One thing that I find curious, and haven't come across a tafsir or interpretation on it in detail, is why does God make a distinction in the Qur'an between what Harut and Marut taught in Babylon, what the demons later on did during Solomon's reign and the false accusation that he practiced sihr? Was Solomon's miracles akin to magic but they are haram now under Prophet Muhammad's shariah?
