When she talked about the cockatoo I thought of Jackie's (Nerdiecrafter) bird Angel. Not sure if he was a cockatoo or another typ of parrot, but the part about them being noicey made me think of Angel. Just the other day I was watching one of her videos and I could hear Angel in the background even thou he wasn't in the room. 😜😜
I'd never ever keep any big birds. No cockatoos, no parrots, and so on. Not that I don't like them!! But they are totally out of my league. Basically loud destructive toddlers that will likely outlive me.
cat allergies are so weird. I'm allergic but I have two cats and I adjusted to them, however I still get a severe reaction around other cats... Obviously not everyone may be able to acclimate to their cats. I'm just glad you don't simply hate cats lol a part of me dies inside when I hear people say they hate cats

All reptiles eat meat in some way, snakes, turtles, lizards, and they are all great pets depending on the breed and or how you take care of them. Although dogs aren't known to hunt they still do eat and need meat in their diet and are known to sometimes kill some animals like a bird or maybe a squirrel. This again depends on the breed or dog itself not all dogs or cats love to chase other things. And all insects and arachnids all eat meat, ants, tarantulas, scorpions eat other insects and animals/dead bodies if given a chance. (depends on the species and size btw) Even then some bunnies kill their offspring if they smell an unknown sent on them, some animals neglect their babies for various reasons. Some mother birds will eat the remains for nourishment, or push it from the nest to keep the other babies from sickness if the baby has an infection or is already sick. That point is kinda dumb. 💀🤦🏾♀️
There’s a breed of horse called a Curly and they’re hypoallergenic but still some people can still be allergic. I currently have 2 horses and they’re pretty much giant expensive dogs lol.
Yeah, but think about Mike Tyson's white tiger. They are were happy together I he's never gotten attacked. He respected the tiger and it respected him. I personally think they had a beautiful relationship. It's sad to think he had to disown of Kanya because she was ill.
My neighbour actually got a "teapot pig" when I was younger. They inevitably became too much and had to move out so I got to care for them. They were unbelievably friendly and became my absolute best friends and they definitely gave me some of my favourite childhood memorise. RIP my beautiful Bertil and Hilda

My great aunt, who lives in Greece, honours her Swedish heritage by naming her animals things like Britt-Marie and Karl-Gunnar lol.

@@ailishoconnor3365 we do have some cool native animals here but we also can’t get a lot of the more common reptiles because of import and quarantine laws. We kind of learned the hard way when they introduced cane toads as pest control 🤦🏻♀️
SaveAFox owner has to literally put everything away as she owns a fox rescue- her bed folds into the wall n stuff! She saves them from fur mills- and they are amazing. They have a TH-cam, tiktok, etc. I'd say check em out!

My parents had a BAT INFESTATION IN THEIR HOUSE, they are protected here in Missouri and my family is a humane family anyway but basically---- the only way to get them out was to wait until their babies were big enough to crawl out and put a cap on their chimneys where they could crawl out but not back in!!! It was hilarious, several times a week I'd get a call from my mom frantically trying to keep her cats away from a bat.

There was a pet shop near me and they had an amazing Cockatoo. She was so friendly but unfortunately the pet shop burned down and killed the birds. 😥 RIP to all those lovely birds.
huge respect to you for recognizing this though. theres plenty of people who only consider if they want a pet before getting it, and not whether it would fit their style of living, and then make the animal adapt to them instead of the other way around. i hope youll one day find a species that fits your lifestyle and your taste, or that your lifestyle maybe chamges to a point where youd be confident to keep one of the animals listed above :]
I wanted a fox for a long time but after more research realized it was a commitment I wasn't 100% sure I could keep. The same with tortoises, because their lifespans can be incredibly long. I wouldn't want to bring an animal into my life that I was 100% sure I was ready for. I commend people that can take care of various animals and the animals are healthy and thriving, like yours ❤ It's really amazing
My brother is in the same position. He and his ex got some ferrets... she loved them and it was easier to love them when he was with her... but she kept getting more (9 total by the time they broke up), and when they split he was left with a couple of them. He'd always saying how he prefers his cats any day over his ferrets. He loves them of course, but they just aren't for him.

