    Music & vocals by Farya Faraji. Please note that this isn’t reconstructed ancient music, it’s modern Iranian music with an ancient theme. The lyrics are in the Avestan language, an East Iranic language in whose cultural context the Zoroastrian religion was born, hence why Avestan remains to this day the liturgical language of the religion.
    Airyanam Vaejah is a legendary homeland of the Iranian peoples described in the Zoroastrian texts, variously located by modern researchers in areas around modern Afghanistan and neighbouring regions. The root of the word Airyanam is the same as Iran and Iranian. The Iranians, whose name was pronounced more like Aryan, thousands of years ago, would name their land after them, hence how get Aryana, which over time morphs into Eran, and into Iran, disproving the widely popular myth that Persia, the foreign Ancient Greek exonym of the land, is somehow the ancient, historical name of Iran.
    The instrumentation consists of a tombak drum, a kurdish tanbour, an oud, and a ney flute. The melody uses a more microtonal variant of the mode Shur widely used in the Northwestern parts of the country. The time signature is irregular and in measures of 5, as is common in some Classical Persian music and folk music of the country.
    Lyrics in Avestan:
    Ayrianam khvarano yazamaide,
    Airyanam Vaejo.
    English translation:
    We praise the glory of Iran,
    The Homeland of the Iranians.
    Note on the translation: I decided to translate the terms Aryan and Aryana etc as Iran and Iranian simply because they are the same terms, only evolved in time, much like how "provincia" and "province" are effectively the same words etymologically, only at different points in time.

Gathas along with some of the Yashts are the oldest remaining Iranic texts and are very very old. If they reached us today, it was only because of the Mowbeds who learned it by heart( and for millenias without any writings!) And passed it onto their sons. Now they don't pronounce them correctly?! Unbelievable!

NO ,even Pakistan, afg or Turkey you're talking about had only sunni as majority. Trust me you cannot unite people if you have Orthodox mentality no matter how much force you use. That's not how civilization builds. I've heard in your culture, people can't even dance, can't follow others religion, or appreciate inter-culture ,open to all the rest of the world people. He is the first known philosopher according to axford dictionary of philosophers(2005).
      He was the first to deal with the problem of evil and good in a philosophic way.
      He founded the first monotheist religion. He declared that this universe was created by Ahuramazda who created everything.
      His method was that he decreased the old main gods to be "Ameša spanta"s( holy immortals) who were angelic appearances of the "Ahurāmazdā"(wise lord)
      And decreased the remaining gods to "yazata"s who were divinities "worthy of worship". The other gods who he found unworthy of worship, he declared "Daevas" who are "gods to be rejected" according to Zoroasther himself in Gathas. That is why for the past 3000 years "Daeva" and "Dīv" has meant evil entity among Iranic peoples while other Indo-European languages have always used this word for god.
      This religion is considered monotheistic because Ahurāmazdā is the creator who always existed and wasn't created; and that anything worthy of worship is declared so by Ahurāmazdā.other creators are allowed to do so by him.
      He was vegan and forbade animal sacrifices( replacing it with the herbal sacrifice of "Hum")
      He preached that the world is a place of constant struggle between the good and evil, light and darkness, Yazatas and Daevas, truth and lie, and etc.
      The human being is to choose between the two and will be responsible for his choice In the afterlife(Mīnug).
      His famous teaching that is the fundamental of Zoroastrianism is "Good thoughts, good words, good deeds". Even mind is to be purified from evil thoughts and that is why they held it unlawful to even speak of what was unlawful.

      @@artinrahideh1229i loved this , being hindu I find this extremely similar yet opposite ideology. But it's justified as both has roots with Vedic Indo-European religion. The yazatas are like devatas to indians, and for indians asura(ahuras) are considered demons ,as devas are worshipped here(indra, mithra, varuna, rudra, vishnu, krishna, etc) ,i also loved the concept of worthy of worshipping. In Hinduism also the creator is supreme but there are demigods who are also worshipped but not above the supreme one as mentioned in YajurVeda. Understanding this both religion is really time taking and deep and need so much concentration. I wish somehow this religion will flourish again. In india we already have largest parsi(Zoroastrian) population, even more than their homeland iran.

    • @artinrahideh1229
      @artinrahideh1229 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@_Bappu_ yes. Hinduism and Zoroastrianism are very close to each other( let us not forget that without the Sanskrit language and Vedas, Avesta would have never been understood in a proper way). They both derive from the shared religion of Indo-Iranics before their separation. Even after their separation they continued to develop in a similar way. The old Iranic religion was radically reformed by Zoroasther and all Iranians would eventually follow his teachings even if they weren't Zoroasterian(for example Parthians were Mithraists but had many elements of Zoroaster's teachings). His teachings became so widespread that they became "the religion" but the old rituals and beliefs weren't deposed as much as Zoroaster himself hopes for( except by the hardcore believers).
      In Hinduism though, the Buddha would form a new religion and become a little more defined as a reformer compared to Zoroasther(apart from different teachings and motivations).
      Another similarity between Iranians and Indians is the system of social classes in ancient Iran that resembles the Castes of Hinduism( many people don't realize that Iranians also had a social system of tightly and strictly controlled classes that rarely ever someone could break, Mazdakites fought for the abolition of this system). Clearly both societies were obsessed with effectively controlling and organizing the society. Romans have written about the weird and hard rules of Persians and they might have meant these classes.

    • @_Bappu_
      @_Bappu_ ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@artinrahideh1229 yeah agreed regarding Buddhism and caste system. Though buddha maybe reformer but he didn't got much attention during he existed, and what even more interesting that until 3rd century(which is 300 years after death of Buddha) in ashoka's reign , Buddhism was flourished. In between the time span of 300 years only small population of shakya muni(indo-Sakas, or let's say Buddhist priests) followed Buddhism as new religion.
      As we're talking about similarities, i found another weird similarities here ,in Hinduism, there are mentioned 33 koti(type) gods and in Zoroastrianism also said to be 33 yazatas(which are said to be worthy of worship). Another weird thing is Indra is hero in india but villain (demon) for iranians ,but in case of mithra despite being as devas in vedas ,was worshipped by Iranians. So there are many mysteries which is interesting to explore

    The first of the good lands and countries which I, Ahura Mazda, created, was the Airyana Vaeja, by the Vanguhi Daitya. Thereupon came Angra Mainyu, who is all death, and he counter-created the serpent in the river and Winter, a work of the Daevas.
    There are ten winter months there, two summer months; and those are cold for the waters, cold for the earth, cold for the trees. Winter falls there, the worst of all plagues. -- AVESTA: VENDIDAD 1.2
    I read Vendidad before, but really never expected that its content would be composed into a song. Thank you Farya ☺
    About its possible real location, from Vendidad it seems like that Airyana Vaeja locates in some place of Northern central Asia, it might be some place around Khwarazm since Khwarazm is a cradle of early Iranian civilization (it's also the coldest place in Greater Iran)

    All glory to the righteous soul of Ahura Mazda. I feel it in my bones when I hear many of the songs of @faryaraji - I feel it in my genetic memory (not that one need to Persian/Iranian at all) - I connect with my glorious ancestors (not that I am glorious at all) and it animates me in this life so that I can forever pursue true ideal existence to the best of my ability (the concept of Asha).

The Gathas especially are composed with meter so they’d lend themselves to well to music.
