This whole chapter was beautifully drawn, some fantastic paneling and shots of Casca, the world tree and Griffith at the end there..Casca is strong and the truths shall be revealed to Falconia 👏💜
Some people legit claim these new chapters feel like they were written by amateur fans instead of the real thing. Pretty insulting. They're clearly just grasping at straws because they WANT the Post-Miura stuff to be bad.
Maybe they have a deep-seated grudge against the series for not always being nihilistic and hopeless.

Griffith wants Guts to become an Apostle, possibly with the Behelit he's been carrying since Black Swordsman.
Griffith might say he doesn't care about Guts anymore, but I think he does. Immensely. Even now, long after Guts first left the Hawks, Griffith can't let go of his grudge. He wants Guts back under his control.
Hell, Guts walked away a SECOND time to pursue Casca when he decided that revenge wasn't worth it anymore. I bet Griffith saw that, and it set him off like nothing else.
So his newest, most effective means to possess Guts is to tempt him into performing a sacrifice and becoming a beast that's instinctively obligated to serve the Godhand.
If Ganishka couldn't resist the Godhand, Guts definitely wouldn't stand a chance, especially now.
Casca being held at Falconia is a backup trap for Guts, just in case his collapse on Roderick's ship wasn't enough to activate that Behelit. He took Casca because he wants Guts to keep pursuing him until he has him exactly where he wants. He won't let his ambition crumble, no matter what. Any threat must go.
Here's the best part, though.
Despite wanting to control and possess Guts, Griffith has unknowingly let himself fall under GUTS' control, because a lot of his actions behind the scenes have been a reaction to Guts' free will.
Guts was able to let go and walk away, more than once, in fact.
Griffith refuses to let anything go, even now, when he has everything he wanted.
This confirms the big truth between these two characters that everyone subconsciously knew, but never really put to words. The one thing that REALLY sets off Griffith.
Guts was never inferior to Griffith, nor was he his equal.
Guts was superior to Griffith. He was always the better man.
Griffith simply can't tolerate it, and that might just be his great undoing.

I wonder how much Sonia actually knows. Her story about the ducks implies she thinks herself above others but she doesn't appear to be a monster like Griffith. She demonstrated some kindness to Schierke in warning her about the Kushan invasion but maybe she just sees certain people like her as special. It might explain why she thinks that Griffith's plans won't negatively affect her. It will be interesting to see what she makes of Casca. Casca was a lot like Sonia in her idolization of Griffith and she was also overlooked by Griffith and treated like a tool. Maybe seeing what happened to the last one of Griffith's tools might make some cogs turn.
It's an interesting thought but honestly I think Sonya's too far gone. That bitch crazy my dude. She's definitely the type to watch demons do some horrible shit to a bunch of totally innocent people and just smile like "oh its fine cuz Griffith commanded it". She's inhaling that Griffith copium and has totally abandoned whatever moral compass she might've once had.
About Rickard, it seems his Pimp Slap was powered by Griffiths true name, Femto.
During the exposition dump on the Sword Graveyard, Guts may have told him about it. Guts has not yet got the chance to learn that info iirc, that Astral beings submit to the power of their true name.
And this is a fact about Rickard, never truly hating Griffith, to the point he perceives him as Femto.

In a way Rickard is representation of all the Griffith apologists that dissociate the two. Thus by chance, Rickard has the proper formula to hurt him.

Griffith doubtlessly took Casca out of rash spite. When it comes to Guts he never acts rationally. But now the question is what is he doing with her at this point. Griffith might be trying to keep the moonlight child in check by holding Casca hostage. The moonlight child seems to be Griffith's one weakness. But there's a question over its relation to Griffith. If it can affect Griffith does he affect the child in turn? Is it just a human child or can it use some of Griffith's powers? If the child can manifest any of Griffith's power then it could potentially destroy his empire in one full moon. If it is just a normal, frail child it's potentially a way to kill Griffith. Either way, Griffith needs to keep the child under check and Casca is the key to that end.
Correction, Moonboy was never a normal boy, from the moment he was born he was demonified due to Griffith's... Actions. Before merging with Griffith, he was powerful enough to repel Evil spirits and protect Caska from the devouring bloodblob, and after the merge, he was able to break through the Berserk armor's evil od to give Guts some lucidity, so the kid has always been pretty powerful.

