Whenever I hear this rendition, I feel as though I can hear the centuries of pain and patriotism of the Estonian people. I see the tears in the eyes of the crowd, hear the pride in their voices, and I can't help but to be utterly inspired. The story of Baltic independence is definitely the most beautiful and inspiring epochs of history I've had the pleasure of researching and writing about. I hope one day I can count myself as one among such a distinguished crowd at Laulupidu!

As a Brazilian who lived between South Africa and USA, I am totally engrossed by the power of this singing, the love for The Fatherland expressed by the Estonians as they sing "Mu Isamaa on minu arm." I can't help but am in tears to think about the history of this beloved people. I've never been there, do not know any Estonian, but my heart is gripped by this people... ahhh Estonians... your resilience and love for your country is a charming, powerful example to many in the world... your passion as you sing your national anthem take any sensitive heart to another level. Yes the unofficial anthem, I actually like it better than the real anthem, because it is sadder and deeper and makes more sense because of the history.
I was so happy when my mother was able to witness the Estonians gain their independence again in her lifetime. She was able to return home to Estonia a few times before her death in 2009.
Estonia began to be born when I went to high school and the day I graduated was the day our currency came into being. So my high school time completely happened during the birth of the country. I remember doing my homework every day while the TV was on and there was constant arguing going on about our future legislation. My dad was listening to it every freeking day. I am very happy for your mother. I am happy that I can live the majority of my life in free Estonia, not that it is a perfect country. There is a saying in Estonia that we have what it takes to create an almost perfect society. But we are also too lazy for that :) What about you? Have you ever been here?
I know not a single Estonian....but, I love these people! I love their beautiful patriotism, and how they respect their ancestors and their history, and come together as one, to breathe as one, and to celebrate their wonderful country and their lovely freedom, in such a beautiful way with song!! I'm so very proud of them, and cannot help but shed a tear as I watch this wonderful video. I so wish I could have been there myself to see this, and to feel this, amazing gathering! I was contemporary with the first generations born here and had many friends from Baltic countries growing up and later workmates.

After watching The Singing Revolution years ago, I turn to TH-cam to listen to this song that I don't understand the words but tears well up in my eyes. When ppl lose their freedom it's a universal feeling of shared pain.
Dedicsted to Ukraine today. 🇺🇦 “I will never leave my Fatherland even if when I have to die a hundred deaths for it. You’ll grow flowers from my ashes!” #Ukraine
This song is solely product of Estonian spirit! There are only couple of millions of them in the world , but what an amazing progress they have made after getting out of Soviet Union!!! Very progressive country, though small! Eesti rocks!
I hope you do. The mindset that makes something like this impossible in many west european countries is already on it's way, mostly in academic disguise.

After watching The Singing Revolution years ago, I turn to TH-cam to listen to this song that I don't understand the words but tears well up in my eyes. When ppl lose their freedom it's a universal feeling of shared pain.

Beautiful, and good looking people overal, first observation is that Estonians look wise kind of resemble Scandinavians, don’t they?
Estonians are technically Nordic and very proud!

Dedicsted to Ukraine today. 🇺🇦 “I will never leave my Fatherland even if when I have to die a hundred deaths for it. You’ll grow flowers from my ashes!” #Ukraine
No it is NOT dedicated to Ukraine!. Not everything is about Ukraine!
This song is solely product of Estonian spirit! There are only couple of millions of them in the world , but what an amazing progress they have made after getting out of Soviet Union!!! Very progressive country, though small! Eesti rocks!
@@gerberag8104 As an Estonian I can’t help but think about Ukraine when listening to this or any other Estonian patriotic song now.

This is how you survive.
Surrounded by your eesti people, as one
I hope you do. The mindset that makes something like this impossible in many west european countries is already on it's way, mostly in academic disguise.
