I’m impressed with a piece of kit like this. Being American made and stainless is a big deal for me! I’d rather spend extra on better quality and supporting American jobs. Thank you sir! -Isaac
Loved the comment about not having to use the heat gun . People cooked for thousands of years without a heat gun or meat temperature probe and they survived !! It's amazing how many people can't cook without them ..
When I first saw this, I was a bit PO'd since I'd just bought my Blackstone (Chinese made, btw). I remember Mom cooking on the restaurant stainless flat top and was excited. Checked out their pricing...Not on this blue collar guy's price list. Neil, I'm glad for you that you get to go back to your comfort zone with the stainless. Just don't forget us blue collar guys that love your cooks and recipes! Thank you for your service. Proud grandson, nephew of Navy Vets and a very proud son of a Korean War Airborne Vet!
Very cool review. Got to see a live demo of their griddles and they are definitely well made and the quality is top notch. Glad to hear they are made in the USA. 🇺🇸
I have been a commercial food equipment technician for over 25 years. I own a black stone griddle and it's great for home use and does cook good for the avarage home owner. I would say this unit would be for the persone who wants the absolute best griddle experiance who is a chef/cook and wants to use a griddle at home with similar results. The way you check the temp/calibrate this unit is using a griddle puck and meter that you can buy off Amazon. Make sure the griddle is level that will help with heat being even across the cooking surface.
Glad to see you reviewing this gem!! I have had my 30in for about 5 months now and I LOVE IT!!!!! Advice---I start out on low and stay on low unless I am cooking a steak because this griddle gets very hot even when kept on low. This is because of the patented cast iron plate under the stainless steel top. Tip. When you are finished cooking and after you scraped the food off you can pour down a bowl of ice (yes, it's safe per LeGriddle) and I got the red scour pads from Amazon and a long handled scour pad holder from a separate company and this makes clean up a breeze.
@@TheFlatTopKing You bet bud. Thanks for all you do for us!!! BTW, the grill surface thermometer I got from amazon is a 2 inch Winco (good reviews) and the red pads also from amazon are 3m scotch brite red pads but the green ones work good too.
A few months ago, I bought a Vevor Commercial electric griddle. It's for indoor, on top of your stove top. I paid $350 CAD, Canadian dollars. The dimensions are 28.75"x 15.75", it covers most of your stove top. I have a Camp Chef for the hot summer but in the cold weather indoor with my electric griddle. Big fan, keep up the good work. Peace.
Ok I have a problem with words right now. BUT with that being said. I HATE (or I mean LOVE) the simple and effect way that you walk through your videos. Keep up the content. I now have to get a stainless griddle because that was what I wanted initially. But with being said...Thanks for all that you do. I have learned a lot on this griddle journey.
Hey Neal we got our Blackstone griddle this week and your Smash This seasoning arrived just in time. Everyone loved the burgers! I'm looking forward to more of the same. Stuff is good. Thanks for all the videos, and above all thank you for your service, sir.
I own a LeGriddle and I would have to say I think it is a real trade-off for the stainless vs. being able to use an IR gun. I tried by an IR Thermo gun with adjustable emmissivity coefficient hoping that would help adjust for the stainless vs. cast iron surface reflectivity. Others claim success with that, but I found it very inconsistent. Overall happy with the griddle, but one word of advice for those using NG vs. Propane....unlikde many gas grills, the LeGriddle does not come with an inbuilt pressure regulator. For me this was absolutely neccessary as without it, even low settings were reaching 400. The PR valve I got was a Blackstone, so I am guessing the same is true for those, but don't know that for certain as I don't own one. Anyway, great to see a video featuring what I have....surprisingly few videos with that brand.
I’ve never had a flat top before but just had a Le Griddle installed in my outdoor kitchen. Feeling good about my purchase! Would love to see more videos/tips on how to cook on stainless. Thank you!!