I feel like saltwater tanks give me such a boost of appreciation for Mother Nature hahah those animals are so sensitive to every tiny level, in order to keep it consistent with the conditions they would thrive in if they were living out in the actual oceans and seas.

My Mama has the same level of allergy to cats. She likes mine and thinks they are cute but she just can’t be around them or in our house for every long. I always wanted one and the first animal my husband and I got together was a kitten. To this day she’s my little shadow and baby! I want a horse with every fiber of my being. My husband doesn’t like them but every horse he’s met loves him. I find it hilarious that they will follow him!
Love how you recognized how much work goes into horse care. I’ve seen way to many people get horses, board them, and think they can just go out there and ride and not do any other activities with them like grooming, bathing, rinsing after rides etc. If you weren’t allergic to horses I’m sure you’d be a wonderful owner. 🖤
I discovered I was allergic to cats when I was 13. Went into a friends house and just started sneezing non stop because of his 1 cat. I now own 5 house cats...surprisingly, not too allergic anymore.
It also depends on the cat. My brother had several cats that were siblings, and I was only allergic to the one. But, man was it bad. Meanwhile my friends cats don't bother me at all.

I grew up with a house full of animals at all times, I'm now 26 and still allergic 😭 doesn't stop me keeping animals, I just clean a lot and keep antihistamines on hand for when it gets really bad
I had a pot belly growing up, would love another. He was so smart and easily house broken. He learned to sleep in my bed, he was a cool pet but definitely not for everyone and definitely wasn't a tiny pig.

YES! My horse Itachi takes up 5 hours every day and I need to ride him 5-6 times a week. Horses are SO much work, and such a huge commitment, but for the right people they are honestly the best! Wouldn't trade my boy for anything 🥰

I’ve always wanted to keep ferrets, but I know I couldn’t dedicate the time to play and supervision. I have 3 young kids and that’s why I will never own ferrets. I do however love keeping fish.... so it’s funny you made the comparison of keeping fish vs keeping ferrets. I can dedicate mental energy to a pet like fish, but I can’t dedicate my physical self to a mischievous (but fun) animal like a ferret.
I have a lot of experience with freshwater aquariums, and at one point I thought I would like to take it to the next level and set up a saltwater tank....after just a couple hours doing research on saltwater enthusiast forums, I realized I would never want a saltwater aquarium.
I've actually learned from Em that I'd never keep ferrets! I LOVE the bonus weasels but I've learned from her videos I just wouldn't be able to keep up with the daily upkeep and spot cleaning. So mission make friends with someone who has ferrets so I can play with them is a go
It makes me so sad that you're allergic to horses because I love horses and that's currently all I do with my life. I know how you feel though because I'm allergic to hay and so when I feed the horses I have allergic reaction.
I love looking at all creatures, would not hold or even touch all, but watching them is good. Especially am enjoying parrot videos. Loved the scene of you working with the bird. My mother kept a "lovebird" couple, which of the female decided to fly against the wall. It was a smash! The male then fell in love with my dog and he happily lived till the age of 12. He didn't ever bond with a human, he tolerated us but didn't come really close. The sweetest thing was, when he made his own sounds to greet (someone come inside the room) or tell good night (everytime you switch the light off). Cutest creature. My dog is a pug mix. That means a dog that sounds like a pig many times. Such a character! She's like an old lady that is having her childish 10 minutes. Totally in love with that dog! I enjoy your video's! You are doing a great job.
I’m actually also super allergic to cats and to this day every cat I have met I have had a reaction ranging from mild to what you described in the video. Until I met the cat I currently own, she is the only kitty I have never had any reaction to and I think we were meant to meet in that shelter, the bond is unlike any other 🥺❤️

