  • 17-year-old Alex Parraga was an active member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and his high school soccer team until his knee grew to twice its normal size. Successfully beating osteosarcoma wasn't the last battle he would have with cancer. Now nurses, doctors, surgeons, and specialists at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital must help him battle cancer again.

Alex and his brother Zach were members of our school's Christian Club and evidenced Christ in all they did. This experience they shared with one another and I was duly impressed by their love for one another. Proverbs 17:17 says, "A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity." These amazing boys exhibited this and I am honored to have witnessed their faith in action. I watched them graduate together and know God is with them!
