The Crusades - A Closer Look

  • This program examines the facts of the Crusades. It also examines the causes and reasons why recent scholars, politicians, commentators, and others, such as Matthew Gabriele, who bloviate on the subject of the Crusades erroneously interpret them as an example of Christian imperialism akin to that of the Mongol Horde or the Islamic Conquests. The program is limited in scope, and for that reason the subject of the Fourth Crusade (that sacked Constantinople, for which there is no justification) is not covered here. That subject will be covered extensively in a subsequent GOCTV program.

Without the Crusades I shudder to think what would have become of Europe in that time period.

Thanks for another very interesting video. If possible, would be great to see something related to Renaissance and what effect Orthodox Christianity, particularly figures such as Gemistos had on such times critical to the future of European and Western history. Best Regards!

@@GreekOrthodoxTV Would you agree sir, that communism is ungodly and against christianity itself ? It seems to be. And would you agree, that also many christian organisations have been infiltrated by communist thinking and philosophie ? I started reading intensely about this topics. Maybe you have an opinion on this thougts, i would be glad to read it. I think if all this is true, christ is the only power and reliable source to be completely free, even while suffering.

Perhaps it was used, somewhere, in this fashion, but I have searched high and low... nobody else but "this guy' calls the city Constinople. The city is Constantinople. It is really hard to get past that.

Your comment is amazingly eloquent, and articulate! We only desire that you somehow back it up. You must certainly be aware that simply making an assertion does not make an assertion true merely by virtue of it having been expressed (as beautifully as it was expressed in this case).
