    Aren't we going to address the inappropriate situation in Ishqiya when Hamza forces himself into Hamna's room and gets super close! My problem with this track is that it glorifies this behaviour and will encourage guys who idolise Feroze. No means no!

      Sadia Khan they were all before they got married and tbh were mere flirtatious encounters. Married men with a young daughter cheat, deny, and then get married to the woman they were allegedly having an affair with but in those cases we’re supposed to mind our own business and let them live their lives. However in this show we’re supposed to condemn this young girl who just got married for her past indiscretions, wth

      Sadia Khan she didn’t even have an “affair” she just flirted with these men, there’s a big difference. Razi was stupid, he should’ve just accepted the past and moved on rather than being this stupidly emotional

      Still... it’s in her past. She wasn’t cheating on his and so it’s not his right to hate her for her past.

    Hassan , Miraal’s ego has been hit hard because Anaya is the issue over which her once obedient brother has gone against her wish.
    I feel before it all, she had molded Hassan to look up to her for all his life decisions, big or small. So this does not obviously sit right with her since she is used to getting her way especially with Hassan.
    Miraal is not the most important woman in her brother’s life anymore... this middle class girl has replaced her.
    Imagine a narcissist, being dethroned in the eyes of someone important by a person they find inferior to them.

    Hamza is NOT a tragic hero. You can only term the protagonist as a "tragic hero" if only the genre is tragedy which is definitely not the case with Ishqiya. It's one of those lame dramas where the male lead will keep on being a jerk throughout the whole show and end up getting the girl. Also Hamza was never a likeable character, he has never done a single thing where he didn't get the profit. His every action was self serving. He was always controlling and dominating towards hamna. And the makers have ROMANTICIZED this. They are still romanticizing him cheating on his wife, him harassing a girl. His flaws don't have any reasonable back story either to call him a tragic hero. If you say he is doing all of these because hamna left him, then what he is doing right now clearly tells he never LOVED her. It was just his ego. Even before his behavior with hamna was never love it was just his obsession.

    • @sidrakafeel9160
      @sidrakafeel9160 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True..hamza just want to be around hamna when he deeply madly loved her and now in revenge he is doing same with all criminal mind,hamza is still same from day one self centered, selfish and mean..both hamza and hamna should b stay alone in the end for what they have done with rumi.

    • @isbah9995
      @isbah9995 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      100% agreed. He is definitely not a 'tragic hero'. Completely irresponsible to call it such and for the show to glorify and romanticise this toxic behaviour.

    'Tragic hero' is someone whose flaws are destroying his own life or those who in someway related to the tragedy that has befallen him.
    The moment he dragged an innocent like Rumi into his web of deception he lost all sympathy.
    Koi suicide kare jo ki bohot bara gunaah hai..tab bhi log sympathize karte hai.
    Par jab kisi masoom ko harm kar diya tum ne apni zidd mein ...tab you lose all rights to feel like a victim or deserving of sympathy.
    Main nahi kar paungi Hamza se empathy or sympathy or pity. nahi hoga. sorry.

    I am really bothered about Pyar Ke Sadqay.
    First of all, Abdullah keeps on misbehaving with Mahjabin, that day he insulted her in the mall.
    Second, she is being taunt by the fact that she belongs to a poor family and her habits are inappropriate. Which is problematic, because they knew she is slow and doing her best to impress Abdullah.
    Next, they are trying to change her by saying that upper class has "sophisticated" way of living. Whereas, they aren't even bothered by other factors that keep on belittling Mahjabin.
    I would like you to have a discussion on this matter.

      I see nothing wrong is trying to teach Mahjabeen the "sophisticated" manners that helps her fit in with the crowd she will be interacting with. It is never too late to learn and nothing wrong to adapt to newer and more useful changes.
      Belittling her for her upbringing and her class, however is wrong.

    The best thing about Sabaat is that both Anaya and Miraal are strong women. Usually, dramas portray "good girls" as damsels in distress, who are weak and vulnerable. But I love how Anaya is also a strong woman. She is confident, well-educated, outspoken, knows her rights and stands up for herself. This is shown through little things like Anaya giving a speech and Anaya driving a car, which is still a big thing in the Asian society, if a middle class woman drives a car.

