    That was a fine demonstration of the sound of XY recordings versus binaural recordings. As you might guess from the recording at my TH-cam channel, my preference strongly leans towards binaural recording.
    Cheers!

    XY vs Binaural mics, i prefer the XY, more definition in the sound, the Binaural one feel like there's some sound definition missing. And i'm not even using headphones.
    So personally i would go for the XY mic, not the Binaural, only because of the sound quality and definition.

    I found your music while looking for binaural mic videos. I really enjoyed your playing so I did some research, and let's just say I'm in love with this prog frankenstein I found on your Bandcamp page

    Amazing! This really makes a huge difference. Although my own voice and any microphone are sworn enemies (I sound like a crow) it's interesting to know what the difference can be for a singer or any instrument that uses complicated intonations.

      Overall, binaural microphones are the best for stereo definition and spatialization.
      Imagine recording in the center of a choir of an orchestra, or in the nature, city, kids playground...
      If you listen with headphones you can close your eyes and guess from which direction the sound comes, if there are obstacles, which type of room it was recorded in, if a door or a window opens etc...
      Immersive possibilities are endless and I've been super happy with the results.
      My only regret is that I got it super late in the production process so I didn't used it as much as I would.
      Ambisonic microphones are also super great for a 360 sound, perfect for 5.1 (and more) post production stuff but I find it more confusing when grouped into a stereo track.

    which binaural mics sound the best? There are so many from 80 dollars to 10,000 dollars. I guess which is the best buy?

      I don't really know. I've tried these ones and the neumann head so pretty much both ends of the spectrum. Of course the neumann sounds better and is more balanced but the purpose of using a binaural mic is definitely have a nice 3d representation and spacialization, and both worked super well. So I would say a budget solution works as well as the top of the line.

      Those are soundman okm, I don't remember if it's the classic or studio version, and it might have changed since that time anyway.

    Can someone help me? Can I record OKM II using an audiointerface?

    • @clems6belio
      @clems6belio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need the A3 adapter that is sold by soundman.

  • @iamdrdeath
    @iamdrdeath ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome! Did you record the Soundman via the Zoom?

    • @clems6belio
      @clems6belio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no. For some shots and recording I use an adapter and straight to my audio interface and computer, for other shots I recorded with the zoom yep. Depends of how remote I am from my studio
