    Just curious, didn’t they come with a cowl induction hood?

      Good point. My Buddy had '69 Z with a flat hood back in 1975. It did not have chrome side fins or chrome rocker panels either. It needed a paint job so it was not restored. The Z also had 3 different Tach Redlines.

    Used to watch the show, loved it. Peter is a stickler for details. Nice to see an unrestored Z with correct details so often missed on restorations. Other than having incorrect tires, it's the way it should be. Nice to see a flat hood still on it. Peter is a little off on his pricing though. Not sure how old that clip is but offering $40k for an unrestored real deal Z in that condition will get you laughed at today.

    I think in 2001 that was a fair price for this z28
    now with the survivor muscle car craze double it.

    Wow, that's beautiful and its only original once--302 not a drag strip machine and glad u mentioned high 14.'s because that about all it will do but yes well balanced and they do like to revMiss your old show, what happened?

    Theres a big demand for " matching nos." cars like these in Ontario but in Quebec they dont care to pay high dollars for them!! They just want something that looks good and drives well!!!🤣

    It's not really that rare, Chevy made over 20k Z\28's in 69'. Still retaining the 302 isn't really common has they were often replaced with 350's because torque matters.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It absolutely did, the base SS with the 350\300 was actually quicker.
      The reason is the while the DZ clearly made more than 290hp it's 290lb-ft was pretty close to accurate. The base 4bbl 350 on the otherhand sported 380lb-ft. So right out the gate even with less compression and milder cam it's quicker as it made more average power. Oh yeah put that 30/30 cam in the 350 and you've created proto LT1 350 with 10.25:1 compression. That is exactly what people were thinking in the 70's and 80's too, rather than rebuild the not so rare 302 they swapped in the plentiful and more powerful 350 short block that runs pretty good on low octane unleaded.
      You can rebuild any large journal 4" bore block to the 302 as long as use the the 3" large journal crank and pistons. There's just no reason good reason to do it. For the collector you need a DZ block, for a casual owner you are building a less powerful engine.

      L76 327's blew up too, and they weren't by in large replaced with another engine and they are even rarer. The same could have been done with 302's but it often wasn't because of what I said and does come down the lack of torque in the 302.
      You blow up your hot little 302 find a 4bbl 350 pre 71' and swap the 302 heads and cam and voila you have a 360hp engine that's about second faster in the 1/4 mile. Performance wise you lose nothing and gain a little hp and very healthy amount of torque between the peaks.

    I was really into this video, great looking car. I was right with Peter as he complimented the car until he valued it at 40-50k.....HAHAHAHAHa ....Peter must have been on glue that day. These original unrestored cars I would say are more like 80k all day and going up.

      bullitt65 This is an old recording man....2001. So yeah, correct price for that year.

      I know a guy who bought a completely restored one for $50K a month ago. You are right that $80K sounds like the going rate in 2017. He made an instant $30K profit from this.

    • @bullitt65
      @bullitt65 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not necessarily. You said he bought a "restored one" for 50k. Restored does not bring as much as unrestored in original condition like the 69 in this video. This 69 or similar examples of unrestored cars will always go for more than a restored car. "You can restore a car many times, but they are only original once" .
      Depending on the color and options, a restored car with verified numbers matching drive train, is in the 50-65k range. Unrestored depending on options is about 80- to even 100k, again depending on options.