    THOROUGHLY impressed by Amna's analysis of the " tragic hero" concept and its relevance to Hamza's character!
    Even though I'm usually on #teamHassan, this time around I'm a little disappointed that Hassan deflected such a captivating concept without pausing to reflect on what Amna was trying to communicate. (maybe because he is frustrated by the poor premise that Ishqiya has to offer and doesn't want to waste his brain cells on its analysis? My bias towards Hassan is obvious! LOL).
    I understand why you (Hassan) called Joker a villain, because when the story is told from Batman's perspective, Jack Napier (the original Joker) IS the villain. However, when you watch the story through Arthur Fleck's lens (the recent Joker release), he's a tragic hero. Which is why I find the Joker to be an extremely engaging, fluid character, because he's untethered to any solid story line.
    "Ishqiya" on the other hand doesn't deserve this level of intellect for its reviews, yet I'm very much invested in the idea that Hamza isn't inherently flawed and is simply a self serving, stubborn character who has made a consequential decision based solely on the grief that he experienced as a result of Hamna's betrayal. He has deluded himself into thinking that he's out to take revenge when in reality he's the who is suffering and will continue to suffer.
    I've always found such characters (and villains) to be more compelling than the goody two shoes, Johnny-on-the-spot kinds that our dramas often portray. (Probably that's the reason why I both cringe and enjoy Sarwar's scenes in PKS)
    In real life, there are more anti-heroes and tragic heroes than there are pure villains and saints.
    Thanks for the "intellectual treat" Amna and keep it up you guys!

    • @ik1033
      @ik1033 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with you 💯.
      And maybe he realizes he is suffering and he wants to subject Humna to the same pain or a part of the pain he is experiencing. He’ll start suffering when I guess Humna tells Azeem everything and with his support she will be able to fight Hamza off.
      But Humna is so weird. I mean how can she overnight stop loving a guy she loved so much. But maybe she is trying to make the best of the situation she has been handed.

    • @rayj8893
      @rayj8893 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see nothing likeable about Hamza ..he is rude arrogant selfish conniving deceitful and gets away with bullying people around him to make them give in to his wishes. Quite unlike a tragic hero who is primarily a victim that invokes the viewer's sympathy ( think Devdas ).
      Agree there is something intriguing about Sarwar in PKS , despite his many flaws, abusive and manipulative character. One thing I noted was that his feelings for Mehjabeen were totally sincere , this was proven in the first few episodes when he directly asks her father for her hand in marriage .

      @@blackpeahen Azeem is pretty cool. He's awesome actually. Everything you said describes his mother. His mother's monologue when Hamna was sitting in the room dressed as a bride was about all her "domestic responsibilities as the honour of the household" while Azeem's was far more progressive and outlined equal expectations from both husband and wife, towards the relationship. Right now Azeem is a little hurt and really wants to trust his wife, hoping she would be comfortable sharing the truth with him of her own accord. He's giving her the space for it. Hardly has he ever put his foot down. He even covers for Hamna before his mother so she thinks the best of her. Hamza is the one controlling Hamna more than Azeem and Hamna with some weird stroke of luck has ended up with Azeem, a guy she barely knew who's thoughtful and unreactive. He takes a step back and views everything objectively. If he was insecure or narrow-minded, he would have kept Hamna from attending college or appearing for finals after he saw him with that guy (Hamza's friend) because of whom Azeem suspects, she's been repeatedly lying to him.

    • @blackpeahen

      @@aliyabawany2444 there was actually a scene perhaps if you can recall... Before they got married. Azeem and his mum are talking about how Azeem needs to compromise and he flat out refuses. He said he's seen his mum make all the sacrifices and that's what his wife will do. Another one was the morning after their Shaadi when her parents had to get BF for them. Azeem was visibly annoyed. I just felt that as long as she follows the traditional bahu rules he will be happy. Toda idhar udhar hojaye he might not be able to handle it. But I can appreciate your point of view as well :)

    • @aliyabawany2444
      @aliyabawany2444 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blackpeahen While the discussion may well have ended here, the odds are in Azeem's favour. Azeem and his mom kind of swapped personalities as Hamna settled in. So the breakfast annoyance when Hamna had run so late as to hit noon, was pretty minor and can be excused. Azeem's mom now sometimes shows depth but she doesn't want to let Hamna have a free reign, she wants to keep the girl in her place. Whereas before the marriage, Hamna the pillar of silence kind of made Azeem nervous and he shared his concerns with his mother, who defended Hamna as someone who might just be shy. Now whenever Azeem's mom needlessly compares her youth at her in-laws' to Hamna's, Azeem and his dad wait for her to cool down. Azeem in answer to Hamza's question has experienced falling passionately in love (ishq) for the very first time, "after" marriage.

