I don't care if we talk about the ELVIS before or the ELVIS after , and that we try to analyze all his doings and gestures ,,, for me he is and will remain the greatest Star who walked the Earth with his unparalleled voice, his charisma, his beauty, his generosity ,,,,,,, despite his exhaustion, his multiple illnesses, his malaise, his loneliness, the lack of his beloved mother, his responsibility to provide for the material needs of all those who gravitated around him, the murderous book of Red, Sonny and Dave, his exhausting tours and albums recordings under the yoke of Parker etc , etc non-exhaustive list All this contributed to shortening his sad life ////// Beloved ELVIS in my heart since 1956 ///// TCB / RIP ELVIS you deserve so much
Well said...I don't know that many of us could cope with what he dealt with during his life...just my opinion. I think all of us need to remember not to ignore our own faults while we are pointing out the faults of someone else. Love you Elvis...good days or bad days.
Thank you, suzyq, ////I forgot about the divorce where Mrs. BEAULIEU through the justice system was always asking for more money from ELVIS,,,////// For me and for many REAL fans, even if ELVIS had remained seated on the stage, without singing or speaking during his shows, just to see him, to feel his presence and his magnetism would have been enough!! / ELVIS LOVE /
@mariaromo5640;;; ELVIS has always been (and still is) a cash cow for everyone, so it doesn't surprise me, if he was on the verge of exhaustion on stage /// and even in this "bad form", no other current or past singer or band comes close to him!!!!!
He was sick, tired, uninspired, bored... obviously overweight and the suit was pretty unflattering.....76 is the year he should of just rested and focused on what he really wanted and needed to do for his health, mental wellbeing and for his career inspiration... unfortunately we know why he didn't...very sad
@@keithkarvelis82 Parker didn't do anything that Elvis didn't agree to. Elvis signed the contracts for movies, records and concerts and agreed to pay what Parker demanded as his manager. Elvis could've fired Parker at anytime but chose to go along with it all. It takes two to tango.
@jackwest3811 He didn't have the money to buy out Parker so he was basically stuck with him. I do wish Elvis stood up to him more but that wasn't his personality.
My wife and I were at this concert, and Elvis seemed in good spirits, did not slur words and what we saw "we expected" You are correct there was no social media, but our "print media" did tell, and show us, what Elvis looked like. The fact that this was 50 years ago does not mean we all lived under rocks and did not keep up with all news-not just Elvis.... but topics of the day. Magazines like Photoplay, National Enquirer, Movieland, Rolling Stone, etc all kept us up to date on what Elvis looked like and how his openings in Vegas and his tours were going. You could not stand in a supermarket line and not see (even if you did not buy the mags) recent photos of Elvis and everyone else popular.Rona Barrett was a Hollywood reporter and she had a syndicated 5 minute "Hollywood news report" that was in most major tv markets ...it was on KTVI in St Louis. She could be hard on Elvis and pointed out his weights ups and downs...so your assumption that we had no clue about his weight gains and slower performances was incorrect. We all knew Elvis had gained weight after 73.... photos abounded to show us this fact. We all knew he was not the Elvis of 69-72, he had been in and out of the hospital, we knew he had health problems (especially the congenital ganglionic fold in his colon, referred to commonly as a twisted colon) we knew about his eye problem. We had an evangelist come to our church who was good friends with JD Sumner and he told us in his week of revival services that JD had told him Elvis was torn between wanting to do more for God and less touring....but Elvis knew many peoples livelihood depended on Elvis and his tours and recordings. I digress. But as far as that show I would rank it a good show, early on he was attacked on stage during "You Gave Me a Mountain"....blindsided from behind by a woman and you could hear the mike hit his teeth in a loud "clack" It did throw him off balance for a second and "it may have thrown off his entire show" At one point he asked with a smile: "Whats wrong with you people" because the crowd was pretty rowdy. He reportedly told Ron Tutt and John Wilkenson "Thats the last time I play here" His voice seemed to be phoning it in on the old hits-but some songs like "Hurt", "America the Beautiful" "Steamroller Blues" he fired up his delivery with emotion and power.
Thank you for this update. Being attacked from behind surely would have startled him. I enjoyed your objective view, and all the extra details. Much appreciated.⚡🇿🇦
That's fascinating first hand information. Thank you for a balanced view of it. Though sometimes it's hard to watch his later performances if he seems to be struggling, he also captivates you and you can't help but watch him. It may seem strange but the more I learn of his struggles as a human, the more I respect him for his accomplishments. Does that make any sense?
Aww, poor Elvis 🥺 he didn't seem well at all in that clip. I love that song too! Can you imagine having to keep entertaining people non stop and those gruelling tours, a ruthless manager on your back and a team of people who depend on you for their wages. That would break anyone. I agree he needed a long rest, then a big comeback. It's kind of a Catch-22, because we are grateful for all the footage too. Can't get enough of Elvis 😌👑
No every Elvis concert wasn't sold out. When are the Houston Astrodome concerts wasn't sold out and several concerts in 1977 weren't sold out. Plus the colonel roped off about a thousand seats in the Pontiac Silverdome in 1975 when he feared it wouldn't sell out
@@kevinhoffman8112 One of the reasons that the shows sold out is that Parker charged artificially low ticket prices to ensure they sold out. I saw Elvis twice in 1975 and 1976. The ticket prices ranged from $5-$15. Saw Sinatra in 1974 at the same coliseum. Ticket prices ranged from $25-$50. And, Sinatra sold it out.
Not every concert was good, irregardless of being “sold out” or not. The sad truth is after the mid 70s, lethargy set in , and you never knew whether you would get a good show or one filled with slurred speech, drug induced diatribes, and boredom with the same old.⚡️
GodBless him. He looks tired and sick. And yet he’s still doing his best to entertain. I love Elvis . And like you said he didn’t have to prove himself.
