The whole name change thing is a joke,anyway,insofar as there's *no* official register of name changes, there's no official documentation held for *any* 'body' to refer to or cross-reference. The vast majority of name changes are just bits of paper,printed at home, with some made-up official looking serial number,signed/witnessed by whoever they can get to do it,then this is used to change every single official record . Any 'body' who picks up on this as *not* being an official document(which the banks do,quite often) ,the individual just has to scream 'transphobia' and complain loudly,then the bank/other just capitulate and all normal protocols/checks and balances go out the window. The hoops that the ordinary Joe &: Josephine Bloggs have to jump through just to prove their authentic identification,becomes a farce - and if you think having zero registration/cross-referencing of changes of names has an impact on safeguarding when it comes to loopholes in the DBS system,consider,too,the impact of 'disappearing names' on terrorist watching and money laundering . The adage of 'nobody would go to all the effort to xxx' , is a nonsense,because it's been shown,repeatedly,that if they can,they will .
Surely if anyone uses a false name or does not disclose their real name and consequently obtains a remunerated post they could be charged with obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception? Furthermore, how are all these identities reconciled by HMRC for the purpose of determining tax codes and VAT liability? Or by the DVLA, Passport Agency, Companies House, the Charity Commission, police firearms licencing etc?
No-one should have the ability to erase their previous history, whether names or sex. It's a fundamental flaw.

And that's why NI numbers should be used to trace an individual fof DBS checks, not just their current legal name!
