I got this game about a month ago and I can't stop playing it. Seriously underrated racing game when compared to Mariokart. Highly recommend as a solo game and really fun for multiplayer.
Chance I haven’t really looked at it too much but the creations and the tracks people have made are really good and adds some replay value after you’ve unlocked all the tracks.
There is a spiritual successor in style called, Hot Rod Mayhem coming out in 2025. Would that be a kart racer you would be interested in a physical release of?
I don't see how you can mention this in the same breath as Mario Kart. This WAS BETTER than Mario Kart in EVERY WAY. it's a shame this isn't getting new editions with every new console generation.
It's been over 5 years now since Modnation Racers came out. And even though we're doing other things now, our love for and what we hoped to see in a future updated version of it with our new PS4's has not died out. LBP Karting was not the kart racer that Modnation Racers was. Sony San Diego? Sumo Digital? United Front Games? anybody ?! #MNR2PS4
Daniel Seter The fan base for this game, although large, isn't very vocal. many of us are just casual gamers that fell in love with how deep this game is. maybe we need to tweet to Yoshida and Adam Boyes that there's still an audience for a follow-up. The PS4 would fix the lack of RAM memory that really plagued this game. and not to mention the loading times. LBP Karting wasn't as a success, despite it being part of a beloved franchise, because it was 2 steps backwards.
Yes I agree. I used to play sonic and all stars racing but i recently started playing Modnation on vita and it blew me away. The gameplay is similar but the customization entertains for hours. A ps4 version would be amazing especially with the touchpad
+Mickael Mc Micheal i bought this game 5 years ago and i totally agree with you i have spent so many hours on this game and it MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME so i hope United front makes a sequel
It certainly is. I got this game at launch and still come back to it to this day. If you want a more complex build system you should try Little Big Planet Karting. It has the same satisfying racing as Modnation (it was developed by the same people) with the build system from Little Big Planet applied to it. The system gets very complex to the point you can generate behaviors from scratch. It has everything I would have loved in a Modnation sequel save for the visual style which follows along the miniature design of LBP instead of the cartoony full sized world of Modnation.
I picked it up over the last week after almost a year. Late at night it can be hard to find a lobby but there are actually still a large amount of people online. It's still really fun, too!
so it has the elements from creating in LBP, the awesomeness kart racing from mario kart, and a little bit of diddy kong racing of how you can upgrade the attacks and boosts
They don't need to make a sequel because u just keep creating stuff what else can they add that people haven't created themselves the 1st one will go down in history
Memories...can't believe it's almost been 10 years since this game came out. I remember like it was yesterday buying a PS3 solely to play this game as a 16 year old
I love this game because it gives a sense of speed no other cart racer has. Its easily the best cart racer I've ever played. And the character and car customization is some of the best creating tools in a game. The track creation is a lot more complicated and harder to make something good, but honestly this was my favorite game of 2010. Only problem was the loading, they fixed most of it. Its hard to believe that this game is approaching 1 year on the market.
@turuu214 I don't think so. Little Big Planet is about 1 1/2 years old now and people are still playing it. It's got over 2 million user created levels. Considering it is much easier to create tracks on this than it is with levels on LBP and the fact that you can do pretty much any character you want with the level of customisation in this, I think people will be playing this for quite a while
@Luke13PL A common kart racers? You can create big long tracks the ones you wish you could create. you get to create whatever kart racer your mind comes out with. Also you get to create whatever character you want. So its worth 60$. Plus if you don't want to buy this version you can get the psp version which cost 40$.
@joshhodgetts Did I say Killzone 3 was a rumour? I knew it was confirmed. Also, Helghast is the plural form. Plus, the screenshots are Helghast with jetpacks and Helghast on a snow level. Not all in one. I was saying that inFamous 2 was still a rumour as it hasn't been confirmed. Sony put up a billboard for Resistance 3 in the film. Battle: Los Angeles but it's still not confirmed. Some actor said on his twitter that he's auditioned for Cole in the sequel and the DN. Still no confirmation though
@Killzoneguy117 The beta was a few months ago. It's over now. The US got it in December and Europe got it in January/February. I was in the European one. But in my previous comment, I was referring to pictures and videos from the beta put up by people online
i';ma grown ass man, and i loved this game today, making the track is damn fun and once you start you cant stop, driving is so natural you wont need time to adjust to it, and ofcourse the community has some crraaaaaaazy tracks and remakes of the racing tracks and mario cart tracks going on already, the single player is quiet fun and enjoyable too.
