I very much enjoyed your tutorial and have gained more confidence to try my Daniel Smith gouache paints for the first time. Thank you for your excellent tips! 👏👍
Hello Sandrine, Charlotta from Sweden here. Merry Christmas and God Jul! Thanks for a very informative review! I am just trying out a palette in DS gouache and this was very helpful! Carmine was a new aquaintance for me and thanks for the tip! I agree there are some colours I really miss, like perylene violet and perylene green. Perylene violet can be found in the gouache range of Winsor and Newton and also in Schmincke. As for botanical painting I agree a better range of greens would be great. I would wish for a green in PG 8 ( as the white Nights watercolour ) but as it is not entirely lightfast I suppose that will continue a dream😉. I find I like the DS gouache, almost as much as Schmincke and W&N and it will be nice to continue to try them out. In some videos about gouache I have seen where they try to make a dry gouache palette w paints dried in pans the DS gouache seem to be less prone to cracking and crumbing than other brands. I use a kind of watertight palette w small compartments and a silicone sealing top to keep the paint moist. But it is a bit bulky and heavy to carry in the pocket going sketching outside so I will try to experiment w dried gouache in an ordinary small paintbox. The wood one you use seem very handy! All the best for the new year too!
Thank you for the video. Schmincke has in their Artist (Horadam) line the best single-pigment greens, Cobalt green dark PG26 and Chrom…green PG17. Love them.
Thanks for the info! Personally I no longer use the Schmincke Horadam range because it contains animal ingredients but a long time ago I used to like their Sap Green :)
Thanks very much Sandrine, I always thought that Gouache was opaque, but those pigments are lovely. It would be nice to see some of your seascapes and landscapes too. Take care, David.
I was surprised too... The gouache paints I had used before were much duller. These are opaque and bright at the same time... I expect they're much more pigment-loaded :)

There is a Perylene Violet in the W&N gouache range! ☺️
Thank you, I'll have to check it out. Their watercolours are not vegan-friendly so I'll have to find out if their gouache range is :)
@@AtelierSandrineMaugy I see, then I'm crossing my fingers that it is! ☺️
I checked: 17 of the W&N gouache colours are not vegan-friendly but Perylene Violet is ok :)
@@AtelierSandrineMaugy That's great news! 😄
Daniel Smith jus released 50 or so more colors, including several nice greens and lightfast reds/pinks!
Yipppeee! 🎨🥳 Paint party!!
