- Coghlan's Camping Challenge! In this video, I camp at an actual campground for once, but with only Coghlan's Gear. Some of the gear I liked, some was disappointing. Overall it made for a pretty fun camping experience.
Thanks for watching & hope you enjoy!

The funnel is for the gas for lamps and stoves.
With the survival tin, peel the lid off, empty, bend lid in the middle and wedge sideways back into the tin. Place candle in the tin, and the lid should act as a windbreaker while you light it. Also, candle light will reflect off the lid. Or, get a head torch 😂
That definitely would have worked!
Thanks for watching!
I've never heard of using bubble gum as bait, but in the 60s we used it as a float. Blow a bubble and attach it to the string. We made fishing poles out of tree branches and used string for the line and safety pins for hooks.
Those trains weren't that bad. The CN line is 1 1/2 blocks from my house and the CP is just across the Thompson River.
Jon in rural BC, Canada
I've only HEARD of it as bait, but I haven't ever caught anything that way, so who knows! That float trick is pretty sweet though, may try it out one day.
I expect to see more CN trains down here on the Tex-Mex border. There's discussion of an additional 2nd rail bridge over the River.
I use this stuff religiously. Love their gear.
I was pleasantly surprised with most of it!
The way he didn't even seem to flinch when that hammock dropped a little... I'd have likely shit myself. :P
Haha! I set it at a height that I'd be okay falling from 😅
Awesome video, my friend! Laughed my tail off with the “look how happy he is!” comment!
Haha! I immediately knew the tarp would be a success.
Thanks for watching bud
I love this challenge.
I hope everyone does this challenge.
Subbed👍
Thanks I appreciate it! Same here, I love seeing everyone's take on these "cheap" gear challenges.
I really enjoyed Trip Smiths thrift store challenge, check it out if you have the time!
you could in a pinch use the edge of the pull-off lid as a blade
I enjoy their camping stuff. Cheap, effective, and reliable.
I was pleasantly surprised with a few of their items! I regularly use their fire starters and paracord.
Thanks for watching!
@@CampfiresandColdBeers off course!! Maybe I'll try that survival kit in a can on my next camping trip.
Keep it up brother 👍💪
Enjoy watching your every video 😉
More power to you 💟
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching bud
The hammock gave me a good laugh. 😂
Thats my way to cook corn 🙌 sometimes I do like to husk it and get some char, but grilled is the way to go
Did this way once out of desperation and never looked back!
Your efforts are the story of my life “the hard way”! Lol
Hah! I don't recall exactly which part in the video you're quoting, but I'm a strong believer that we learn better from harder times or failures.
The filter is for pouring white gas into your gas stove. I have one for my Coleman Stove. It helps keep debris out of your tank.
Fun challenge. I was hoping you were going to catch a fish🎣😁
Makes perfect sense! I've never used a gas stove, but that explains why it was in the "camp stove" section.
Thanks for the info and for watching!
Very cool! They used to sell a folding knife that was an Opinel knock off. Thanks for sharing my friend 🤠
That sounds like the one I saw online! Looked exactly like an Opinel.
Thanks for watching!
You do get what you pay for. ⛺ 🔥 🌲
Absolutely, I still feel there's definitely a place for this type of gear. Thanks for watching!
The filter funnel is made for fuel, but if you have a new one and no coffee filters you could use it for that.
Good to know! I found out a few weeks later and it seemed so obvious afterwards!
Thank you for sharing great video, love the hammock.
Thanks for watching!
The only beer I have ever thrown away was Sierra Nevada Celebration. There is a can of Taft's Son of a Nutcracker peppermint stout in the fridge that my daughter gave me last Christmas. She gave me two. I drank one. I should probably throw it out.
Peppermint Stout definitely sounds interesting. That's too bad though, Sierra Nevada makes some pretty decent beers!
Your best video yet! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks!
Great job on the video! Enjoyed it very much.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Good video. I'm a new sub. Keep'em coming
Thanks for watching!
Always useful & interesting. Well done ❤
Thanks bud!
Hello from Vermont. LOL
Hah, cheers! I'll be back soon for another grocery haul!
I think the salmon and the tomatos and rice would make a nice meal
Wasn't half bad! Thanks for watching!
Those matches are the best advertisement for UCO matches ive seen.😅
Reveal the wick, then you can easily.light the candle.
👍
😂…when the hammock fell. Oh, man.
Exactly why I didn't set up above the rocks & water! 😅
Thanks for watching!
🌽As for ur corn, soak husks in water pull back husk remove hair add butter salt and pepper pull husk back over corn{wrap in foil if u have it and stick on coals}.
That sounds delicious! I'll have to try it
@@CampfiresandColdBeers if u have a real hot fire or if the ears are going to be on for a while olive oil is better{less likely to burn}. And the longer u soak the husks the better. A little garlic salt or fav. seasoning is good also...
A machete IS one of the most useful and universal tools you can take into the wilderness. You can cut, chop, split, scrape, carve, plane, spark, hammer, cook and defend yourself with a machete. The one caveat is you should keep a sharpening stone or a file with your machete.
Oh absolutely! I would have definitely opted for the axe or machete had I been out in the woods. Found a machete a bit overkill at a campsite and didn't want to frighten any nearby campers 😅
Thanks for watching!

Any problems with condensation inside the mylar bag?
Not that I recall, If I remember right I probably slept with an arm out, which allowed for some circulation. But I feel like it could be a concern in some conditions since it's pretty much "air tight" other than the main opening.
@CampfiresandColdBeers ok, great. Yes, because you had some circulation minimized the condensation. But it's really good to see your results because the mylar bivvy and space blankets really get a lot of attention. They are also the most packable kind of protection. I guess if they are used properly, they will work well. I would like to see more of the proper application of this material. Thanks for suffering for us. 😆
What campsite is that? It looks nice. Ahhh je me doutais t'etais Quebecois!
Hah oui! I completely forget where I mentioned Quebec in this video 😅
It's Glengarry Campgrounds in Eastern Ontario. Just 10-20 minutes west, there are a ton of other campgrounds (they were closed at this point in the season) along the "Long Sault Parkway", worth a look!
@@CampfiresandColdBeers I wasn't sure a fist but when you mentioned Dorval local brewery I figured! Ok thanks I will have to look!
I'd love to have all of their stuff. If you dont want it, send it to me.
I'm about to give some stuff away locally (shipping is ridiculous here). If you're in the Montreal area, let me know!
Why,,,,,,this stuff is garbage
That's the whole "challenge" idea! To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised with a few pieces of their gear