It's been a couple years since I last played this game, so I decided to give it a shot again to fill the void for Mario Kart 8. Surprisingly, there's still people who play online, and I managed to get into a lobby quite easily :) If they made an enhanced ModNation Racers for PS4 without any framerate drops, I would so buy the console solely for that game.
@ChaosBirth12 Yes, people definitely still play online. You will easily find an online race group at any time. You are matched with a group of racers and you continue to race with them until you don't want to anymore.
@NMW567 did you see the bost meter on the video. When you have enough boost you can use it in 3 diffrent ways. The 1 way is to get a boost. The second way is that you can sideswipe opponets (attack them with your cart). The third way is that you can use a shield to defend yourself against attacks. But likie i said if you don't have a powerup you can attack your enemies with sideswiping. Plus most everyone will be attacking each other with powere ups.
@NMW567 well if your in first place and you have a power up you can leave that power up as a mine. Also if your going to get attack by a powerup you can use the mine as a decoy. every power up will be able to be left as a mine to defend yourself. Also the power of the mine will depend on what level of how many levels did you upgrade that power up.
@kryanchingy Most media publishers will issue advance copies for review prior to release. It's like a movie being screened by critics who provide their write-ups in the paper before they hit the theater on Friday.
@xG2N500 It depends. I sometimes get full-on 12-player matches or a bit less, but then I sometimes get 3-4 player matches. But I usually get the former.
@minivor I'd probably go for ModNation Racers. Little Big Planet 2's coming out at the end of the year and it'll be much better than the first one cos you'll be able to play all the levels people created in the first one but with more features.
@Derfonic I know. And even if you're not that creative or you can't be bothered, there's so much stuff that's been uploaded in just over a week. Plus the creation tools are much simpler than LBP. If you like CTR like I do, you should play a few of the user made CTR tracks. I've played Dingo Canyon and Tiger Temple and they were both awesome. There's videos of them on TH-cam
blue shells are a pain in the ass, every time I play mario kart I can go from first to about eighth in a matter of seconds then get trampled by racers with pow blocks, stars, and giant mushrooms and if this doesn't have that then I'm sold
@ShadowArticuno It seems the developer didn't only look to Mario Kart for ideas. IMO, DKR's weapon system was the best because it was balanced. Too bad the CPU's didn't wait to upgrade.
@MrGamingGameplay Well 3 Minutes seems like a bit of an exaggeration to me. Average load times with the game installed are anywhere from 40 - 60 seconds, but there's a patch in the works to fix these loading problems, so it taking long to load won't be a problem soon.
My bro got it today and after playing it with him for about an hour i think its pretty cool! The load times ARE very slow, but the customisation is awesome. I think 9.0 is abit high... i reckon it deserves about an 8.0
@93mlo I know about the shield, but what I meant was if it had an object that homes in on the player in first place, nethertheless even if it does I know I have an opportunity to block it.
I remember, in Mario Kart Wii the power-ups were really cheap. You could be the best player and be first the whole race, until someone throws a blue shell at you right before the finish line and you'll finish last. Are the power-ups like that in ModNation Racers? Or are they more balanced? I really want to know.
I was always looking for a great kart racing game for the playstation trio. I havent played many, just CTR and Crash Nitro Kart, and ocassionally mario kart wii when i can. CTR is a great way for me and my father to connect because it was so simple and fun and the only game he would play. Is this game, while it has all the features, be a game thats easy to hop into? Even for a Crash Team Racer like my dad?
hmm, after playing it most of this weekend most of the online races come down to whoever can break away from the pack in the beginning. then when the #2 person breaks away from the pack it is really hard to catch #1 because he is so far ahead unless he is a sucky driver. you can easily defend against 1 person shooting at you. i still love the game but sometimes it is frustrating.
the weapons system reminds me of lego racers. where you would get 1 boost it would simply boost you second would give you rocket wheels that game you insane speed and third would just straight up teleport you to the front. same with the shield and attack powerups. that game was great.