I’ve been keeping and training foxes for the past 6 years. They are the species I love working with the most. They’re quite a handful to keep and god can they smell! But for the right kind of person, it’s soooo worth it! The love they give you back once they trust you is amazing. They are very trainable with the right technics. I used my sweet girl Khala as an ambassador and she would perform tricks for people. Her favorites were dig, speak and jump. She unfortunately passed away due to neurological problems. She was the sweetest fox I’ve ever met
I will never own rabbits again even though I love them. They will kick their food, water, poop, and bedding everywhere!! Again I love them but never again will I own rabbits.
I'm writing this while my rabbit is playing on my bed. He's really sweet but he's so mischievous he eats literally everything. My nightstand is kind of missing a leg and he will purposefully yank his food or water out of its little stand with supposed to keep him from knocking it over and toss it on the ground while I am trying to do school work. He's annoying but I love him so much and I got him from a rescue so thankfully he was already litter trained. He is a lot of work and very needy. If you don't have the time I definitely would never advise getting a rabbit they're kind of like dogs except tiny and vegetarians.
Tbh I’m good with just having cats, I wouldn’t feel comfortable owning other species since I don’t think I’m qualified to do that. ( but I would love to have a ball python one day )

I knew a girl in middle school who had a squirrel as a pet because it fell out of its nest too young and her mom rehabilitated it, only thing was is that it had a balance issue so it couldn’t be released, cutest, wildest and loudest thing ever lol
I am an experienced horse rider and your right about the energy thing, horses are so intelligent and when u are on their back they can tell if your confident, scared ect, if they can sense ur scared to do what your going to do they purposely go easy and if ur confident then they go for it. such amazing creatures
I personally could never see myself owning a centipede. I can appreciate them, but I prefer to appreciate from a distance😂😂 I own 2 scorpions, but I'll pass on the centipedes.
One of my grandmother's neighbors had a pet horse and while they were bathing it it slipped and broke its leg, and they decided to put it down. Still makes me so upset 😠😭