I had this thought as well. I don't think it will be the same though, as in, I don't think Guts will get that bad once Casca is in site again. But before Casca comes back, I am very worried for Guts and everyone around him. They are on a boat and him losing control would be horrible right now.

He hates apostles, and the entire basis of his character since chapter 1 is that he is just a human who is able to overcome obstacles through sheer force of will and without supernatural assistance. It would go against everything guts is if he became and apostle and would be a terrible direction for the story.
Nosferatu Zodd 👹 looks really concerned by something. I also wonder if this, this situation where he is stuck as Griffith's personal taxi driver is what a prideful warrior like him, who seeks to fight the strongest should be.
Griffith want tools and see everyone as such. That can work with the demons and humans people, but Zodd? Zodd it's a warrior, first and foremost. And he it's becoming tired of this pretend fairy tale of Griffith.

You are reading too much into that panel. We've see Zodd be apart from the rest and cross his arms and look stoic many times in the series. You have to understand this is a new writer and he just fell back on the character archetype, and what is a sure thing that the character would do. Zodd has bowed to Griffith before and he's never shown disloyalty towards Griffith, the complete opposite in fact, he's stated to Guts he doesn't care what he does but if he intends to harm the falcon he will not hesitate to kill him. Why would Zodd be against what Griffith is doing now? Makes no sense , he's been Griffiths right hand man for a while and just because it pans to Zodd in his signature pose literally means nothing but he's there in the room.

I wonder if in this case, Zodd could be the "surprise temp. ally" to him. Saving Guts from the imminent death before the other apostles, like all the other times when he did just that. Who knows?

causality is a spiral. certain events don't repeat, but they do mirror each other. when guts and co are with the kushans, they may receive correspondence from Charlotte. She might inform them about Casca's imprisonment and help them break her out like she did years ago.
My theory of why Rickert can strike Griffith is because Rickert has his humanity intact. That's his secret weapon, i think. Guts has been too traumatized and has given in to his darkness too much to be fully pure. But not Rickert. He's mostly innocent and selfless. He's the most dangerous to Griffith because he is the exact opposite of everything Griffith is.
Imagine that right at the very end Guts gets cucked over one last time by not being able to kill Griffith only watch

My take was Griffith kidnapped Casca, all in order to protect his weakened form, when once a month he transforms into the moonlight child. Having her trapped in Falconia when he does transform, he can remain close by and safe, eliminating that potential line of attack against him.
4:05 I think here she actually was realising that she is in a dream or having a dream, not that everything that had just happened was a dream. That's why when she touched her brand it wasn't hurting, I think that's how she figured it out. This chapter is her dreaming over and over, being aware of it too. That's also what Irvine meant by the bird being peacefully in her cage. She's being kept in a dream state of some kind.
The theory that I’ve liked to believe is that Griffith’s transformation into the moonlight child is involuntary. Furthermore, that Griffith specifically seeks _Caska_ upon becoming the boy.
Assuming this is the case, it makes a lot of sense to keep Caska within his domain, for essentially improving his own safety.
Why doesn’t Griffith kill Caska?…maybe he simply doesn’t know if that’s a good idea.
If he kills casca there's no telling what the moonlight child might do as it's clear he doesn't have any control over him

