I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
Love our Instant Pot. It’s so easy the kids make dinner 3 nights a week. Following you has saved our family hundreds of hours in the kitchen. Thank you!
Great ideas. Here's a tip: when you add the packet mix, add the powder before the noodles. Makes it easier to mix it into the meat without the noodles in the way. Also, I used to be a fan of hamburger helper. Now I just make my own. It's cheaper to skip the box and just use noodles and beef broth and mix into your meat. Tastes the same but is healthier. To thicken stir in a slurry of corn starch. You can add onions and mushrooms to your hamburger if you want. Or fresh spinach at the end.
The powder is just the beef flavor. So if you use beef broth instead of water you don't need any extra seasonings in my opinion. I do add salt and pepper and you could use onion and garlic powder if you like it. I like to just add onions and garlic to the meat while it's cooking.
@@christinesexton939 Hmmm, i like the lasagna flavor and that's not beef flavoring, I'm all for being frugal but not sure how I'd create the seasoning for that.
I thank all you guys for showing us how to use our Instant Pots. You guys are always showing us great stuff to cook in our new cookers. I really appreciate you effort. To repay you all I found a great trick to keep our pots like new. It really simple. All you do is once you scrub to pot out add a table spoon of lemon and lime juice to the bottom. Then using paper towel smear it around. The stains just vanish. Thanks again pretty ladies.

Well, box meals are generally less healthy than real foods so you could just not buy them and cook from scratch instead, which is very quick in an Instant Pot. Then you wouldn't have to wonder what to do with them. I'm just sayin'. I am even finding the frozen box dinners that I used to depend on are no longer faster.
This is the only video I found that teaches to put the macaroni, butter, and milk in the instant pot and making it this way it comes out so delicious. Much better than traditional stove method.
I'll try these 3 for sure! I usually do my rice a roni in the microwave and I brown the rice 1st. I don't think it's needed to taste better but you could also do that on saute in the instant pot.
We used to make the Kraft mac and cheese in our IP all the time. Then my son had a virus, got sick, and never wanted to eat it again. :( We would make 3 boxes in the 6 quart or 4 boxes in the 8 quart. It's so creamy because all the starch from the noodles stays with it instead of being drained. We always added the milk and cheese after it cooked for 3 minutes. Perfect every time! Will definitely have to try the rice-a-roni. Looks yummy!
I just did the delux kraft mac n cheese with that squeeze cheese pouch! Added a little extra water and did 6 minutes since the noodles are bigger and there was a little more of them and it came out perfect! So much easier than standing over the stove worried about boil overs! Thank you!
I always add a Knorr soup mix when I'm making rice. I add the one half of water the soup mix calls for along with the 1:1.5 that the rice calls for. I've tried all of them. Leek is my favorite.
Love this video! I wanted to try a box mix for a long time, just couldn’t work up the nerve!😂😂 thanks for showing me How!! I’ve learned a lot from you and continue to keep on learning! ❤️😃❤️
This is by far the most encouraging video I have seen yet regarding recipes for my Instant Pot. In fact, I got up right immediately after seeing this video and went to make Kraft dinner at 5:00 today. But even though i followed the directions to the T and I did not get the "burn" error message, It tasted ok but it actually had a burnt aftertaste to it. I also watched the entire video to see if I missed anything...ugh...I am definitely missing something
I love you channel and ideas for cooking in the instant pot. With your vast knowledge, off the cuff, would you be able to give some ideas about how-what to stack in the instant pot? Say cook an entire meal, main and sides, in the instant pot? Items that take approximately the same about of time to cook?
Frozen chicken breast and cubed potatoes: 10 mins. Add frozen veggies when its done and keep in on "keep warm" setting til veggies steam (5 mins ish) super easy
I love the rice-a-roni with either chicken in it, or ground beef and it is so delicious. I also enjoy macaroni and cheese also, but have not tried making it in my Instant Pot yet.
As a gluten free option I do this with some of the Zatarains boxed rice mixes. Precooked chicken and/or sliced up rope sausage, frozen mixed veggies, a 14oz can of diced or whole tomatoes (sliced up a bit into large chunks), maybe some diced up carrots, pretty much just wing it on what to throw in. 2-2.5 cups of water. Oh, and a jambalaya, dirty rice or Spanish rice mix. I've used 10 minutes then 5 natural release, but could probably come down a bit. If adding shrimp I've only used precooked tail-off, thawed and added *after* cooking so they can warm up. I hate to think what they'd be like if you put them in at the start, but it would be bad and your house might reek off horribly overcooked shrimp.
Can't wait to try these. Thanks for sharing. With the Hamburger Helper, have y'all tried putting maybe a can of cream of mushroom and about 1/4 cup of sour cream? I think that would be a great way to spruce up the box meal.
I just followed your directions for making a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and it turned out well. My variations included adding 4 sliced hot dogs and some cayenne pepper to spice it up. I took care to ensure that the liquid covered all of the noodles before I added the butter and hot dogs. When making this, I recommend immediately reacting to the cooking timer to release the steam and stir in the powdered cheese. Some of the noodles stuck to the bottom of the pot, but with quick reactionary time and vigorous stirring I was able to prevent them from scorching. The Instant Pot might not be the best way to cook this meal though. If you are looking to avoid having to use a strainer when boiling the noodles in a pot, there are pots with pouring spouts and special lids for straining. The downside is that you then need to nuke the hot dogs in the microwave before mixing them in the macaroni.
