Watching BrianF play on Hitbox is like watching a kid who just started playing fighting games and that combo he practiced 2 hours a day finally came out live in ranked. You can feel the hype through the monitor!!
THANK YOU for opening up the lobby. It was an honor to fight you. Only been playing fighting games for 1.5 years now. I'm surprised I was even able to win ONE. thanks again brine. Was an amazing opportunity for me to fight a pro. (I was the 1st rog)
Hitbox only took Daigo about a year and a bit to master. And the pandemic helped because he didn't have to travel to tournaments anymore which allowed him to practice more. Looking forward to seeing how long it takes you :)
Editor going strong with the Evil Zone OST, love to hear it. Edit for 17:15: Man I wish this were the default design for Lucia, makes her instantly way more interesting.
On controller I really such, but on hitbox I turned mid. Also, a tip that help me get the hang of it is use your right thumb for jump. It kinda helps your brain conceptualize it better.
What a crazy controller, man! I can imagine an arrowkey thing, but not something like this! It's amazing that you're able to control this even to a mediocre degree
Personally, when I pick up a new controller I like to pick up a new character to help me reset my brain entirely so I can learn from scratch. Just something to consider while you get them fingers in the groove.
im used to playing games using keyboard where jump is the spacebar u hit with ur thumb same as hitbox jump but i cant imagine playing on hitbox for sfv
I wish this thing wasn't so expensive. I instead got a clone, now I only need a custom acrylic panel made to personalize how it looks. I wonder if the boards are any different from each other, aside from console compatibilities.
Just curious as I don’t have a hit box, but wouldn’t a person press jump with their thumb(left hand)? Kinda like a keyboard. I noticed Brian pushing with his right hand finger.
It took me a solid 2 weeks to get comfortable with the HB. Then it took me probably another 6 weeks to get back to where I was. I haven't looked back though.
Yo Brian I've been a viewer since before you moved to Texas 👋 I'm looking forward to seeing you play more with a hitbox as I personally experience the same troubles mentioned in your first hitbox video (input travel time & jumping by accident when blocking high) and I'm looking for a better alternative. My stick has made me drop SFV and DBFZ from my rotation. Keep the vids coming 👍
Do you know the forward, down, up shortcut for DP? you plink forward to down, then while still holding them, up+button. Useful for reacting to jump ins in neutral, because i feel it's the fastest dp. not useful in combos tho. (especially into super)
This makes me want to pick the hitbox style controller up again. It's sitting in my closet after someone teabagged. I was already having a hard time doing optimal combos with it and that just tipped the scales for me.
@@Coliflowerz Thanks man. I really do want to learn it for when SF6 comes out. It's hard to fight the temptation to go back to comfort but I pulled it out of the closet last night and it's on now.
@@Fanatic.....1 Yes! Definitely! My CFN is the same as my name here. Let me know yours, so I know it's you. Also, I'm in the South West region of the US.
I really really wish there was as much choice for fight pads as sticks ....I know there are fight pads out there and have yet to try the most recent Hori pad though
the most recent hori pad has an analog stick... a fighting game pad has something no one uses for it. Based on the two reviews ive seen they said it feels very cheap. The worst part is that the FC4 is now discontinued. Which means whatever you have now might be your last hori.
From Dev perspective usually, except for some cases, if a game has a diagonal + something input, a Joysticks would be optimal, if a game has a rotations then a key/buttons would be optimal. It's how the inputs create a sequence that the engine reads to activate an event in a specific time window. Think of it as playing chords on a Guitar vs playing chords on a Piano both work but the fundamentals are different. Dope vid!
Question for people that have used stick and hit box. Do you feel like it makes dashing and motions easier? I’m decent on stick but have a rough time dashing like if I was playing sf4 fadc would be kinda weird. Do you think it would help with execution in that sense?
I've transitioned from stick to hitbox and I do find it easier to do everything on it. I've never been a big stick player, stuck with it for ~3 to 4 years before discovering my new controller. It does sucks there's no R3/L3 on it though and I didn't go through all the hassle with steam yet. Take into account I'm a PC player, so I'm quite used to using the keyboard for games.
@@DrizzleCrow Seconded. My years of playing FPSs actually made the Hitbox feel instantly more natural even after months and months of stick. Dashing is a lot easier, in fact everything that's not a half-circle or 360 is just a lot more fluid for me.
Basically? The only major difference is how narrow keyboard keys are compared to typical buttons, as there's way more wiggle room and less of a chance of missing an input due to misaligned finger positioning.
The one important benefit that most keyboards don't have is SOCD cleaning. On hitbox this causes pressing Left and Right at the same time to read a neutral input. Most keyboards will just take one of the two directions instead. Outside of that and a more comfortable button layout they share similar benefits
Yeah you can totally use a keyboard as a nothitbox. Theres even a kind of hitbox that uses a WASD layout. I honestly think its kind of wack but if you want to live the WASD life go ham. The real pain of keyboard is all the extra keys can get in the way and just aren't as easy to press as arcade buttons.
I feel sorry for you. Had to recently play strive tourney and forgot my control method. Was forced to play on dualshock. It's so frustrating to not be able to do, what you know how to do, and just lose because of it. :(
When i was a kid, we use to 0lay street fighter on my dad's com0uter and ee would share the keyboard. So poor kids were playing with what pro 0layers are playing with biw today. Lol time changes

the editor cutting the music at those moments so cold with it
TFW You try to train with a HitBox and your hitboxes get Hit by a Boxer
Xhibit would like to know your location
music in that last match was impeccably edited, great comedic timing from both brian and brain on that one
Really proud you are trying new things and learning a whole new play style! Its never easy to learn something new, but you can do it! ♥

great editing with the music

Just remember to keep holding down when you flash punch. So that the charge begins immediately after
you should do more of these!! I missed this stream on this one just barely

Even if you decide to ditch the hitbox later for whatever reason, keep the controller camera. It's cool to see your hands moving.
Play is looking good for such little time on, impressive. Enjoy the journey man.

HitBox is cool and all but im really looking forward for the easy control options in SF6. Also i hope i can run the game on my can of pringles.
Idk man losing out on buttons is lame
How is your left hand ? I remember mine to hurt quite a bit
welcome to the wonderful world of hitbox charged flash kicks

About to go on this hitbox journey myself so this is a good watch lol
Brian f is gaming now on hitbox
took me like 4 months to transition from controller to my junkfood arcade mini but i can never go back, so good.
I had so much trouble getting used to jump/up being on my thumb on hitbox. Using menus was wack for a while.
I wish I was there live. There’s at least 8 ways to dp on hitbox
Please milk this Hitbox content as much as you can. It’s absolutely worth it xD
There will be a 2nd part? if not RIP Q.Q
