- Tenryu Hamanako Railway is a third-sector railway with a 67.7 km line in the south central part of Shizuoka Prefecture. It originally opened in 1935 as a bypass line for the JNR Tokaido Main Line, but was converted to a third-sector railway in 1987.
This line retains the atmosphere of the JNR local line from 50 years ago, and Tenryu Hamanako Railway has preserved station facilities as much as possible, and continues to convey the appearance of the JNR in the good old days. This also leads to attracting tourists.
I visited the site to take a cab view of this line, but the diesel car on the local line shook a lot and I was unable to take a good picture. Still, the scenery along the line was beautiful, and it would be a shame to discard all the footage, so I picked out footage mainly from Tenryu Futamata Station, the core station of this line, and added a short cab view to create a 10-minute video.
The train with the cab view crosses the Tenryu River just before Tenryu Futamata Station, the station next to it west, and arrives at Tenryu Futamata Station. There, the train changes and runs to the next station to the east.