ITS SAD, 41 years old- and yes bored to tears, but I will tell you, that man did alot of living in those 42 years before he passed. I truly believe that when he and Cilla divorced he and his pride could not stand that pain. In the end just a very sad human being. But very few people in the history of this world had such an impact on most of this planet! His generosity and love for people, in my humble opinion will never be equaled by another human being... GREAT INFO AS USUAL
It’s heartbreaking to see him looking so tired ! I want to go back in time and make him take a few months off to rest but it’s obviously not just rest he needed he needed to go to rehab but it just was not done in them days 😢and after reading a lot of books I think he would need a lot of convincing! I agree with you that he would probably have made a comeback if he had lived he just needed something to live for !! Makes me very sad for what could have been but I will always be a devoted fan and thankyou for bringing us all these clips I probably would never see xx
Unfortunately you can't force an addict to get better on your schedule. They need to be mentally ready to kick the habit or for something like weight loss to lose weight. You just can't take a person to a rehab center and say they're now you have to get better because most likely it will backfire
I have one more story about this March 22 1976 show. My wife and her friend were waiting in a line the ladies rest room when the opening strains of "2001" started and nearly all the women rushed out including my wife and our friend. My wife was not a big Elvis fan, she loved the Moody Blues and Cat Stevens-but Elvis came walking out on the stage just as she got to the platform and stairs and Elvis stopped walking on that end of the stage looked up and smiled!!!! My wife comes running back to her seat with a flushed face and huge grin and yells at us: "He smiled at me He smiled at ME!" 12,000 fans and "He smiled at her!" From then on she was a big big fan. I still laugh when I think about it.
So true Ken. Elvis made everyone feel special. Your wife had that "personal" experience. Good for her. As you say that made her a true Elvis fan. Thank you for sharing this with us. A beautiful, positive story amidst Dave's very negative header! This was at a time when Elvis was being sued by the ex, health problems, he was frustrated, wanted to tour overseas, do more for the Lord, yet he still pushed forward and never gave up. Appreciate your stories. TCB ⚡
Yes but Elvis was still human and his needs at this point needed priority over peoples need for him to be in concert. Those that truely cared for him would of wanted for him and not for ourselves.
Not that we expect Elvis to be perfect every time, every, appearance, every performance, every meeting...but, we appreciate his humanity and perseverance through all that he was experiencing in his life. I love all aspects of this special and unique person, the good, the bad, and the absolute best....understanding and compassion for the tremendous amount of responsibility we know he carried on his shoulder for his beloved fans, family and friends. God bless Elvis Presley Forever and may he rest in blessed peace ❤️⚡💯
Just seeing him in footage is enough for me.Elvis wasn't well here we can all see that but us fans are grateful for any new footage. Regards from Manchester, England 👍
The man needed challenges. 56, he was world changing. Then after the army, the movies took their toll. 68 special, that challenge was career changing. Led into concerts again. In 72 you could see boredom setting in. Along comes the greatest TV event in history. Again, he was challenged. After that, his voice continued to evolve. In the 74 Live Memphis concert, you can hear his voice was ungodly strong and he sang with such ease. In late 75 thru 77, it was obvious he had no more challenges. If he'd been able to do " A Star is Born" I believe that was his next challenge. We all know why. By the time he did the 77 Special, he was too ill and may have known he was not long for this Earth. Yet his voice was unbelievable. It's always hard to believe from Aloha to the CBS Special was only 4 years. Thanks for all the great videos!
No matter what will slways love him. Yes he coukdve gotten himself together if he was given the chance. You're right he couldve had ANOTHER comrbsck. I think that was whst he really wanted. Like he said just before his almost last tour. "this is going to be the best tour ever". God had a different plan for this great man!
It’s always hard to see Elvis towards the end. ❤ I saw him twice in concert, early in 70’s and around this time. His voice was beautiful and he gave all he had. At that time, I was a teenager, I didn’t notice his weight or if less energetic - it was Elvis and he exuded charisma, I remember he was funny cracking smart comments between songs and so stunningly handsome. Miss him, thank you for sharing.
Elvis stated in a concert in South Bend, IN in Oct 74 (IIRC) where he stated he is not a King. He is just an entertainer. We, as fans, need to be more mindful of his wishes.
I saw him later in 1976 in Birmingham Al, I think in a Fall month. He looked much better than in this concert. He did It's now or Never.plus many more of my favorites. His voice was strong. I'm sure at this stage In his life, when he was so sick, it was hard for him to even show up. I was so glad that I got to see him in person, because I was a fan since his career first started. Sadly he was gone in less than a year. This was the only time he came to Birmingham for concert. My seven year old son was with me. He loved it too. I bought a National Enquirer with his picture on the front in the summer and knew he was sick. So glad I got to see him live once. He has a new following now and will always be the King of Rock and Roll and the greatest Performer to ever have lived on this Earth.
He definitely looks better than 77 for sure, Pretty good actually. His movements not good, but if there was a bit cut out. I'm sure the full show in person was more exciting.
David, I’ve been following you for years. I thought I would share something with you. I’m a huge Elvis fan. Born in 1957 I was right at the beginning of Elvis’s career . My mother was a huge fan and was actually 8 months pregnant with me when she saw him perform in Shreveport, Louisiana at the Louisiana Hayride…Dec. 15, 1956. It must have marked me in some way because I have always been a diehard Elvis fan. One thing I could never do was listen to anyone speak about Elvis in a less than flattering way. I just love him so much it is like my poor heart couldn’t take it. Then you came along. The first time I heard you do a rather hard critique it upset me. But for the first time, I wasn’t angry. As I watched more and more of your video’s I got to see your love and respect for Elvis. I learned to respect you and you loving him enough to tell it straight, but never mean spirited. Somehow, I think watching your videos help me heal. And I do mean heal, because I love Elvis like a family member and was broken hearted . I know I’m rambling and I hope I’ve made sense. I just wanted to say thank you. God Bless.