I think he wants to keep Casca close so that when he turns into the Moonlight Child, he doesn't have to go near Guts.
Griffith isn't the type to turn someone into a mutant, I think instead he's just completely fucked up her memory, she's in a daze because she remembers nothing, she could have been here for a week or a year, to her, it seems like she's been here forever because the Palace is all she remembers.
I imagine she relives the events on Elfhelm every night, but like a dream, the memories fade quickly and the "cutting off a dudes arm" thing was just her instincts, like when she lashed out at Guts or the thugs trying to struggle snuggle her
I honestly think Griffith can't be hurt if you attack him with malice. Guts's rage for him makes Griffith untouchable. When guts beat him in a duel back in the golden age guts didn't even want to fight him he just wanted to leave. Rikert was able to slap him because he didn't hate him. Like guts said he never couldn't. Guts will have to come to terms with what has happened and level the play field by wanting to fight him for different reasons other than revenge.
First of all rickert doesn’t have the brand of sacrifice. Griffith being basically the master of his brand could be making him immune to being attacked by guts. Rickert being able to slap Griffith has nothing with to do with him loving or hating him.
I think the reason Rickert could hurt Griffith and Guts couldn't is potentially linked to Griffith still caring about the members of the original band of the hawk, Because when you care about people it's said you can let your guard down around them maybe that is literal in this case as such people who Griffith cares about can bypass whatever defensive ability he has but when the beast of darkness takes over Guts he becomes unrecognizable as such Griffith doesn't acknowledge him as being Guts meaning that Guts can't hurt him while the beast is in control which is also why when Guts is using the berserker armor but isn't being controlled by the beast his face is far more visible so he can take advantage of this theoretical weakness of Griffith's. On top of that it gives Griffith all the motivation to keep antagonizing Guts to provoke the beast because if I'm right no matter how strong the beast gets it simply can't hurt Griffith.

Okay, so I've got a wild theory in my mind but it kind of makes sense. What if the reason Rickert actually managed to physically hurt Griffith was because he didn't hate him?
I know it sounds weird but the Godhand are eldritch beings that make all logic and sense go straight out the window anyway so maybe Femto's powers secretly make him impossible to hurt by those who hate him and obviously there's no one out there that hates him more than Guts and even the sword phasing right through him could also be explained by the weapon being embedded by the dark malice and hatred of all the demons Guts has killed over the years, making it excellent for slaying spirits and the other godhand members but useless against Femto. Not only that but I think Miura also hinted at it way back during the end of the golden age arc when Guts told Rickert "You could never bring yourself to hate Griffith".
Obviously Rickert was angry enough to merit that slap but it wasn't a slap of hatred, rather one filled with sorrow and dissapointment, proving Griffith can be harmed if his assailant holds no hatred when doing so. So clearly Griffith sending his armies east is both to slaughter the Bakiraka and to kill Rickert before he figures out his secret weakness and tells everyone about it. With all this said, my prediction for the future is that, if Griffith does die at the end of the story it won't be by Gut's hand but rather by someone like Rickert or maybe even Casca, her lingering love making her unable to hate him but still willing to do what's necessary in order to save Guts.

I think it’d be a Shakespearean level tragedy if the brand is why guts can’t kill Griffith. I do think we will see falconia reach king giseric levels of size/influence before it falls. Griffith will be winning for a while before things come full circle, he’s literally a god riding around with a demon army and a girl that can read thoughts and see the future
Would make sense, Guts is tied to Griffith by it, so it wouldn't make sense for a sacrifice to be able to kill the... sacrifee? Whatever. Also, we know the DS can cut through the ethereal, but Griffith is so far above everything now, maybe not even the DS can harm him and that's it, both options make sense imo
I think the theory that Sonia is helping Irvine suppress Casca's memories could be true since she did not appear in this chapter. I hope that Casca would try to escape once more to where she can encounter Charlotte, Luca or perhaps Schierke who is searching for her od. If the story doesn't continue with Guts and friends on the ship in chapter 374, I hope we see Casca escape and will not be a damsel again.
Really pleased with how the Berserk IP is being handled going forward. The love and respect is shining through.
I think the Rickert and Griffith situation has something to do with that boy who wanted to become a knight in Griffiths flash back back in golden age.
Someone theorize that Griffith wants Casca close so the Moonlight Child didn’t run away, but he might end up going to Guts
Also another thing that I only caught on in a second watch.... Her brand did not bleed as you pointed. But the apostle that was making surveillance on her, was Irvine. He is known for long range, so clearly, he could be watching from SO FAR, that it didn't affect her brand. She may be in a remote part of the city far form where the demons are. Remember, Falconia is H U G E, and the brand only hurt when demons are dangerously close.
Also something I kept thinking alongside as I watched... The way you organized this video, won't it be a bit hard when you add it to the HUGE compilations? I mean, I enjoyed as is, but I ASSUME you'll want to close of Fantasia art on it's on chunky segment and then add to the 20h plus chonky compilation.