That looks like an awesome griddle! Whenever I could afford something like that I would love to have it in my arsenal. The cleanup looks nice and easy. I used to do short order stuff back in the day and that's all we'd clean it with is water and scraper. I'm also not a fan of mayo on toasted bread. Butter gives much better flavor. Toasting is about the same from when I tried it. Those burgers look awesome! Excellent maillard reaction. Such a great review video Neal!!
Thank you for a great show. The infrared thermometer was the most important information for me. I never saw that from Le Griddle. I usually do the after cook clean with a bucket of ice on a hot griddle. Thanks again for your this show and pellets....
I think you have another keeper, puts you back in the galley and turning out great meals as usual. Sounds like you both like it a lot. Stay safe and keep up the great recipes and fun you all have around there. Fred.
Great review, glad I saw this before going with a built in griddle. Haven’t seen a griddle designed for built in kitchens perform better than a $200 Blackstone. Was thinking this griddle would have better heat distribution because of the cast iron base.
There used to be a great Hamburger place in our town when I was growing up, I knew a couple guys that worked their, I went one night when they were closing up and watched how they clean there stainless griddle - It was with Dill Pickle Juice. Every night they used that at closing time. I always remembered that - You should give it a shot and see your thoughts.
Excellent video, glad you have the SS griddle. One side comment, I never use orange Cheddar cheese, only white, if you got milk from a cow that color you would never drink the milk or eat the cheese. Ha Ha Thanks for the video.
I loved my stainless when working at a restaurant. The brick you had to use to clean it was not as much fun. so I made sure to stay on top of it daily!
I love the idea of this grill! I wish it had been available when I built my outdoor kitchen because I might have gone with it over the Evo. Regarding cleaning as you go, hell yes. At my dad's DQ, between burgers, we would scrape the spot and have it ready for the next burger. This predates smash burgers by decades, and we only used pre-pressed 1/4 pound patties. Funny enough, it also predates bacon burgers! The bread test exposed what I believed might be the case when you were unboxing the unit. The top should be 3/4 to 1" stainless slab, or if the manufacturer wanted to get extra fancy, they could clad a few layers of aluminum inside. But it's got to be thick to be even corner to corner. Great review. I hope Le Griddle sees this comment and will consider releasing a "Pro" clad model. Nice work team Amy and Neal!
Not being able to get all the browning off of the stainless steel would bug me. I'd probably have to hit it with a copper steel wool after every use but you can't really do that hot and keep your fingers. Great review!
Great segment sir. thats a nice little griddle. like you said, a bit on the high end. it seems to cook up pretty well. thanks for doing the review. I'm sure you enjoyed being back on the stainless/

Many moons ago I worked at McDonalds. This was before microwaves when you actually had to cook the burgers. We had stainless steel grills (griddles) and they were great to cook on. Eggs didn’t stick either. Of course we used a good amount of butter though. I like the looks of this griddle and may have to get it. Thanks for sharing
I love using stainless steel for cooking. There is a third party on Amazon that makes a stainless steel replacement top for Blackstones and Royal Gourmets too. I have a Char-Griller so they won't work for me, but they might be worth trying out.
So I actually looked for a SS top for the Camp Chef, but I didn't think the quality was there. This is beautiful, and I know just how well SS cooks. I'm surprised by the bread test as well, I was anticipating that to be much more even. Either way, a beautiful set-up brother!
Nice looking griddle. Like you said it’s not for everyone. I’ll stick with my Blackstone but some may like the change. Thanks for the video. Always fun to watch your videos. GBO. #7 now.

Interesting and I'm in the market for a new 2 burner for the RV. Not sure I'm ready to try to master a SS unit. I'm leaning towards the Camp Chef Versatop x2.
Hey @FlatTopKing how about a video on a stainless griddle insert for a Weber Genesis. I found one on Amazon and really thinking about it. Could be a good pro/con video vs. rolled steel. Thanks and Kudos!!!
For the price point this griddle is going for, you can get a commercial SS flat-top off of marketplace or from a restaurant supply joint that deals in used commercial equipment that won't suffer from hot spots.
