I hate all the comments about “the fall” when this should really be all about all the Cadets that became Air Force Officers today. We should be so proud and grateful these young men and women have completed an incredibly difficult four years of study so they can serve this country as members of the military. As far as President Biden’s fall I have to say that although I am not a fan of his politics I was very impressed with what he did today. He saluted and shook the hand of all 921 Cadets that graduated over a period of 2 hours after giving a petty darn good speech. His fall can not be blamed on old age or altitude like many of the comments suggest. In truth he simply tripped over a black sandbag that was sitting on a black floor. The sandbag was helping to stabilize one of the teleprompters. Honestly it could have happened to anyone. And although I strongly disagree with a lot of his policies I respect the office and respect what he did today at the Air Force academy.

Back in the mid 60s as an A2C (E3) while getting to new assignments I traveled cross country 4 times hitchhiking, and whenever possible catching space available flights. I once flew in a twin engine Cessna piloted by a Major General! (different story) So, I board a C-47 pretty much shot to hell from hitchhiking and noticed one bunk bed in the rear. Also of notice was a small group of Cadets. Being smarter than most of them, when the seat belt sign went out I was in the bunk. One of the officers-in-training approached me obviously pissed off that I had gotten to the bunk without his permission and said "Young airman, that's my bunk". I leaned out over the edge acting like I was looking for something and my response was " Young airman my ass, I've got more time in grade than you have in service, and I don't see your name on this bunk!" That's the extent of my experience with USAF Cadets. I had more fun with Navy Cadets in Annapolis. In the 50s the Cadets would visit our beaches attempting to impress the girls, and pissing us guys off. A trip to the very narrow streets of Annapolis armed with balloons full of ink on Sunday, when they were wearing their whites, evened the score?
What a huge sacrifice for four years of their lives.
Never tire of watching these.