As someone who works with horses, horses do not heal well from breaks. Depending on the break. They aren’t dogs or cats who often adapt well to breaks and/or heal much faster. Amputation is not always a kind option for a horse. *Sometimes* you can fix them. A lot of the times not. It isn’t an easy call to make and it’s often not black and white.
Em's blacklisted animals: Domestic cats - Completely understandable. Allergies are no fun at all, and if they're bad enough that you can't breathe then avoiding the source is smart. Personally I adore them and my allergies aren't nearly as severe, so I would happily keep at least one or two cats. Horses - Again, completely understandable for the same reason as above, and the lifestyle issues. Also donkeys are a completely different species from horses, and while they are similar enough genetically to be crossed they likely don't produce the same specific allergens. I adore horses and desperately want one. If I can find a way to work them into my lifestyle, I will. Raccoons - These ones I completely agree with! While adorable, they are crazy and destructive and I don't want to own them. Meerkats - Again, totally agree with you. Those guys are too wild for my tastes and belong either in the wild or in zoos. Kudos to you for raising some though! Primates/Monkeys - Yeah, this is one I never understood. They are extremely intelligent (it varies), hyper social, and require such dedicated care that it's better for them not to be kept as pets at all. Wild or zoo, not a home. Cockatoos - Total agreement here! I actually am mildly afraid of parrots in general, due to my Grandmother owning a quaker parrot that was very temperamental and had a nasty bite. I would much rather have a few songbirds of some variety, or develop a friendship with some wild crows. Salt-water Tanks - Yeah, those sound like way too much work. Fresh-water tanks are hard enough! For all that I love the idea of owning a "living reef tank" (water cycles through two tanks, one of which is a dedicated filter tank), I would rather just keep a single betta and some cleaner critters in a five-gallon fresh-water tank that is much lower maintenance. Pigs - If I had a farm, even if it was just a backyard one, I might consider keeping one or two pigs. They get so big and so strong that I really don't feel they belong in houses. Foxes - Do not blame you in the slightest! Foxes are adorable, and I might consider fostering some kits or adding in rehabbing them, but I would never keep one as a personal pet. My blacklist: (Not including the animals above.) 1: Spiders or scorpions of any variety - I am a severe arachnophobe. I put up with small house spiders as they are beneficial, but I have rules concerning where they are "allowed" to be. 2: Bees - Again, I have a phobia. I have a double-whammy of both apiphobia (fear of bees) and spheksophobia (fear of wasps), so keeping bees is impossible for me. 3: Bugs, insects, and arthropods in general - They've pretty much all got a big nope. I have issues with "creepy crawlies" and would rather be far away from them. 4: Snakes - This one I actually have practical experience with, as I had a roommate with two snakes I helped her look after. While I am moderately competent handling and feeding them, they require regular socialization to be "safe", and to my knowledge are incapable of actually bonding with their owners, so I would rather not. 5: Specific dog breeds - I'm afraid of German shepherds (childhood trauma, though I might consider it if I raise it from puppyhood), have issues with boxers, would likely not be good with a border collie, and draw a hard line at any breed with jowls due to the drool. They are all lovely dogs, but I just can't.
I had a boxer for 17 years. I about died inside when we lost her. I got her as a child and lost her when my child was in Pre-k. I dont think I could ever get another one.
I have 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs as well as 3 cats, all rescued.... gosh I don’t know what I’d do if I was allergic to cats because they are definitely my spirit animal!!! The little critters are actually much more work especially in terms of cleaning and for the bunnies making sure they get plenty of time out of their hutch.... they can also be quite devastating- the stories that have come with some of my little ones have broken my heart and as much I have given everyone of them the best care possible I have lost quite a few because they just had too much damage done before they came to me.... thankfully I have an amazing vet. I wouldn’t consider getting anything other than one more cavy- I used to always have 3. As much as I’d love a little dog my cats would never forgive me!!! You’re an awesome animal educator- I really respect you and what I can tell is your deep love for animals xx
The animals I will never keep: -pigs, cows -cats (allergies) -tarantula -scorpion -cockroaches (unless as feeders) -fox -small birds (budgies, etc.) -primates -salt water tanks Dream pets(not all at once 😂) -skunk -horse -dogs-have them now and will for the rest of my life -bunnies -rats -ferrets 😉 -hedgehog -scarlet macaw -leopard gecko(also have one now and I love him so much!) -a sand boa or corn snake - red eye tree frog
I absolutely ADORE iguanas, chameleons and tortoises, I think that they are all amazing, but they just aren't for me. I love the times I can interact with these animals but I would not be able to give them good lives. I'll stick to my rats and inverts :)
My friend had a wild raccoon named coony (I know real original) that she took in as a baby years ago (her parents were veterinarians and close family friends until they moved away) and they raised her up and released her but they kept feeding her, so she kept coming back and let me tell you, I remember one time standing on their dining room table just to get away from her, that trash panda was a little monster, eventually coony bit my friend and one of her friends and my friends dad ended up shooting the raccoon and both of them went in for rabies shots. Btw this happened in 06’ or 07’ so I was very young
It's very considerate of you to not get one for that reason. I envy your self control. (When I got my gecko I didn't even consider the fact there wasn't a place to bring it if it got sick)
Really enjoyed the honest opinions/info on the various critters. I always say any animal (for the most part) makes a good pet for the right person. So many people just generalize that all exotics are bad pets

We had an umbrella cockatoo surrendered to the shelter I volunteer at and loud is an understatement lol. You could hear that bird loud and clear throughout the entire building. He also only liked one person that worked there and hissed and snapped at everyone else. Absolutely gorgeous creature but I agree that they are way beyond most people's caretaking abilities.
We had a female eclectus, Sangria, and she wanted nothing to do with anyone but my dad lol She tolerated us on a rare occasion, but I have scars from that bird lol
That’s probably is true. My gf grandmother told a story of horse that she had when she was young. She ended being pregnant but she she didn’t knew she was pregnant. As she she took the horse to her usual run, this one time the horse was acting really weird like it didn’t want to be near her or anything. She kinda force herself in her to ride but she refuse to let her do it. Something happened that day that made her go to the hospital, she found out she was pregnant when she got checked out. She went home the horse gave her a look of that she knew. She got closer to her and the horse just gave kiss to her tummy then her cheek.
I just can't get over how much I love your videos and hearing your explanations of things. You have such a large heart for these animals and knowing your limits, not just getting animals to have them unlike other animal youtubers. I find myself binge watching your videos a lot
To anybody allergic to cats (and/or dogs I believe) if you absolutely love them and wish you could have one, thee are shots you can take that build up your tolerance and help minimize and even sometimes completely eliminate your allergy! Which is pretty awesome. Also, Sphinx cats are absolutely amazing, smart cats, and you might think they look silly at first, but they grow on you!!
I would never own guinea pigs because they can get really sick from other pets also I have a cockatoo lol but she's a cockatiel but still so much work it's insane wouldn't trade her for anything tho.

