OMG, someone's reacting to Kent! I wish more people knew about them, they're so damn good! I first heard them because one of their songs ("Den döda vinkeln") was used in a Battlefield 2 skit video with little funny scenes and the song just jumped out at me. Bought the album soon after and have loved their music ever since.

Thank you guys for reacting to this. This is my favourite song of Kent and Kent is my favourite band. This song really means alot to me with going through life. Anyway the MV is fanmade. Also, react to Max 500 from the same album Du & Jag döden, Im sure you would like the MV to it! 😂

Thanks for giving Kent another go :-) They often ended their concerts with this song, significantly extending the ending in a satisfying manner. Joakim excellent Swedish poetry doesn't easily translate well to English, but here's ChatGPTs attempt at it:
A bench row in a restless late April
I look over my shoulder and see you wink
I can have you whenever you want
A wind blows trash along the corridor one last time
And you and I hold our breath and hold hands in the leap
    It's not so far home
And there are still thousands of tears left
And they were yours to give to anyone
    Finally
They are the most precious jewels you have
    So never apologize again
    Finally, we pass their borders
Do you remember our blood oath, our law?
Our foolish crusade against an equally foolish city
I remember everything, like nails against glass
But you just laugh at me, diminish everything to a joke
But I see in your anxious posture, your chasing gaze, that it feels
    That it's far home
And soon there will be no tears left
And they are ours to give to anyone
    Finally
They are the most precious jewels we have
    So never apologize again
Finally, you set your own limits
And that boy I never knew
Who walked on streets I never saw
And thought thoughts I never thought
    Under thin and flimsy hair
And all the feelings hit and exploded
The whole existence full of holes
In a time when nothing happened
In a city that always slept
But darling, we were all once small
Yes, we were all once small
Yes, we were all once small
I throw stones in my glasshouse
I shoot arrows in my cocoon
And so, I cultivate my fear
Yes, I constantly sow new seeds
And in my greenhouse, I am safe
Where envy grows clear and green
And I am terrified of living
And I am terrified of dying
But darling, we shall all die someday
Yes, we shall all die someday
Yes, we shall all die someday
    We shall all die someday
    We shall all die someday
    We shall all die someday

Yes it obviously lost the core feeling in the translation but, there it is. When JB wrote this it was 16 years since he graduated, and in Sweden we do so in a white hat. I think everyone can relate to those last weeks before graduation. Happy, scared, lost, longing, it’s now or never, what will happen next-feeling. And as an adult you can think back and wonder what became of everyone and who they really were then.

Their songs often don't translate well into english, and I saw a Chat GPT attempt, but it loses some of the context, because a lot of their lyrics allude to swedish idioms and cultural references, so I took the time to translate the song as faithfully as I could, with respect to context:
A row of benches in a restless late April
I look over my shoulder and see you nod off
I can have you when you want
A breeze blows rubbish along the corridor a final time
And you and I hold our breath, and hold hands as we leap
    Home's not that far
And yet there are thousands of tears left
And they were yours to give to anyone, finally
They are the most priceless jewels you have
    So never apologize again
    Finally, we cross their boundaries
Do you remember our blood oath, our law?
A stupid crusade against an equally stupid town?
I remember everything, like nails against glass
But you just laugh at me, reduce everything to a joke
But I see in your anxious posture, your haunted gaze that it feels
Like we're a long way from home
And yet there are thousands of tears left
And they were ours to give to anyone, finally
They are the most priceless jewels we have
    So never apologize again
Finally, you set your own boundaries
And that boy I never knew
Who walked streets I never saw
And thought thoughts I never thought
Under a thin and fleeting hairdo
And all the feelings hit and blew
The whole day-to-day full of holes
In a time when nothing happened
In a city that always slept
But darling, we were all kids once
Yes, we were all kids once
Yes, we were all kids once
I throw rocks in my glass house
I throw darts in my incubator
And so I cultivate my fears
Yes, I am constantly sowing new seeds
And in my greenhouse I am safe
There envy grows clear and green
And I am scared for my life of living
And I am deathly afraid to die
But darling, we will all die one day
Yes, we will all die one day
Yes, we will all die one day
Yes, we will all die one day
Yes, we will all die one day

The man in white hat (16 years later) in English. 16 year after graduated he wrote the song and its about ending school but also thinking about the life being short. Vi ska alla en gång dö means we shall all once die so about teenage time and yet thinking its sometime is going to end

This one is one I've not heard often. Though iirc I mentioned that one song I heard for years before realizing the language was not english. I listen to Radio Paradise at work, and Kent is among the many non-english music played (African, Spanish, Italian, French, and though it's an American band, Khmer, off the top of my head)
anyhow, the CC had the translation for me.

Yea, pretty nice to see a reaction on a swedish song sung in swedish. Not many of those songs have travelled outside our borders with pride. And the guy gets it,, sometimes u need to close your eyes to truly get it 🙂 And to the lady, the translations from Swedish to English in Kent songs doesnt give what u feel. Even their own albums sung on english lacks the tender touch of how the words are being used. maybe the same loss u will have when translating some poetry

Thanks for reaction to Kent, but this is no official video just as you say. Thia song is epic, and as very often with Kent their text is complext and free to interpret, and sometimes political and emotianal provoticave. Please check out more easier videos like Mirage, Jag ser dig, or their epic Sista Sången filmed from their farewell tour. Love that you give them your attention. Another not so famoues band is Deportees, best drummer in the world play there. Are also drummer when the french band Poenix play. Island and shores are a great song from Deportees among many.