I think in this chapter Casca's memories are slowly recovering.
She cried because she reminded of her old comrades from the original Band of Hawks. And their ultimate fate. That's the trigger.
She keeps recall memories yet unfamiliar with.
When she's panicked and surrounded by soldiers, her defence mechanism Fight of Flight kicks in. The warrior muscle do the rest.
I love this chapter.
Skull Knight says that in order to fight Griffith you would have to be "a being of equal magnitude or an equal layer in the Astral Realm." So either a God-hand member or something greater.
I seriously doubt this means Rickerts slap "scales" to God-Hand member-level or there's some magical secret technique to beating Griffith by simply choosing to be emotionless.
I think it more likely that just like in the Golden Age when Julius slapped Griffith, he simply chose to allow Rickert to slap him as some bastardized "recompense." for sacrificing the Band.
The worst part is even if guts finds a way to kill Griffith he will essentially be killing his child too.
Remember griffith is just a shadow of femto.

When Grif kidnapped Casca, I was jsut "FUCK NOOO!! NOOOO!!! GUTS DONT DESERVE THIS!! FFFUUUUUCCCCCCK!!!!!" fk gonna wait for another 10 yrs before we see guts happy.. FK!
My guess is that since Guts and the group now know moonlight child is the physical vessel of Griffith. He'll be vulnerable during full moon. And since moonlight child will always look for Casca, it is probably safer to kidnap Casca to Griffith's domain..
Even though it'll be very hard for anyone to be cruel enough to kill the moonlight child... but Griffith probably won't take that chance. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s possible that a branded sacrifice cannot damage the one who branded him and that’s why guts can’t hurt Griffith. This was literally the only time when it was clear that Guts is actually close enough to make contact with him.
I think Grifith wants to create the fantasy that the dark hand showed him . Where casca is married to him and guts is his general .
That reminds me... didn't back in the Black Swordsman Arc when the God Hand was shown for the first time, Guts tried to kill Griffith by shooting him with the arm canon by the shot was deflected by some invisible wall? Maybe Guts really can't kill him since he is branded, and those who are branded are incapable of killing those demons that cursed them... unless if he is not able to be killed by "Normal" means.
I think Skull Knight believes his Sword of Actuation could be used to kill the God Hand, but it didnt work on Griffith, maybe only Void?
@@grimwaldsilverpipe4326 Oh that one is easy to answer. The dude can manipulate space itself. If we go back to when Skull Knight breaks through the Eclipse, Femto compressed the space around SK, turning several apostles into a meatball. The Sword of Actuation cuts through space. So basically he grabbed the spatial cut and placed it on Genishika.
As to if the sword would work on Void, the guy showed an ability to open portals, which is also a type of spatial manipulation, so unless his ability is only portal related, who knows
@@grimwaldsilverpipe4326 I mean I assume it didn't work on Griffith because he warped reality so that the cut hit Ganishka instead of him. It's entirely possible that the sword CAN actually harm him, it just needs to hit him first.
His Femto form probably has nothing to worry about from stuff like that given he was able to instantly see what SK was doing, but his ""Human"" form on the other hand was completely taken by surprise via a simple bitchslap, so who knows how that'll play out.
My theory especially after watching your massive essay:
Rickert was able to strike Griffith because for one, he has a personal connection with him and two, he wasn't marked for sacrifice. If Guts or Casca could remove the mark, they would be able to strike him down.
There's been many mentions of powerful characters telling Guts to just let it go. He has 2 paths, if he fights, he might win but will lose everything. If he goes the path of peace, he doesn't get his vengeance. So with that and combined with the moon light child sharing a body, if Guts and Casca bond stronger with the child, the child will overtake the body and shut Griffith out of the physical world, maybe even permanently.
If that happens, Guts, Casca, the child and the party lives in peace foe the rest of their lives while Griffith is stuck in his own Limbo.
That's just my theory though. Anyone else thinking the same?