Aww thank you. I don’t stay in contact with her new owners, but they were a recently retired couple with no other pets. I knew they’d dote on her.

My parents had a BAT INFESTATION IN THEIR HOUSE, they are protected here in Missouri and my family is a humane family anyway but basically---- the only way to get them out was to wait until their babies were big enough to crawl out and put a cap on their chimneys where they could crawl out but not back in!!!
It was hilarious, several times a week I'd get a call from my mom frantically trying to keep her cats away from a bat.

I wanted a fox for a long time but after more research realized it was a commitment I wasn't 100% sure I could keep. The same with tortoises, because their lifespans can be incredibly long. I wouldn't want to bring an animal into my life that I was 100% sure I was ready for. I commend people that can take care of various animals and the animals are healthy and thriving, like yours ❤ It's really amazing

My brother is in the same position. He and his ex got some ferrets... she loved them and it was easier to love them when he was with her... but she kept getting more (9 total by the time they broke up), and when they split he was left with a couple of them. I feel like saltwater tanks give me such a boost of appreciation for Mother Nature hahah those animals are so sensitive to every tiny level, in order to keep it consistent with the conditions they would thrive in if they were living out in the actual oceans and seas.

My Mama has the same level of allergy to cats. She likes mine and thinks they are cute but she just can’t be around them or in our house for every long. I always wanted one and the first animal my husband and I got together was a kitten. To this day she’s my little shadow and baby! I want a horse with every fiber of my being. My husband doesn’t like them but every horse he’s met loves him. I find it hilarious that they will follow him!
Love how you recognized how much work goes into horse care. I’ve seen way to many people get horses, board them, and think they can just go out there and ride and not do any other activities with them like grooming, bathing, rinsing after rides etc. If you weren’t allergic to horses I’m sure you’d be a wonderful owner. 🖤

I discovered I was allergic to cats when I was 13. Went into a friends house and just started sneezing non stop because of his 1 cat. I now own 5 house cats...surprisingly, not too allergic anymore.

It also depends on the cat. My brother had several cats that were siblings, and I was only allergic to the one. But, man was it bad. Meanwhile my friends cats don't bother me at all.

YES! My horse Itachi takes up 5 hours every day and I need to ride him 5-6 times a week. Horses are SO much work, and such a huge commitment, but for the right people they are honestly the best! Wouldn't trade my boy for anything 🥰

I’ve always wanted to keep ferrets, but I know I couldn’t dedicate the time to play and supervision. I have 3 young kids and that’s why I will never own ferrets. I do however love keeping fish.... so it’s funny you made the comparison of keeping fish vs keeping ferrets. I can dedicate mental energy to a pet like fish, but I can’t dedicate my physical self to a mischievous (but fun) animal like a ferret.

Salt water tanks are something I wouldn’t keep again unless I had a company come in weekly to care for them. I agree with all you say on them.

I have a lot of experience with freshwater aquariums, and at one point I thought I would like to take it to the next level and set up a saltwater tank....after just a couple hours doing research on saltwater enthusiast forums, I realized I would never want a saltwater aquarium.
I've actually learned from Em that I'd never keep ferrets! I LOVE the bonus weasels but I've learned from her videos I just wouldn't be able to keep up with the daily upkeep and spot cleaning. So mission make friends with someone who has ferrets so I can play with them is a go
It makes me so sad that you're allergic to horses because I love horses and that's currently all I do with my life. I know how you feel though because I'm allergic to hay and so when I feed the horses I have allergic reaction.