Elvis even though he wasn't 100% gave 100% of what he had to his fans and no modern Entertainer would ever go and do what Elvis did in any kind of poor health. People like Taylor Swift if they break one of their fake nails they cancel an entire tour.
The image is one thing and the human being is another. It's hard to live up to an image his words just a few but says alot. Think this clip nails what he said. He gave so much of himself to those gruelling tours. But still in the clip was that charisma bouncing of him. What a man, what a legend.
Do not care how bad Elvis, was physically, he was still the greatest showman, performer, singer or entertainer to have lived on this planet called earth.
It says a lot about dedicated fans, through thick and thin, good and bad times, they stuck by him. All his concerts sold out. Normally a. Artist would be washed up, finished in music, or dead. What was it that drove people to him , more then other artists. Despite even bad performances they still were loyal. They probably could sense how tired and excited he was, his vulnerability, that may have endeared him to fans. Plus the curiosity factor for even no. Fans. ELVIS PRESLEY in concer was a big deal. He was a music legend, opened the gates for other artists, he didn’t invent rock. roll, black artists did, but Elvis and Sam Phillips helped get them out in mainstream not in segregation. Plus for a white man he was something different. His history in music a factor too. He was still on the charts before he died. A male Cinderella story that happened naturally, and his dedication to his parents and his genorousity. He was an unusual phenomenon.
There is only one Genius of music per century and beloved Elvis has been that of the twentieth century, will be that of the twenty-first current, and his star is not ready to be extinguished! All the other singers and bands, no matter how good they are, are no match for him ///// TCB/
@@bpbrowning78 That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I never got to see Elvis live unfortunately, but I saw James Brown twice when he came to England. An amazing performer but completely different from Elvis, that's where wacko jacko copied James Brown shows. James Brown is a brilliant dancer but just lacked that charisma that Elvis had as a performer and singer. Even James Brown himself stated Elvis was the greatest when it came to performing, but James Brown beat Elvis when it came to dancing. As you know James and Elvis were truly great friends and James would hang out with Elvis at GRACELAND when, James came to Memphis. James Brown also put wacko jacko straight on important Elvis was too opening the doors for black performers back in the 1950s, 1960s and even the 1970s.
Even on Elvis’ worst days he still gave a good show! I saw Elvis in New Haven, CT July ‘76 he gave a pretty good show. ‘76 and ‘77 were tough on him. He was obviously not well and I agree with you that he needed a break from touring. But his manager kept him working and sadly worked him to his grave!
Jeffreyjohn, no one could make Elvis do anything he did not want to do. Elvis feed heavily on his fame and adulation from his fans....hence he toured as much he could. Reference some of the books on the subject.
Elvis ❤ Just needed to take year off and get back in shape look, but as he always said he he felt obligated to keep show on the road for his fans and had to keep payrole up for everyone his team of bodyguards he never wanted to let them down even when his health was causing him many problems. Its very sad and unfortunate, he cared too much for his immediate circle if he had been more selfish he would have lived much longer, and would have still bee n great success into the millennium just needed to shut everything down get back to health and have new material to comeback with would be have been fantastic ❤ to he have him around longer 😢 he had so much more he could've done ahead of of him, he did complete a marvelous mission here on earth in a very short space of time when you think about movies tours he accomplished in 42yr he will be loved forever Elvis❤ ❤❤❤
Super video - thanks for posting. Amazing footage. You are so right that a comeback was needed, something new - Elvis was just busy paying the bills, just wished that he had looked after himself but he put everyone else first. ⚡️TCE⚡️Always
Elvis needed yo take time out and rested. He was still awesome. But he should have got away and sorted his health problems out. Will love him forever. 🌟💓
Thanks for finding this footage of Elvis! I believe a lot of his shows from 1975 on were performed with Elvis wearing down!, however, Some were probably not like his younger shows -the stress and strain mentally and physically were getting more evident to see probably because of everything going on at that time! There was so much and his health was starting to suffer! Just a lot involved in those later years! However, Elvis always lived by his motto TCB⚡️
Mary, how very lucky you were to get a scarf from Elvis! I was at his May, 1977 concert. I sat very far away, but honestly it was one of the best memories of my entire life.
@@debrareilly5969 Thank you, I was squashed against the stage and it was like a this loud noise behind me and I realized it was a whole bunch of women behind me this was the evening show with my best friend who also got one, I was at the day show with my husband. I was at his June 25th 1977 concert with my husband in Cincinnati to, little did we know. I wouldn't trade those days for nothing, people that never saw him live don't know what they missed, I'm glad you got to see him in person. We did another one in the seventies I just can't remember which one.
@@maryannellis4683 oh my gosh!! I would have probably passed out!! ☺️ So incredibly exciting to have been that close!!! And then, to get a scarf!!! You are SOOOOO lucky to have seen him more than one time!! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing memory!!
@@PerrySkyePhoenix The stage was to high, I was right up against it, my only regret was I didn't look at his face, I followed my eyes up his leg to his hand with the scarf and fought my way out of the crowd to my seat.
