even saw this opera sometime in your life? We're talking about opera, a musical theatre with emotion, feeling and poetry. Contes D'Hoffmann is about a drunk and (for me) mad man that says about your love life of the past. Opera singers (principally tenors) are blessed if can sing loud, because means that you sing with emotion and IN TUNE, and for me, a opera singer that doesn't know how to put emotions in your voice is a waste of time. Cuando haces lo que quieres con las partituras siempre cantas bien está claro.