At my dad's Dairy Queen, we preheated our old Lincoln with the thick stainless slab for a minimum of 30 minutes. It's a limitation worth ignoring in my opinion!
this weekend i use the shake that on my boneless skinless chicken thighs and hamburgers and now i put it on my stir fry i think i'm going to put on everything i make.
Wish you would have panned into where the burners are so wd could see the setup, especially since its only two burners. Is it just one tube on each side or do they bend and go back towards the front.
Shiny things/ Lord of the Rings. I too cut my teeth cooing with commercial stainless steel. It shows and proves what I have always said to friends you do not need a $2000.00 and up back yard griddle to cook good food. You have proved that a hundred times with your previous cooks. Having said said that, you have given all of us to the opportunity to make up our mind from a super hands on video presentation. Koo dos my friend Koo dos!
Takes me 10 min tops to get my griddle surface looking pristine again. I have no time for much with my busy life so seasoning and keeping up with that in the humid area I live in was not an option.. I researched how to clean this particular griddle b4 I got one and it works pretty quick. I have the same 30 inch the FTK has. Heat up, scrape up excess food, oil in the grease tray and throw down some ice. Use a red 3M scotch brite red or grreen pad and finish up with paper towels. Easy peasy and no seasoning required.
Pretty narrow heat zones - heat distribution not the best - considering the underside of the griddle plate - SS can be great when you learn how to care for it. - Cheers! LOL - Right bicep reference... 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I've always been curious about stainless steel griddles. Le Griddle is pretty pricey! Have you considered reviewing the stainless steel griddle tops found on Amazon?
I have a Le Griddle Could you provide suggestions cleaning a stainless steel griddle compared to a cast iron griddle. (show suggestion) It seems like two different animals. I use the 3m scotch bright pad soap and water on a cold griddle and it gets it 92 percent. Any suggestions to get that new griddle look?
My recollection of cleaning a fully commercial sized stainless steel griddle, was brick sized pumice stone and elbow grease, while it was still hot, and wiping it down. Not sure if water was the only thing that I used or not. It had to be gleaming for the next shift. Hope that helps!
It appears that the griddle you are using is the GFE75 and that it has side rails on all 4 sides of the griddle. When I look at the BBQ Guys website they show the griddle with side rails on 3 sides, not on the front of the griddle. What am I missing? I don't want to purchase a griddle without a rail on the front of the griddle.
Hey Neal. I don't know if you've ever ordered any beef from 44 farms. Place in Texas. I ordered some. It's black Angus. And I made a smashburger with that yesterday and it has the best flavor. Tastes like something from a steakhouse. It's a little bit pricey but if you get the bigger quantity the price per pound ends up being very close to something bought in the store. I would highly recommend you trying some. It doesn't have to be something you put in a video, but just letting you know that is some good beef if you'd like to give it a try!
I told FTK that I got the Winco 2 inch griddle surface thermometer. It comes with a pot clip but that doesn't matter. Not sure which one he will get but just letting u know I got this one from Amazon. Hope this helps.
I wish you would have shown a bread test comparison with a good cast iron griddle; although I agree we all have to learn how to best use our grills this seems to be a fail for me. Also scraping constantly a cooking stainless steel surface is just a strange choice that will look awful very quickly. There are some good reasons why high end griddles are not made of stainless steel.
@@TheFlatTopKing Commercial griddles cooking surfaces are often made polished steel while everything other parts including drip trays are indeed made of stainless steel.
holy cow. you werent kidding about how pricey those are lol! i mean i get it not being cheap because its stainless but those prices caught me off guard
Very interesting. Do they have a electric version? I'm currently looking at a griddle from Vevor that is electric. I'm building a new complete kitchen this fall/winter and ii want to use my griddle even wheen the weather is terrible. Have a great day 🌤
@jamesstein5087 I was planning on using 220V already. It won't be difficult because I'll be running 220V for the oven. Now I'm looking for a 60" overhead cooking fan so the cooking grease doesn't float through the house. Basically it will be a residential commercial kitchen. I'm soooo looking forward to cooking in it. Thanks everyone.