I see several comments criticizing David for his statement that the average person would be shocked by Elvis's look and demeanor if they decided to attend this show. I am an Elvis fan, and I was sickened by what I heard and saw the night the '77 TV special aired. I was embarrassed for Elvis. Jerry Schilling in an interview, said they should have not allowed Elvis to do that TV special looking like he did. He was right. When Elvis met with Marty Passetta, the producer of Hawaii via Satellite, Marty told him he had to lose weight. Elvis did exactly that. Elvis praised Marty for being truthful. Everyone wants to claim Elvis's demise was Elvis's fault, Elvis wasn't mentally or physically well enough to make his own decisions. Col. Parker convinced Elvis that he owed him, and was indebted to him. It was Col. Parker's job to ensure "That Boy" was healthy enough to get on stage, and that he looked and sounded his best. Just like it was Marty Passetta's job in '73. Vernon Presley and others are guilty of letting Elvis down as well. This channel is my favorite Elvis channel because you always keep it real. I do care that Elvis's last few years were spent suffering. I do care that no one stepped up to do the right thing. He was savable.
Colonel Parker begged Vernon Presley to commit Elvis to rehab for at least 6 months. That was in 1975 in Parker said if we don't we're going to lose him. Vernon assured Parker everything was fine they were taking care of it and Elvis had to tour because they needed money. Under their contract that left only one thing Colonel Parker can do which was keep the work coming
Clear fan footage so unusual, love the suit but his condition is sad to see, not least of all his voice sounds weak. Still, what I would've given to see him live. I always feel compelled to watch him, no matter what, the genius is always there lurking.
Being a Elvis fan all my life from 69 to still today Elvis was a working machine he never took time to relax if he wasn’t touring he was recording and with all his health issues he had if you look at his recording dates and his concert dates this guy hardly slept plus up all night with friends singing gospel music you know why he was doing ups and downs plus pain medication on top that his fans always wanted more Tom Parker was about the money and worked the guy plus with people betrayed him it did it’s toll on Elvis there’s nobody still today can ever accomplish what he did it was not normal he was before his time and was blessed with a amazing voice. And there will never be another Elvis his voice never fouled him in the end and you can see that in 1977 CBS special singing How Great Thou Art
Elviswas and still is the man..I'm listening to elvis and straycats on Sunday my 56th birthday on Sunday keep rockin William richards from dequincy Louisiana
Elvis gave us so much of himself! By this point I’m sure Elvis was tired of being Elvis. He could reinvent himself a thousand times, but in the end he’d still be Elvis! The great thing is that he had such a wonderful band and it’s amazing to hear their musicianship. He’d always want us to pay attention to them, but unfortunately most people couldn’t care less! I love hearing the band! As of 1973 on , that’s what I most pay attention to
Incredible talent!! Appreciate him even more now. Was very young being born in 1967, but see just how incredibly talented and good person he was when I visit tge archives.
A woman rushed the stage at this concert early on while he was singing you gave me a mountain and bit his lips so bad it was bleeding. Apparently after that he lost all interest in the show and just wanted it over there are video clips of this on TH-cam
I wouldn't doubt that Priscilla had Filed a Lawsuit against Elvis and it might even be The following month after this. Found out she had 2 Lawsuits against Elvis and one was for Graceland. I agree with you. Elvis Did a Great Show in Omaha Nebraska in 77 .
I too was at the show in Omaha 77 and it wasn’t a Great show at all! It was about 6 was before he passed. But it was nice to say we saw him. Felt Lucky to just get to see him as an entertainer. Sad his people used him.
I saw him June 25 1976 in Buffalo. I was 8 years but I knew how important this moment was. I felt a magic from his presence that I have never experienced again and it has never left me.
Massive fan here...I agree with all your comments. Great clip of polk salad, but a very lacklustre performance.. I even noticed JD singing the 'gator got your granny' part. Elvis didn't even attempt it. Lol. For all his flaws tho...we still loved him and still cannot get enough of him.
That’s what JD was for, the baritone! Not bad for a 20 year career. I just read a bunch of news paper reviews of Elvis’s concerts from my large metro hometown and they were all good reviews. Funny how they used to mention the age of him every time. “this 37 year old still could belt them out” Ageism was a big thing in the 70’s and 80’s. You never see reviews of performers mentioning their age now.
Hello Dave, Elvis was NOT over weight if you look at him properly. He was “Bloated”, He has Slim Shoulders, Arms and Legs!. His stomach was Distended and Bloated, due to very complex illnesses He had lots of underlying illnesses. No one ever seems to comprehend this. Why does everyone like to pick and peck holes in him and pick up on all the “Negativity?.”46 years after his passing away. Still rubbish is being said about him. Speak about the “ Positivity!.” Elvis was really poorly. It’s a wonder that he still went on tour. He did it mainly for his beloved daughter Lisa Marie. So financially she was well looked after. Colonel Tom Parker treated him so badly. And pushed him too much. He was “ Bored!.” Elvis did his concerts also out of love for his fans. The Love he had for them was immense. He wanted to tour and go to England, Japan and Europe. It would have given him something to look forward to. He had fans all over the World that wanted to see him live in person. All the videos showing these things that were full of “ Negativity”, should not have been allowed. It’s almost as if people will get pleasure gloating at him. It’s nasty. The before and after Elvis is irrelevant. Whichever way you look at Elvis he was still a human being with feelings. He was struggling in his life. He was lonely, he was sad, he was BORED. And so much more.Elvis was a “ Searcher”, he Always wanted More!. He still tried to focus and remain “ Positive”, by NOT giving up, but continuing to do his BEST. Just because someone goes from being very slim and lean to overweight as you say. Elvis was still the same person we grew to love more and more each passing year. His voice never let him down right till the very end, because he didn’t allow it to. Elvis Soldiered and Plodded on regardless. And that he should be rated for. Not dug out for the way he looked, or performed. Exhausted?. “YES”, but all the derogatory remarks need to STOP PLEASE!. