I can dig this as well. Georgia boot, Wolverine, and maybe a couple others. I specifically wondering if you’ve done any of the Wolverine moc toes. I see mixed info/reviews about the i90. Some places says it’s American made with a Goodyear welt and some places don’t really say.

I went with the Carolina CA7811 (steel toe), partly because it's US made in a union but mostly because it was just the most comfortable out of all the ones I could try, including Red Wing and Thorogood. I really wish you'd do more steel toe boots, even if you dedicated a second (third) channel just to safety toe work boots.

Love you having to reassure the men to stick around and explain to them there are women in their life who might enjoy boots lol. As one of your female fans I went from getting knock off docs, to real docs, to Nicks, to omg I can't wait until my nicks arrive so I picked up some Redbacks while I continue to wait for my Nicks Urban Loggers in about a year's time. I might not do construction anymore, and I wish I had looked into quality boots then, but I can still appreciate something that's going to last, something that's going to hold up, something that will be just as comfortable on cement floors or a wooden stage, in my garage, traveling or anything else I put them through. I'm a little curious to see if TSA questions why there are so many nails in my boots when I take my Nicks to Germany

So glad you got your hands on a pair and got to rank them, totally agree with all rounder status. I climb trees, do light work, lots of walking (college campus), and much much more in them.

I have to agree too. I put a pair through 9 months of extremely hard factory use including lots of chemical exposure and my 300 pound bodyweight. They are captive boots, so I did not condition them. They are almost as good as new now that I put new insoles in them last week.

I have the 1907's. I don't have the Grantstones. I would also put the 1907's at #1, but strictly by personal preference. I completely believe that looking at materials or construction quality, the Grantstones may have a slight edge (though I think some of the "advantages" are preference based). Being that I am a regular guy living in the real world, though, I have to admit that some things that might not objectively matter or things that we are supposed to ignore in certain instances for the sake of comparison are still going to matter to me. I like the heritage and history of Redwing. I like that the 1907's are made in USA. I also very much appreciate the value of the 1907's, looking at what I get vs what I have to spend. So, when I look at the fact that the 1907's cost less while simultaneously being made in USA, along with the very high quality of the boots, it's an easy choice for me.

One of my favorite moc toe boots for work are the keen Cincinnati comp toe work boot, the boot is great, I am going onto year 4 wearing the same boot for work with no complaints. The only thing I have done to the is a resole and they put the Redwing sole on them. Little breakin time and leather has lasted thru my ethanol job.

Great video Rose Anvil with all pertinent information listed 👍It would be nice if you could do a specific safety toe series on who makes the best safety toe for the money?
if you could figure out a value quotient- dollars spent to what you get, what boots have the best value for the money spent would be super helpful.
Love your videos Weston I hope you know that, I appreciate very much all the hard work and time that you put in because it truly does help the working man who is trying to wade through The madness of buying a good pair of fitting boots that will last longer than a year of hard service life.

Absolutely love my Carolina CA7811 boots! They're built arguably as well as the Red Wing's and Thorogood's.
What ultimately sold me on the Carolina's is they're super comfortable right out of the box and have almost no break-in period like the Red Wing and Thorogoods. They're as comfortable after 2 years as they were the first day! The Carolina's are $80 cheaper than the Thorogoods and $100 cheaper than the Red Wing's, too!

Irish Setter Ashby or Carolina AMP Moc Toes are pretty damn good. In my humble opinion. I don’t remember you ever giving them a look. And I don’t know what you’d find inside but they are great boots for standing on concrete floors. Not to mention the Ashby is a hell of a bargain.

I bought a pair of Thorogood moc toe slip-on boots, I'm a welder by trade, constantly on concrete for 8-10 hours a day and then working in my shop when I get home. These boots get worn every day, get showered in sparks every day, and I love how comfortable they are, but after six months they're already coming apart where the stitching is on the sides.

I am a dairy farmer and have been for almost 50 years. My boots go on at 4 am and come off at 8 pm everyday. I have worn Red Wings all my career and absolutely love the durability. I can get a year out of them and then a resolve and get another 6 months. My problem is now finding my size. I wear a size 16eeee boot and my shoe dealer has told me that Red Wing is no longer going to be making that size. I have been doing internet searches and can’t find any of the quality boot makers making boots in my size. Really don’t want to go to sneakers or hiking boot so if anybody could give me any leads I would greatly appreciate it.

I would suggest looking into Franks Boots. They do a lot of custom work and you can send in a fit sheet so they can build the boots to your exact foot shape. The boots are going to be expensive but you can send them in to get resoled as well as rebuilt (removing and replacing the sole and the lower section of leather on the boot). Those two services will grant you lots of longevity with your boots. Hope you are able to find a boot builder that fits your needs!

Well, I really like my White's Perry. Price and materials are a great value. The fit is spot on. I have been wearing them in the house cause I don't want to ruin them in winter time. I thought my Danner Bull Runs would be ranked a little higher. I got 3 years out of them before I had them resoled. And, they had heavy use in the transportation field.. I did also get another pair of Danners for weekends cause they are the best looking black leather I have found. I will think about the Red Wing 1907 cause you make that a better boot then the Iron Ranger. Thanks for a outstanding series on Moc Toes. They are my favorite type of boot and, I know I am a small segment of boot wearers...