Obviously, they're fully loyal to Griffith and the Godhand , but its interesting to see those tiny little acts of rebellion.
Especially for these two. The former is the closest thing to a "neutral" apostle we've seen and the latter still likes to see himself as a warrior first and foremost. So being delegated to a jailer for a mentally ill woman and a glorified taxi service probably doesn't sit well with them.
You made a lot of valid points who can say how this great will end. I hope it gets a great ending for guts and casca. One theory I like to put in why griffith took casca was because of the moonlight child within him. Griffith simply can't harm casca if anything he'll protect her from danger which is why he made a cage dreams and illusions for her to keep this weakness in check. Griffith is so powerful they have to give him some kind of flaws to lead to his defeat.
I still want to see Guts fight a dragon with the dragon slayer.

I love the details and focus we get on Casca in this chapter. Despite everything she's been through, the first real thoughts we get from Casca are concern about Guts and her need to get back to him.
I can't remember if you discussed this in your analysis video, but I genuinely think Berserk will end with Casca taking care of Guts. By the end of the story, Guts will become a cripple after using the Berserker armor to protect everyone. However, we know he is not like Griffith. When Griffith was crippled, his life fell apart. He couldn't bear the thought of a quiet and average life. He falls apart when he tried to picture an ideal quiet life, one where he's married to Casca. In his own words, a life like that wouldn't be so bad, and yet...the first thing he does after imagining this is to try to kill himself. Guts on the other hand is different. He has finally learned just how much peace he has from being around loved ones, especially Casca. It would be a huge reversal of roles, as now Casca would be taking care of Guts. But ultimately, I think this fits with a lot of Casca's personality and drive that we saw in Golden Age. She made multiple comments about wanting to be important to someone (helpful, caring, etc.) and about how she feels as a woman and wanting to be seen as one. In this ending, she finally gets what she needs, too.

I've said it a couple different places but I'm really curious if Daiba has an important role to play. The single most world-changing event in the series, the "Great Roar of the Astral World", was caused largely because of his man-made behelit.. the other catalyst being the behelit sword of Skull Knight, who is directly aligned with Guts, Casca, Danaan, Puck with Betchi, Schierke, Farnese, and by extension Rickert, Silat, and Daiba etc. There's some absolutely insane potential power and magic aligned with the party.
You made me think what if rickert could hit him because to his core he didn’t believe in Griffith

I can't find anyone saying it, but maybe its because he said it later in the episode but casca was taken away because griffith knew that moonlight boy form could be harmed so he wasnt taking the risk and took the boys mother to his castle so the boy wouldnt go off to the guts's crew

Got a sneaking suspicion Sonya is testing Casca's strength. She and Griffith need a scapegoat to "assassinate" queen Charlotte, just after she bears a half-demon prince of Falconia... gotta have an excuse why Charlotte was bifurcated during child-birth, right? Make Casca the fall-guy and issue license to hunt everyone associated with her... elfs, mages, the branded, everyone.
He's already hunting mages and destroyed maybe the largest spiritual zone of bening creatures that exists, so I don't think that's the plan. Also childbirth in the middle ages was dangerous as all hell, and plenty of women died during it, so he doesn't need to justify Charlotte dying during it.

The moonlight boy goes back to its parents every months. Griffith took Casca so that every month, the child will stay (or go back) to Falconia instead of where-ever-Casca-is.
I am guessing Rikert was able to slap Griffith because Griffith did not expect it (the Godhands are not gods and cannot foresee everything). No mystical power, just a misjudgment from Griffith. Next time they meet, Griffith will be able to avoid the hit.