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I respect that. But it is NOT necessary to” Highlight” the bad things. As an Elvis fan you MUST feel the same?. Let’s remember Elvis for the”Unique”, Epitome of a man he was. Kind, Caring, Loving, Tenacious, Charismatic, Funny, Quick Witted, with a very Great Sense of Humour and Fun. His Beautiful Smile. And Contagious, Infectious Laugh. and Much More. Had Colonel Tom Parker stopped thinking Elvis worked for him and treated him with the Greatest of Respect. And given Elvis every possible opportunity to evolve to even Greater Heights in his career. Maybe Elvis would have started to want to go on. He would have had so much more to look forward to. And would have most probably still been alive today. Elvis Was Colonel Tom Parker’s Employer. He worked for Elvis. He should have got songwriters to write brand new material for him. And he should have allowed Elvis to be rid of him , if he wasn’t going to do things to help Elvis excel more. And Elvis could have found a new manager that was worthy to have such a “ Mega Star” as Elvis. Just because Colonel Tom Parker was an “ Illegal Immigrant”, who wouldn’t be allowed back into the USA had he left. Why should Elvis have suffered at this man’s hands?. The man who siphoned Elvis’ profits at Las Vegas by gambling all his money away at the Casino there!. Let Elvis be remembered with the dignity he deserves.A man who was “ Generous To A Fault!.” Please “Highlight”Elvis’ “Magnitude”of success. And let him be remembered not for the Artist he was. But the “ Artistes” he was the most “Preeminent” Singer, With the most Powerful, Vocal Range Ever! He was “ PHENOMENAL” Singer, Actor and Dancer. The Greatest Man To Ever Grace Our Planet. Surpassing All Others. Rest In Eternal Peace Elvis!. Amen. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️👑👑👑🌹🌹🌹😘😘😘Thank you Dave with love from Jayne. 🙏🏻❤️
Parker only cared about money. I saw Elvis May 31st 1976...being a teen, not old enough to drive yet, did not know Elvis was sick. I TOTALLY AGREE with other Elvis fans that Elvis was the GREATEST singer on this earth. HOWEVER ..Elvis NEEDED his rest & regroup at Graceland ... I'd like to believe if fans in Memphis had known about how Parker treated Elvis ( pushing him beyond exhaustion) I'd like to believe the fans would have put up a protest against Parker or something... because ..just maybe Elvis would have lived to seen 45 or 50!
Elvis is still adorable, handsome, yet, tired, but, yeah, I woulda been irate if my bangs were cut so short, too! Elvis’ hair defined so much of his character, looks, & style. The short bangs also feel super annoying on the forehead. Elvis 4eva!
Of course he needed a big big break. He looked so tired, sweaty, doing the least of actions. Poor man, worked too hard. He was and still is the greatest ever.❤
Yeah, this was really sad to see. He was only 41 years old, but physically he was decades older, especially his internal organs. He hardly moved at all, neither physically nor vocally. His voice was almost a monotone, all the nuances were gone. The deeper line "Gator got your granny" is sung by either J.D. Sumner or one of the other deeper vocalists of The Stamps. He was just going through the motions on auto pilot and looked like he hoped he would be able to finish the song, let alone the full concert. Very sad to see and to realize what a stunning male specimen and great performer he was just a few short years earlier.
Elvis was living paycheck to paycheck. Elvis had told Vernon he could always make money by making a movie, a record or doing tours. When the first two options mainly dried up, only touring was left. His spending sprees caught up with him but he spent his money mostly on others and that's what we need to remember.
Hey Buddy.. I just want tell ya ..you are doing very exellent ..with your love for Elvis an help educate other Elvis fans learn stuff would never nkow.unless you willing take time to compile all your great info Basically I love wat you do.. Elvis the king of rock roll..your doing great keep it up Tony from Baltimore..
Poor love feel sorry for Elvis as in this era as I'm looking on how Elvis was been treated . Don't no back then being a kid un aware Elvises conditions and how Tom Parker took 50/50 from Elvis heart breaking : As I'm reading from this era so sad for a higher performance as he is being spiral down hill and not leaving his country to go to other countries only just his state in America . Elvis being a higher entertainmenter he should of been over seas I fine it strange ,But this is from Tom parkers doings . Poor Elvis same songs over and over and over again gez poor man 💝💝💝💝💝💝 Thank you David from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 I miss Elvis💝
Thank you David your videos are always great. I often think that Elvis was so devoted to his fans and often said he was where he was because of them. This is just a thought, maybe if fans made a plan tell let Elvis know they are worried about and maybe if they let him know he looks exhausted and isn’t performing at the level he had always performed and maybe if they could have told him he needs to take of himself and get help for all of the different medications he takes. I think his fans are the only ones he would have done anything to make them happy. And I know we can’t do anything about all of but it’s something I have been thinking about
It hurts my heart to think how he struggled with his health. Today he would have been diagnosed him with so many co-morbidities that he could have been cared for differently. Love him always and will take him as we can get him. Thanks for the video ❤
Been an elvis fan all my life.I am seventy now.Bought my first record when i was 8 years old the sublime ReturnTo Sender. In my opinion Elvis eas never the same after Aloha. His voice never failed him to the end but his body did because of the prescription drugs he was taking. He soldgierd on for a couples throug 74 and 75 but 76 and 77 were sad to see and that Travesty Elvis In Concert should never have been transmitted.I could cry when i see the Are You Lonesome Tonight clip.😪😪😪👑👑👑
I've been mucking about with lots of the fan footage trying to restore/upscale it (still not sure how to share it as I put a couple videos up and they both got removed in less than 24hrs but that's by the by...) and this sort of footage where you can actually clearly make his face out is so much better to work with. Without it you're often left with no face at all, or a slightly terrifying gargoyle face which morphs and changes constantly. There's a lot more of this higher quality stuff from his later years... I may be wrong but I guess it's down to 8mm/super 8 ownership becoming more widespread over time... It's a bit of a shame and I feel sad watching this but at the same time I'm glad it is available because it's pretty frustrating how little of Elvis was filmed professionally.
