I feel like the Catalyst still isn't quite there. I wish the Jade Sphere mechanic was not ground-targeted and instead was a mobile combo field that radiates out from the player, like how Berserker fire fields operate. They don't do damage, so you don't want to place them on enemies, you want them on yourself for aura spread and boon support.
This build is much better now after the scepter buffs/changes. Double dragon tooth that now follows enemies add a lot of pressure. Also sometimes casting 4 tridents in a row is kinda fun.
@@reptiliancow i've been wrecking my brain for catalyst pvp build. I tried theory crafting lightning rod build but hammer only have cc in air attunement. Maybe d/f catalyst might work with lightning rod build.

I've been trying a lightning rod teamfighter hammer catalyst but it feels quite squishy and like damage is not enough. can survive better and do more damage with weaver.
wtf you can more survive with lightning rod...weaver is glasscannon yoloswag damage true but survive ? :| not with the basic meta build obv you gona take 3 survive ability obviously not the full damage setup and if you taking that lightRod is better because more cc :)
Me personally what I don't like about hammer is the 3 skill. It feels like whenever I press it I need to change attunement immediately and that just doesn't feel good since I can barely use any other skill in other attunements
Compared to tempest and weaver, I just feel catalyst does not have enough self sustain. Elementalist is a squish class and the only reason it is viable is because of it's great self sustain. Even when used as a support, you don't have the ability to keep yourself alive like tempest does and continue to support your team. Catalyst gets rid of elementalist's "thing" and doesn't replace it with anything. For me, catalyst seems like a raid oriented class. I think it has the potential of becoming S tier in raids but the lack of self sustain really hurts its open world, WvW, and PvP prospects. Anet needs to look at completely revamping the Catalyst traitline to provide more customizability.
I really struggle with the movemnt and all the combo's keys - Do you use auto walk / Action camera a lot? to free up your fingers? Please elaborate a little

Catalyst doesn't click for me. Close-mid with kinda okay-ish damage but so squishy. Also you have to juggling the auras and what-not (great, another button and ground target huh). Weaver would be better then, with better survivability.
I hate Catalyst at all! First of all wtf a caster is doing with an hammer at all?! Besides,I hated the fight animations as well!Why this hammer shit became an essential weapon for almost every favorite class of mine? I don't care how much DPS my Ranger can do now,I hate that bullshit weapon! I don't like heavy weapons and that's why I have never ever created a warrior but now Arena has given me an hammer and a pistol for my casters;Are you out of your minds?!Caster: Magicians!They need mystical weapons not heavy ones or mechanical ones!Arena has ruined my Elementalist and Necromancer;I don't give a shit how powerful they have become,I don't feel as a caster anymore!I was complaining about my mesmer because of the pistol and costume inconsistencies due to eye pleasure and aesthetic and now Arena has ruined my all casters with those meaningless weapon choices!

They HAD to make it that way so Ele still has "gotta be able to spam 15 buttons per sec to play decently" identity... x(