    Amna is quite biased about Feroz, as she rightly admitted today, and that reflects as her empathy for Hamza. I thought she would sternly call out Hamza's barging in on Hamna in a hotel room, in her husband's absence, and forcefully pinning her against a wall, intimidating her, measuring her uneven breathing, giving her a recap of her meek, defenceless past where he "owned" her. Men like him think girls are sent into the world with a tag reading, "Belongs to xyz". How could he just push the door inside when Hamna opened it? How dare he keep tabs on her, watch her walk arm in arm with Azeem and then later confront her on "getting close" with him? Hamza has no respect for her privacy. How dare he assume Hamna wasn't getting along with Azeem just because her marriage was arranged in a rush? He has lost the consent to call her "Meri Hamna" while standing within an inch of her, and then he had the nerve to address her as "kamzor" in the past, present and future. When he said "future" the viewers could hear that he hit the wall out of passion. If the female protagonist was ever allowed to slap the male, this was the moment. I wish Hamna's uprising would have started with this massive slap. Hamza is dictating her life and then he gloats. But all Amna noticed is Hamna's deteriorating holiday dressing choice when Hamna's dressing throughout the play hasn't really shown variety. Her bell bottom white trousers and white chiffon or net dupatta goes with every plain cotton shirt she wears, especially after her wedding. Her dressing is just as boring as her facial expression. At least she was wearing a multicoloured top/kurti recently.

    I understand and agree with Aamna's explanation about Feroze being a tragic hero. I think it is because she sees things in the grey as well, not just black and white (villain/unlikeable - hero/having all likeable traits) like most people do.
    Overall, I am loving these reviews aamnay saamnay beth k :D

    Sabaat is currently amazing and I hope it stays that way! Loved Miraal's Laila Majnu comment, and her sarcastic smile as a parting shot when she spoke to Anaya's parents. Their discomfort & hesitation about Anaya's rishta is extremely realistic, as in our community a girl doesn't just marry a guy... The other relatives have to be considered too. Hania was really good in Dilruba, like Hassan I'm apprehensive about how long her punishment will stretch out 😕

    Hamza's character shows toxic masculinity.. it gives a very negative impression to ppl who watch it.. and it's bit sad that Amna is trying to justify him being possessive and chasing after a woman who is clearly not interested in him. anymore

    Being a literature student, can totally relate to "Hamza as Tragic Hero".

    • @FaizanAyyub.1
      @FaizanAyyub.1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He's not a tragic hero..study literature properly..Amna's not being logical here bcz there's no connection.Yeah you can say he's just a character who has some flaws and has become borderline negative but makers are dealing it in a light manner and even romanticising it.

    • @FaizanAyyub.1
      @FaizanAyyub.1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tragic hero has some error of judgement or hamartia which leads to his downfall otherwise a noble character and there's a dramatic irony in the downfall and audience must feel for it and at the end it must be realised that downfall was brought upon by his own actions..May be some other term you can use for Hamza but not tragic hero especially in Aristotelian context.And about Miral and Sanam are simply negative characters who are potentially to be good at the end especially Miŕaal.

    • @aayzei13
      @aayzei13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you are obviously right! Relating to it just for the debate of Hamza as villain or Tragic hero. Rest of the things will be confirmed till we proceed with the drama further.

    I really liked your intellectual review on all the characters, specially Hamza's. As for me I like his character because he has been shown possessive about his love interest and he had also been shown as a person with kind heart when he took his father in law to hospital. I was not aware of the term tragic hero. He seems to be. But it is too much. This is too much of harassment. But i think Hamna is reluctant to tell him because as far i remember, when they were getting engaged, Azeem and Hamna, he asked her something that meant that i don't like a girl who is involved with someone. He is a reserved man agreed. But i don't know why by looking at Gohr, either he is doing a positive character, it seems that he is going to do something grey. I just get these vibes from him. secondly i remember when the cast of Ishaqiya came to Good Morning Pakistan, they said that Gohar's character is dream of every girl. They did not say it is a positive or a negative character. So in that note it seems that Hamna is going to share it with Azeem and then he is going to make things right. Another aspect is this that rumi will come to know about the story first. As we saw in promos that Rumi is saying this to Hamna that "meri apni behan mere sath asa ker sakti hai main ne kabhi socha bhi nahi tha".....

    Dear Amana. I also have a literature and linguistic's degree. So yeah! Your association of Hamza with Aristotle's tragic hero is perfectly fine n I completely understand your point. Also, while watching the previous review episode it came across my mind and then in this one you said it all, like a true literary critic. Qudoos to you!
    You always give us a different angle to look at and an impressing insight into things. I actually follow your reviews because I often find you thinking on the same lines and then sometimes even being more critical in a literary way. You donot have to say that you are over analysing things or something... you are doing justice to your work completely. Stay blessed!

Good acting from supporting cast, n we need such mothers n women in our society which zahira and her mother played, so strong. Just talk for a while on it in ur video, acknowledge it, just a summary. U can watch its last episode, it has its summary. V good points in this drama.

    A little piece of advice from me. so i know that this is not a typical vlog channel or where you share about your lives but i feel like that to engage more you should share about your experiences. for example the thing Ma’am Amna explained tragic hero was something i had never heard. thank you for sharing it but i couldn’t understood from where was it coming. i hope you understand my point. another example that you said you’d lost your friend who was it like:,)
