With the large number of displaced people in the Los Angeles area, I would hope that people coming in for NAMM will choose to bunk up, and free up rooms for those families with nowhere else to go.
If you get three interesting people talking about things I'm interested in... it could still go horribly wrong; but it never does with Nick Batt chairing the discussion. Thanks, as ever! Best wishes to the Californians facing adversity; and I wish you a successful trip to NAMM.
namm is lightyears away from any of the fires that are, or were, burning. I've actually flown through LAX since these tragic fires have started & business there is as usual. aside from the terrible sadness that pervades the lives of those who have lost their homes, & of all of us who are friends & family & admirers of all of them.... aside from all that, things are essentially back to some semblance of normal here in los angeles. so, please do come bring some fresh vibes our way. we could really use the uplift. fly free & rest easily, david lynch.....
Prediction: A lot of the LA music scene will follow Hollywood to Atlanta. Atlanta is already big in hip hop and there's a growing community of creatives there. The city government great, but it's way less dysfunctional than LA>
I don’t know but if it is the same folk who made that first mixing board I ever bought I still got it, I feel bad giving it to anyone less they throw it through my window in the night.
I think there will also be a lot more solo tours and streaming shows. A lot of people are quitting alcohol and switching to THC to get buzzed. This will be a good thing as weed enhances music listening. Bars will make a ton once weed becomes legal everywhere and bars start selling joints instead of booze
THC is not gonna bring music back music‘s pretty much dead at this point globally everybody just keeps doing the same repetitive thing the only band the greatest band in human history. The Beatles are only band and recording history that actually had a prolonged career that you can differentiate. I agree with the THC thing, though although the CBD derivatives are excellent and way more experimental, what music supposed to be again, but probably never will be.
I think I would buy an Sd card with a video of the performance and a shirt. Or a legit photo of the event mailed home framed, maybe three of four photos montaged together with a band logo and the logo of the event. Number it and make it official. These can be a half n half between the band and the bar.
Some difficult and sad topics handled with compassion. A great place to hang out for an hour. Thank you.

That would be a significant societal shift, not sure if we're ready for that