I watched some reviews that Rose Anvil did on Indonesian boots and decided to give Sagara a shot. Hand-made by Bagus in Indonesia with quality materials. I opted for their hiker boot with green Badalassi veg tan leather with a wedge sole and they are absolutely beautiful in hand. Quite heavy due to the amount of leather but none of my boots turn heads like the Sagaras. Absolutely recommended. They’re my favorite (next to the Nicks mic toes I recently received which are superb) currently within my boot line-up that includes multiple red wings, grant stones, Allen Edmonds, etc. The only issue with MTO is the lead time but the wait is well worth it for a custom boot.

    Great video.
The only Moctoe experience I have is one that wasn't listed. I have 2 versions of the Wolverine 1000 Mile. They have a Alden Indy meets Red Wing look. The wedge sole with the soft Lux leather is really comfortable. The other pair has a traditional heel with a much stiffer leather. The heel wasn't balanced well, so I had it reworked, which made it much more comfortable.

Hi Mr Anvil! Great channel! love watching your vids. I was wondering whether you would contemplate doing some tests on British/European varieties of shoes? Over here in the UK we can get some US made boot brands very easily (namely redwing, thorogood, Danner etc), but others are harder to come by. However, there are lots of European made boots (I just bought a nice moc toe boot from an online store that's made in Portugal for what seems like great value) so might be interesting content to compare the quality against US boots? I would be happy to assist you in sourcing any boots to be tested etc! All the best! Keep up the good fight!

Been in the trades for 17 years and found wedge soles do not have enough grip for most jobsites. That's why I went with the Thorogood 1957 8" flyaway boots cuz they come with more aggressive soles and are waterproof maybe. I'd love to see a real world test between the wedge and the more "northwest" style soled Thorogoods 1957s.

I went with the Perry from Whites your last year moctober winner and 2 pairs later I had to return them. Their customer service was good just the boot has shank issues. Both right boots had the shank come loose or break and popped and squeeked very loudly. This thime I went with the RW 1907 an have about 24 hours into the break-in and it has been a much more comfortable to this point when compaired to the whites. The 5 mm is foot bed with the RW is much nicer to stand on then the 3mm you get with the whites. I put the insoles that came with both boots in other shooes and just stand on the leather footbed. Thanks for cutting up the boots and enjoy watching your channel

I am a carpenter with over 40 years of experience. Most of my working life it’s always been inside of a cabinet shop very little construction. Most of the work boots I purchase tend to be very expensive, and not very well-made, but I’ve never given that much consideration until now. I am developing some ankle issues and probably will have to get an orthotic to help stabilize my foot and I have noticed that the inexpensive 6 inch boot I do have that that little bit of support does help. I have seen many many videos talking about moc toes and vintage boots never got the understanding of why that seems to be a craze. As far as I’m concerned, 6 inches high is a good size has to have speed laces, and a loop to help pull the boot up. If they don’t have those it’s not considered a work boot. What would be considered a good practical boot around $300 and not wanting to spending a lot of money. I guess it should be well enough for me that in a few years if I needed to have them repaired that would be fine. I don’t need an aggressive shoe pattern to walk around in occasionally after work I do some exploring in some hayfields. Looking at all these different videos, I didn’t realize there were so many different types of boot manufacturers. I tend to be leaning towards the Thorogood at this point.

I’m sure there are others on the same page but please do more boots with a safety toe option. Most of these aren’t even in consideration for me since there is no safety toe option. One I have been looking at is the Red Wing traction tred lite 2440 option. This looks like the total package for value and craftsmanship!

I think the 1907 is so high because fewer people have the Field Boot. When I get tired of boots, I put on the Field Boot because it is so comfortable.

Believe it or not, Eddie Bauer makes surprisingly good boots for the price during their sales.
I have a pair of their leather weatherproof moctoes that have survived impressively well up here in Chicago.

I love the Redwing, I've only had one problem in 18 years with the tongue, they fixed quickly. Haven't seen a 405 review, can you do one if you haven't. Love your videos. I've bought other boots from watching you.

Irish setter Ashby is a good bargain boot. Was very comfortable to me. I tried a pair of Thorogoods, when you could get them on sale for around $160, and even though I wore them out I never truely ever felt comfortable in them. Something with the heel never felt right. I've got the White's Perrys now and so far I'm liking them way better then Thorogood.

Would love if toe squish* or wide toe box was a category for each boot review. My feet don't fit in standard wide sizes and if I'm going to spend more money on a better made boot, I want to know if my wide af feet will fit

I have a similar issue. I own Lem's in the medium wide, and they are great. You could get the widest option if you want, but they already have a super wide toe box because they are barefoot style

@@A.Guy10000 yeah lems fit me well. I just want to hear about like nicks or whites or jks since they're so much money if they have a wider tow box. I honestly can't wear "normal" shoes anymore

Hopefully you get to see this. But I'd love to see a military boot roundup/reviews. I'm in the military and basically live in my boots for 12-16 hours a day. I'm looking for a boot that's durable and comfortable. For my criteria it has to have safety (steel/composite), 8" tall, black polishable leather (toe and heel at a minimum). Waterproof is a plus.

“Women dont wear boots as long or as hard as men” - as a female engineer, I would beg to differ. I am so frustrated trying to find decent, resolable ladies boots. I want boots that will last me 20 years and will fit me like a second skin, and will support me when I’m working in the field.
I am so grateful for your channel reviewing ladies boots - please keep it up!!
I am so sick of these boot companies assuming that, because of my gender, I’m an easy dupe who’s a slave to the fashion cycle and oblivious to quality. I have ended up with mens boots, despite them being too wide for my foot, simply because its the only way I can get the longevity I want in a boot.