Maybe he wasn't feel well you know the colonel, the show must go on,make that money for me Elvis!Like the song from Jesus Christ Superstar ,"he was not a king ,he was just a man. "He was not a robot, you can't expect him to look like he did in 1968 or the early 70's.He still had a great voice and he looked as well as can be expected for his schedule and lifestyle. I would still go see him just to hear him and be in the same building with him.❤
Elvis was already about to die . He was just a shell of his former self. He really pushed himself in the last year of his life. He performed so much and worked so hard i don't see how he did it. I truly believe he loved his family friends and fans so he pushed himself to the limit. I loved him like a brother. I never met him person but felt like I knew him . He brought joy to the pople that loved him ❤
Not only exhausted, he loos like he wished he didn't have to be there. If you see Wayne Newton's little interview it says everything about Elvis' mental state which Elvis wrote about to himself in '76.
Folks………..Elvis was ran ragged by Col. Tom Parker for his own selfish gain! Elvis was under contract with Parker and he was a real dedicated man who just wanted everyone to be Happy! Bless His Heart for going through all the constant pain in dealing with the Performances and eventually he fired Parker! By then the damage was done! Being up all night and sleeping during the day kept Elvis tired and left him feeling exhausted! Regardless of anything Elvis Will Always Be Remembered By His Fans and Loved Ones! Pricilla has been married a couple of times to different men and still to this day carries the name of Presley! Elvis Will Live Forever! Tyvm. 🎸
Priscilla never remarried after Elvis. She lived with Marco Garabaldi for 20 years and they had a son but never married because she wanted to use the Presley name.
most likely a really bad anxiety attack looks to me I get them and that's how I fill and look. also elvis in his sleep his snoring is better then 90% of music now a days
Elvis didn’t need to prove himself over and over again that he was relevant and the best entertainer to have ever lived but he did it anyway because that was the way he was. He was an innovator and an inspiration and he gave everything he had to give. He was the hardest working entertainer in the business. He just kept on touring relentlessly to please his fans and relieve the boredom of being stuck in America without being allowed to tour the world. In the late 70’s Elvis’s records weren’t selling in the volume they once did when he was at the height of his career so he also needed the money to continue to live and support his daughter and keep people in jobs who were depending on him. Elvis was the best the world has seen and left behind an incredible legacy. He is still adored by millions today, long after he left the building and nobody has come close to what he was as an entertainer and never will. He will always be the best.
I Seen Him in March of "76" in Charlotte, N. Carolina and so this Concert is right within the same little Time Frame....and it was pretty much the same...maybe ah little bit more electricity,, maybe jus alittle on the upbeat fr this Concert here...but not by much.... I remember it crystal Clear even though I was only 12 at tha Time cause I was such ah Big ""E"" Fan.....!!
He still did a very good job!Probably wasn't feeling so good.Even if well how many times can you sing the same songs and still put everything you have in it. Had to be getting a little bored with it all. But on his worst day he could sing the others under the table!R.I.P. Elvis no would comes close to that fantastic voice you had❤❤❤❤
Even though I'm glad that you show so many clips, it make my heart to see him in such bad health. That being said, please continue showing. Those awesome ups. Thank you.
I grew up listening to Elvis on the radio, watching Elvis Movies and seeing his TV Performances. I was 15 in 1977 when it was announced on the radio that Elvis had passed away and it was sad to hear but to be honest Elvis wasn't as popular in the Teenage World anymore. His music had started burning out in the past couple of years, other Musicians and Bands had moved in taking over a big portion of Elvis listeners. We were Rocking to Areosmith, Led Zep, Boston, Bob Dylan, Eagles, Genesis, Kansas, Kiss, Tom Petty, Queen, Bob Segar, Rush, AC/DC, Eric Clapton, ELO, Foreigner, Heart, Thin Lizzy and many, many more Groups. Music had changed, what was considered Rock in the Elvis era had completely changed, Elvis was for the 40 to 60 year old listeners the younger had been introduced to a whole different era of Rock music that lasted into the 90's. Elvis was good in his era of time but by 1977 his candle was burning out and I think he knew it.
The poor guys organs were shutting down and he still got on stage to please his fans. Miraculous if you ask me. RIP! Major heart disease liver kidneys intestines the poor guy was on his death bed. Sad!
I was at that show at the Kiel in St. Louis as a kid. My parents took us, as we were huge Elvis fans. My first concert, ever, so I was pretty fortunate. The truth was, in the best seats, Orchestra, they essentially lined up rows of folding chairs. It was very flat and not a great view for anyone past the first five or ten rows probably. I recall it sounding pretty much like what we were used to hearing on the live albums, like the Madison Square Garden show. It was an event, of course, seeing Elvis and that carried most of us through a show that undoubtedly suffered from his poor health condition. You're right though, we really hadn't known about his health and that wouldn't come out to the general public until later. The entire thing lasted about 45 minutes. But it was 45 minutes I would always remember.
I think Moody Blue was the start of his comeback. That recording session in the den was awesome footage and the final tracks were a glimpse of where his music was actually heading. 77 was the start, but ended short. His next would've been gospel album
If ya listen to this concert all the way thru i think Elvis was disgusted with the sound at the Kiel this time..and after the girl came up on stage during you gave me a mountain i think it was that he seemed to just wanted to get it over with...he was already tired by this show...but Elvis loved his fans and still gave the crowd a memory of a lifetime...i saw him 3 years earlier at the Kiel...

My parents took my grandmothers to see him in Johnson City, TN the week before. Their main takeaway from the show (after probably not seeing anything live for years, like you mentioned) was that he could hardly get around the stage. They said it seemed like everything was a struggle for him, yet they enjoyed the show immensely. They were not disappointed in the performance… rather surprised/concerned.