What stainless grill do you recommend that’s affordable for regular folks I know very few people that. A pay $3500 to 5000 for a grill? If you would get one that’s at least under $1500 and demo it for us please?
Unfortunately your dealing with 304 stainless...that aint cheap to start with...this was 1999....expensive yes...coyote, blaze and others are just as expensive...look at evo...thats a 4,000 griddle...not stainless...
Where do I buy that one you demonstrated for $1999 please, I’m a 77 year old retired and tired recon Marine Major 64/84 The Navy had the best food when I served we always looked forward to eating on the ships
If Traeger made a stainless grill top I would be all over that like crazy... The only thing I hate about having a griddle is the cast iron, because I can never keep it seasoned well enough.
I watched chef Tom use one of those from atbbq A few years ago and thought they looked cool but it is expensive. Do you think the stainless steel would be easier to keep clean and not rust as much. I live in North Carolina and my griddle will rust. Very easy outside
SS is not immune to rust. When in storage you would need to spray it down with Pam and cover with parchment paper. And throw a tarp over it if outdoors.
@@jamesstein5087 ok thank you! And judging by the price of that thing, I'll probably just stick with what I have and keep it seasoned and taken care of because those things are pricey
I'm thinking that because of the iron plate under the ss top, you would have gotten a more even cook area than some of those bread pieces showed if u had started the test at around 25 min preheat.. The reason is i think 18 minutes you said you waited b4 putting the bread down. Just not sure that was long enough because i don't seem to have some of those cooler spots your bread was showing. The middle row and bottom row across, def yes, cooler. Left and right extreme sides yes cooler for me too but when I look at your toast on YOUR left as you are cooking in the video I am surprised because I don't find that that side is that cool on mine.. I preheat on low for at least 25 minutes using my surface thermometer and sliding it around to check. I will say that when I have both burners on low it seems that on my left side, the flame is a tad higher than the right side when I look through the side vents, for whatever reason. I don't know if that's adjustable or not? So, what I do when say i am wanting to make something I want to sear or cook at a higher temp and get it going sooner I use the left side for that. If I am making something like pancakes and need the entire surface then I turn the right side on low first and wait about 8 to 10 minutes and then I put the left side on low. They both come up to similiar temps roughly around the same time that way for me anyway. I am not bothered by these quirks as I have cooked various meals on it and it didn't take much time at all to figure it out. You are much more experienced than me on griddles so you will have this down in no time boss. I think this is what you advise us about "learning your griddle"? :)) My wife thinks my smash burgers, breakfast stuff and cheese steak sandwiches need to be on a short rotation. Haven't tried fried rice yet but will study up on your previous videos. I do hope you will put out more recipes on this type of griddle in the future though. Someone mentioned in the comments that there are not a lot of SS griddle recipes out there and that is true and criminal imho. Thanks again for making all of us better griddlers and heros in our families. Both you and your wife are lovely folks.

Hey @FlatTopKing how about a video on a stainless griddle insert for a Weber Genesis. I found one on Amazon and really thinking about it. Could be a good pro/con video vs. rolled steel. Thanks and Kudos!!!
How do you clean the grease trap when you’re done ? 🤗
It literally just pulls off...clean whole trap
Can You use Non- Stick Spray on the grill
Not saying no...but when doing research there is a additive to help the oil come out that supposedly makes griddle sticky when heated high...
For the price point this griddle is going for, you can get a commercial SS flat-top off of marketplace or from a restaurant supply joint that deals in used commercial equipment that won't suffer from hot spots.
100 would...Yes...
Worked with stainless flat top in restaurants. I own a backyard pro stainless 4ft. It’s great but heats up slow
Very cool! Thats what I thought as well...
At my dad's Dairy Queen, we preheated our old Lincoln with the thick stainless slab for a minimum of 30 minutes. It's a limitation worth ignoring in my opinion!
Makes me wish my jaw could unhinge😂
That looks amazing.
Stainless steel, hummm I think I will look into that.
