This is a song that travels. It was written by Sean McCarthy from Finuge in North Kerry (he also wrote Shanagolden and many other songs) . At the time that he wrote the song there were fairs in every town in Ireland. Now there are just a few fairs left on the whole island: Puck in Killorglin, Ballinasloe in Galway and The Old Lamas fair in County Antrim.