🎯💯
Thank you, suzyq, ////I forgot about the divorce where Mrs. BEAULIEU through the justice system was always asking for more money from ELVIS,,,////// For me and for many REAL fans, even if ELVIS had remained seated on the stage, without singing or speaking during his shows, just to see him, to feel his presence and his magnetism would have been enough!! / ELVIS LOVE /
@@poussin4665 I agree with you. He was under pressure and perhaps the home life was depressing as well and yet he did come through for everyone.
You’re right! Unfortunately, he didn’t have enough money coming in to sustain along layoff. At least not with the way, Elvis spent.
Freaking Parker. I hate that guy. He basically killed Elvis.
Wasn't Parkers fault. Come on'. Elvis could have said no anytime he wanted. He was a big boy. @@keithkarvelis82
My wife and I were at this concert, and Elvis seemed in good spirits, did not slur words and what we saw "we expected"
You are correct there was no social media, but our "print media" did tell, and show us, what Elvis looked like.
I digress.
But as far as that show I would rank it a good show, early on he was attacked on stage during "You Gave Me a Mountain"....blindsided from behind by a woman and you could hear the mike hit his teeth in a loud "clack" It did throw him off balance for a second and "it may have thrown off his entire show"
At one point he asked with a smile:
"Whats wrong with you people" because the crowd was pretty rowdy.
He reportedly told Ron Tutt and John Wilkenson "Thats the last time I play here"
His voice seemed to be phoning it in on the old hits-but some songs like "Hurt", "America the Beautiful" "Steamroller Blues" he fired up his delivery with emotion and power.
Thanks for sharing, very informative
Thank you for this update. Being attacked from behind surely would have startled him. I enjoyed your objective view, and all the extra details. Much appreciated.⚡🇿🇦
That's fascinating first hand information. Thank you for a balanced view of it. Though sometimes it's hard to watch his later performances if he seems to be struggling, he also captivates you and you can't help but watch him. It may seem strange but the more I learn of his struggles as a human, the more I respect him for his accomplishments. Does that make any sense?
Wilkinson.
@@PauloPereira-jj4jv Sorry spelling is not always my best thing😀
Aww, poor Elvis 🥺 he didn't seem well at all in that clip. I love that song too! Can you imagine having to keep entertaining people non stop and those gruelling tours, a ruthless manager on your back and a team of people who depend on you for their wages. That would break anyone. I agree he needed a long rest, then a big comeback. It's kind of a Catch-22, because we are grateful for all the footage too. Can't get enough of Elvis 😌👑
Yeah, he was basically doing it for everybody else, and to keep a roof over his head. It was a steady, reliable stream of income.
He looks like he needed a much deserved vacation and rest !!!!
And you gotta remember…Every Elvis concert was always Sold Out!! So on his worst day he was Still Awesome 🤩
Yep was always awesome no matter what he looked like
Amen!
I hope we get to see him in Heaven!🌹
This was last show on tour a course he is tired
By 1976 elvis was not big deal except diehard fans athought he sold out
Why linda cutting his hair in first place
He looks Dave Thomas from SCTV doing Elvis
Absolutley shattered he just couldnt hit his usual notes he needed a rest bless him still amazing xxx
Poor Elvis, he looked tired 😢. But he still looked beautiful with those bangs 😊❤.
True about time off & rehab, which we didn't have then -- BUT, as many people have said, he had a stubborn streak & wouldn't listen to anyone.
My wife comes running back to her seat with a flushed face and huge grin and yells at us:
"He smiled at me He smiled at ME!"
12,000 fans and "He smiled at her!"
From then on she was a big big fan.
TCB ⚡
what a lovely story
Great story I can only imagine I'd would had been doing the same as r wife did.
I'll take Elvis Presley in any capacity, still the Greatest entertainer ever. ❤❤
I Understand this. In general I would also. But healthy is better!
Yes but Elvis was still human and his needs at this point needed priority over peoples need for him to be in concert. Those that truely cared for him would of wanted for him and not for ourselves.
He could touch any heart & soul with singing & performing!!!!!!! I think his heart was broken.
@anngarland: I think that song hurt he was singing it to CILLA! He sang it so well with passion and soul! 😊
❤❤❤❤ love hearing him sing HURT
It’s always hard to see Elvis towards the end. ❤ I saw him twice in concert, early in 70’s and around this time. His voice was beautiful and he gave all he had. At that time, I was a teenager, I didn’t notice his weight or if less energetic - it was Elvis and he exuded charisma, I remember he was funny cracking smart comments between songs and so stunningly handsome. Miss him, thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it
ELVIS is still My Man, any day, any week, any month, any Year! ❤️🔥 No. Matter What‼️⚡️❣️
Even the King has bad day's! 👍🏽
Bless him, he always gave his fans 100%❤️
I love to see photos and videos from the later tours, there so much dept to his performances .
God Bless.
his voice didn't fail him at all, he looks really tired like bless him.
the hardest working entertainer for his fans ❤
Elvis even though he wasn't 100% gave 100% of what he had to his fans and no modern Entertainer would ever go and do what Elvis did in any kind of poor health. People like Taylor Swift if they break one of their fake nails they cancel an entire tour.
The image is one thing and the human being is another. It's hard to live up to an image his words just a few but says alot. Think this clip nails what he said. He gave so much of himself to those gruelling tours. But still in the clip was that charisma bouncing of him. What a man, what a legend.
Magnífico!! Elvis forever. Thankil very good.love Elvis.❤❤❤😊🙏🏻🙏🏻
What was it that drove people to him
, more then other artists.
You have seen James Brown, correct? Elvis was amazing but cannot touch JB
Wow. No he wasn’t.
Sounds breathless and he looks tired and unwell. Very sad and difficult to watch.