Looks delicious. Nicely done 👑
The bicep comment: so subtle...
Right for power. Left for finesse.
this weekend i use the shake that on my boneless skinless chicken thighs and hamburgers and now i put it on my stir fry i think i'm going to put on everything i make.
Howdy Navy, Quick request for you as we are starting to get a lot of this around here.... what's your way to cook up Delicata Squash?
Wish you would have panned into where the burners are so wd could see the setup, especially since its only two burners. Is it just one tube on each side or do they bend and go back towards the front.
u shaped...sorry about that..all that is available on there website as well
The Burgers Look Amazing !!
I also cooked on stainless steel griddles for about 3 years. I was never too fond of the cleaning process.
What about a more commercial griddle that are not super expensive like the commercial performance group griddles that are only about a grand?
Pretty narrow heat zones - heat distribution not the best - considering the underside of the griddle plate - SS can be great when you learn how to care for it. - Cheers!
LOL - Right bicep reference... 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Any idea what the countertop to cooking surface measurement is? I have searched the web, with no luck.
Boss, you are so right about toasting bread with mayonnaise. It flat-out sucks!! Butter or nothing for me.
I've always been curious about stainless steel griddles. Le Griddle is pretty pricey! Have you considered reviewing the stainless steel griddle tops found on Amazon?
I have seen a few...but I have not....interesting thoughts though...
been wondering how long it would take you to get a stainless griddle having been a military cook, I was in the Army, I know what you guys use
The rail on the front is the grease trap...its removable to clan...mine only has 3 sides
Thanks for sharing, will check them out.
@@jamesstein5087 good stuff!
Will you post information on the contact thermometer as an alternative to IR?
Once we figure something out...I definitely will
I told FTK that I got the Winco 2 inch griddle surface thermometer. It comes with a pot clip but that doesn't matter. Not sure which one he will get but just letting u know I got this one from Amazon. Hope this helps.
Thermoworks Pro-Surface Thermapen
What is the size?
If you think the 30" is heavy... try the 41"!!! 😮😮😮
True...very true...i can imagine
I wish you would have shown a bread test comparison with a good cast iron griddle; although I agree we all have to learn how to best use our grills this seems to be a fail for me. Also scraping constantly a cooking stainless steel surface is just a strange choice that will look awful very quickly. There are some good reasons why high end griddles are not made of stainless steel.
???? All commercial griddles are stainless...all high end griddles are literally stainless...
I've scraped mine a lot over 5 months time now and it looks fine. 304 stainless. It's tuff stuff.
@@TheFlatTopKing Commercial griddles cooking surfaces are often made polished steel while everything other parts including drip trays are indeed made of stainless steel.
What is the size?hard to clean
holy cow. you werent kidding about how pricey those are lol! i mean i get it not being cheap because its stainless but those prices caught me off guard
My wife said I have too many grills/griddles. I just refer to your videos.
hahahah Safe zone...
Very interesting. Do they have a electric version? I'm currently looking at a griddle from Vevor that is electric. I'm building a new complete kitchen this fall/winter and ii want to use my griddle even wheen the weather is terrible. Have a great day 🌤
I believe they do.
They do have an electric model in this size but you will need 2 20 amp dedicated outlets to run it.
I was asking is there a stainless grill for around 1000 to 1500 ? that you would recommend please?
Where do I buy that one you demonstrated for $1999 please, I’m a 77 year old retired and tired recon Marine Major 64/84
The Navy had the best food when I served we always looked forward to eating on the ships
That's a serious burger. Still laughing about the right bicep
If Traeger made a stainless grill top I would be all over that like crazy... The only thing I hate about having a griddle is the cast iron, because I can never keep it seasoned well enough.
Hallo, Koenig. Mayo schmeckt auf mein Fuss! Strammermax, bitte.
use bacon ham pork as tomato plant fertilizer
Now I have griddle envy 😂
ahhahaha
Yikes, the optional grill lid costs as much as my blackstone complete. 🤣🤣
Saw that too, probably could have a fabricator do it for cheaper.