My mother kept a "lovebird" couple, which of the female decided to fly against the wall. It was a smash!
The male then fell in love with my dog and he happily lived till the age of 12. He didn't ever bond with a human, he tolerated us but didn't come really close.
The sweetest thing was, when he made his own sounds to greet (someone come inside the room) or tell good night (everytime you switch the light off). Cutest creature.
My dog is a pug mix. That means a dog that sounds like a pig many times. Such a character! She's like an old lady that is having her childish 10 minutes. Totally in love with that dog!

I’m actually also super allergic to cats and to this day every cat I have met I have had a reaction ranging from mild to what you described in the video. Until I met the cat I currently own, she is the only kitty I have never had any reaction to and I think we were meant to meet in that shelter, the bond is unlike any other 🥺❤️

I’ve been keeping and training foxes for the past 6 years. They are the species I love working with the most. They’re quite a handful to keep and god can they smell! But for the right kind of person, it’s soooo worth it! The love they give you back once they trust you is amazing. They are very trainable with the right technics. I used my sweet girl Khala as an ambassador and she would perform tricks for people. Her favorites were dig, speak and jump. She unfortunately passed away due to neurological problems. She was the sweetest fox I’ve ever met
I will never own rabbits again even though I love them. They will kick their food, water, poop, and bedding everywhere!! Again I love them but never again will I own rabbits.

I'm writing this while my rabbit is playing on my bed. He's really sweet but he's so mischievous he eats literally everything. My nightstand is kind of missing a leg and he will purposefully yank his food or water out of its little stand with supposed to keep him from knocking it over and toss it on the ground while I am trying to do school work. He's annoying but I love him so much and I got him from a rescue so thankfully he was already litter trained. He is a lot of work and very needy. If you don't have the time I definitely would never advise getting a rabbit they're kind of like dogs except tiny and vegetarians.
I feel you with being allergic to furry animals.Dogs, cats, rabbits, horses. Basically anything with hair. That's is why i'm OTT into fish.

One of my grandmother's neighbors had a pet horse and while they were bathing it it slipped and broke its leg, and they decided to put it down. Still makes me so upset 😠😭

As someone who works with horses, horses do not heal well from breaks. Depending on the break. They aren’t dogs or cats who often adapt well to breaks and/or heal much faster. Amputation is not always a kind option for a horse. *Sometimes* you can fix them. A lot of the times not. It isn’t an easy call to make and it’s often not black and white.
Em's blacklisted animals:
Domestic cats - Completely understandable. Allergies are no fun at all, and if they're bad enough that you can't breathe then avoiding the source is smart. Personally I adore them and my allergies aren't nearly as severe, so I would happily keep at least one or two cats.
Horses - Again, completely understandable for the same reason as above, and the lifestyle issues. Also donkeys are a completely different species from horses, and while they are similar enough genetically to be crossed they likely don't produce the same specific allergens. I adore horses and desperately want one. If I can find a way to work them into my lifestyle, I will.
Raccoons - These ones I completely agree with! While adorable, they are crazy and destructive and I don't want to own them.
Meerkats - Again, totally agree with you. Those guys are too wild for my tastes and belong either in the wild or in zoos. Kudos to you for raising some though!
Primates/Monkeys - Yeah, this is one I never understood. They are extremely intelligent (it varies), hyper social, and require such dedicated care that it's better for them not to be kept as pets at all. Wild or zoo, not a home.
Cockatoos - Total agreement here! I actually am mildly afraid of parrots in general, due to my Grandmother owning a quaker parrot that was very temperamental and had a nasty bite. I would much rather have a few songbirds of some variety, or develop a friendship with some wild crows.
Salt-water Tanks - Yeah, those sound like way too much work. Fresh-water tanks are hard enough! For all that I love the idea of owning a "living reef tank" (water cycles through two tanks, one of which is a dedicated filter tank), I would rather just keep a single betta and some cleaner critters in a five-gallon fresh-water tank that is much lower maintenance.
Pigs - If I had a farm, even if it was just a backyard one, I might consider keeping one or two pigs. They get so big and so strong that I really don't feel they belong in houses.
Foxes - Do not blame you in the slightest! Foxes are adorable, and I might consider fostering some kits or adding in rehabbing them, but I would never keep one as a personal pet.
My blacklist: (Not including the animals above.)
1: Spiders or scorpions of any variety - I am a severe arachnophobe. I put up with small house spiders as they are beneficial, but I have rules concerning where they are "allowed" to be.
2: Bees - Again, I have a phobia. I have a double-whammy of both apiphobia (fear of bees) and spheksophobia (fear of wasps), so keeping bees is impossible for me.
3: Bugs, insects, and arthropods in general - They've pretty much all got a big nope. I have issues with "creepy crawlies" and would rather be far away from them.
4: Snakes - This one I actually have practical experience with, as I had a roommate with two snakes I helped her look after. While I am moderately competent handling and feeding them, they require regular socialization to be "safe", and to my knowledge are incapable of actually bonding with their owners, so I would rather not.
5: Specific dog breeds - I'm afraid of German shepherds (childhood trauma, though I might consider it if I raise it from puppyhood), have issues with boxers, would likely not be good with a border collie, and draw a hard line at any breed with jowls due to the drool. They are all lovely dogs, but I just can't.
I had a boxer for 17 years. I about died inside when we lost her. I got her as a child and lost her when my child was in Pre-k. I dont think I could ever get another one.
Just a note for cockatoos - they live for a LONG time. Essentially it'll have to be a thing you'd have to pass on to your children.
They grow really big (1m in body height, not wingspan).