I’m so glad you’re keeping Elvis alive for us that loved him!
Glad ur watching
100% Agree❣️♥️

Keep up the great work man your insight and passion is brillant!I fan of you to and Elvis! All new footage is GOLD.
Thanks Louis. I’ll remember that and keep that in mind. 👍🏻 Great footage indeed
God bless him, his health really suffered because of exhaustion and drugs. But he was still the best entertainer on this earth.
Thanks for finding this footage of Elvis! I believe a lot of his shows from 1975 on were performed with Elvis wearing down!, however,
Some were probably not like his younger shows -the stress and strain mentally and physically were getting more evident to see probably because of everything going on at that time! There was so much and his health was starting to suffer! Just a lot involved in those later years!
However, Elvis always lived by his motto TCB⚡️

I still definitely would’ve loved to see Elvis live too. Especially this close! I’m sure his charisma would come shining through.
He came back strongly right at the end of this year but clearly struggling big time here.
One again thank you for sharing still some excellent footage!
Very shocking to see elvis in poor health, we're is the duty of care from the people around elvis .🙏🇬🇧❤️🇺🇲
He fired his closest companions, or the Colonel did. They wrote a tell all book in revenge.
If Elvis didn't want to take care of Elvis, no one else was going to take care of him.
The Colonel fired them, and then Elvis fired the Colonel.
I appreciate your honesty. There's no way I'd be out there feeling the way he did. Bottom line it caught up to him.
A woman rushed the stage at this concert early on while he was singing you gave me a mountain and bit his lips so bad it was bleeding. Apparently after that he lost all interest in the show and just wanted it over there are video clips of this on TH-cam
A gift that she asked him for the money to buy the cross for him
Happy Valentine's Day =Beloved ELVIS Day to all !
😢💖💔he looked so uninspired , bored, and just tired , but I think all big stars go through that... And he looked like he was hurting ( physically)
Totally agree with all you say, ELVIS still is the best!
Hard for me to see him looking so worn out. I loved the guy......but he was sleep walking through this one.
Definitely
I wouldn't doubt that Priscilla had Filed a Lawsuit against Elvis and it might even be The following month after this. Found out she had 2 Lawsuits against Elvis and one was for Graceland. I agree with you. Elvis Did a Great Show in Omaha Nebraska in 77 .
She filed the lien in April 77
Well said
That’s what JD was for, the baritone!
If you close your eyes and just listen to his voice you’d have no idea he was bad off. I’m blind and he still sounds great to me. 12:15
Well said. Absolutely agree. So sad, he looked completely lost here
Elvis was living paycheck to paycheck. Elvis had told Vernon he could always make money by making a movie, a record or doing tours. When the first two options mainly dried up, only touring was left. His spending sprees caught up with him but he spent his money mostly on others and that's what we need to remember.
Hey Buddy.. I just want tell ya ..you are doing very exellent ..with your love for Elvis an help educate other Elvis fans learn stuff would never nkow.unless you willing take time to compile all your great info
Basically I love wat you do..
He was the best!!!
And I know we can’t do anything about all of but it’s something I have been thinking about
Always love to see anything new about the greatest man that ever graced this earth, really enjoyed watch, long live the king.
It hurts my heart to think how he struggled with his health. Today he would have been diagnosed him with so many co-morbidities that he could have been cared for differently. Love him always and will take him as we can get him. Thanks for the video ❤
LOVE your WORDS! SO TRUE! SAD’ DEAR ELVIS 🩷🩷🩷❤️❤️❤️❣️❣️❣️💖💖💖💖
Hi David ♥
This makes me feel so sad. He certainly isnt happy. He looks drugged up and his weight is making it hard for him to move.
Poor soul xxx 💝
Been an elvis fan all my life.I am seventy now.Bought my first record when i was 8 years old the sublime ReturnTo Sender. In my opinion Elvis eas never the same after Aloha. His voice never failed him to the end but his body did because of the prescription drugs he was taking. He soldgierd on for a couples throug 74 and 75 but 76 and 77 were sad to see and that Travesty Elvis In Concert should never have been transmitted.I could cry when i see the Are You Lonesome Tonight clip.😪😪😪👑👑👑
So sad that he got so sick!
He is so pale and looks exhausted. RIP Elvis ❤
I would still go see him just to hear him and be in the same building with him.❤
DORORTHY? LOVE YOUR COMMENT.SO TRUE! POOR ; DEAR ELVIS- I WILL * ALWAYS* LOVE HIM 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷NO MATTER! How long ! TIL MY LAST BREATH!
He wasn’t feeling it much here… but I could watch Elvis sitting down humming quietly to himself and never feel bored or let down. ⚡️
most likely a really bad anxiety attack looks to me I get them and that's how I fill and look. also elvis in his sleep his snoring is better then 90% of music now a days
Thank you.
I show plenty of clips of Elvis in his prime as well. Check them out! He is the man, but even at his weakest I still find him interesting.
Its incredible how he went downhill very quickly after the Hawaii concert. The jumpsuit looked spectacular..
I would give anything to be at this show. It's still ELVIS... Thank you for sharing great content.👍
Loved this David 💜, Elvis looks very tired 😢
My opinion is that everybody has bad days, and maybe this was one of them. I still love Elvis!! His voice is still the same.
The poor guys organs were shutting down and he still got on stage to please his fans. Miraculous if you ask me. RIP! Major heart disease liver kidneys intestines the poor guy was on his death bed. Sad!
MICHAEL? YES ! ELVIS WAS suffering greatly , his organs WERE shutting down down but many don’t realize. He was leaving us. Too soon !
It saddens me terribly to think about the pain he was in, especially in the latter years, but still he soldiered on!
He was the king of rock and roll. And he is still the king. It seems that very one is knocking him. I still love elvis and allways will.