I have 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs as well as 3 cats, all rescued.... gosh I don’t know what I’d do if I was allergic to cats because they are definitely my spirit animal!!! The little critters are actually much more work especially in terms of cleaning and for the bunnies making sure they get plenty of time out of their hutch.... they can also be quite devastating- the stories that have come with some of my little ones have broken my heart and as much I have given everyone of them the best care possible I have lost quite a few because they just had too much damage done before they came to me.... thankfully I have an amazing vet. I wouldn’t consider getting anything other than one more cavy- I used to always have 3. As much as I’d love a little dog my cats would never forgive me!!! You’re an awesome animal educator- I really respect you and what I can tell is your deep love for animals xx

I absolutely ADORE iguanas, chameleons and tortoises, I think that they are all amazing, but they just aren't for me. I love the times I can interact with these animals but I would not be able to give them good lives. I'll stick to my rats and inverts :)
My friend had a wild raccoon named coony (I know real original) that she took in as a baby years ago (her parents were veterinarians and close family friends until they moved away) and they raised her up and released her but they kept feeding her, so she kept coming back and let me tell you, I remember one time standing on their dining room table just to get away from her, that trash panda was a little monster, eventually coony bit my friend and one of her friends and my friends dad ended up shooting the raccoon and both of them went in for rabies shots.
Btw this happened in 06’ or 07’ so I was very young

Really enjoyed the honest opinions/info on the various critters. I always say any animal (for the most part) makes a good pet for the right person. So many people just generalize that all exotics are bad pets

We had an umbrella cockatoo surrendered to the shelter I volunteer at and loud is an understatement lol. You could hear that bird loud and clear throughout the entire building. We had a female eclectus, Sangria, and she wanted nothing to do with anyone but my dad lol She tolerated us on a rare occasion, but I have scars from that bird lol

That’s probably is true. My gf grandmother told a story of horse that she had when she was young. She ended being pregnant but she she didn’t knew she was pregnant. As she she took the horse to her usual run, this one time the horse was acting really weird like it didn’t want to be near her or anything. She kinda force herself in her to ride but she refuse to let her do it. Something happened that day that made her go to the hospital, she found out she was pregnant when she got checked out. She went home the horse gave her a look of that she knew. She got closer to her and the horse just gave kiss to her tummy then her cheek.

To anybody allergic to cats (and/or dogs I believe) if you absolutely love them and wish you could have one, thee are shots you can take that build up your tolerance and help minimize and even sometimes completely eliminate your allergy! Which is pretty awesome. Also, Sphinx cats are absolutely amazing, smart cats, and you might think they look silly at first, but they grow on you!!
