  • The Indian Languages Programme launched a bi-annual refereed journal, Pratiman: Samay, Samaj, Sanskriti on 28 February 2013, published in collaboration with Vani Prakashan. The journal to be published twice a year in Hindi fills up a long-felt void for students and researchers looking for space to publish their work in Hindi. The editors have decided to carry a minimal percentage of translations from English while encouraging more inflows from other Indian languages. The journal has also constituted a substantial advisory board of well-known social scientists to solicit guidance and contributions. Noted Urdu and Persian scholar, novelist and critic, Shamsur Rahman Faruqi launched the journal and also gave the inaugural lecture of the Pratiman Vyakhyan Mala. The theme of this well-attended and widely appreciated lecture was 'Urdu Adabi Rivayat ki Sachhi Triveni' (Urdu Literature: A Confluence of Three Literary Cultures).
The launch of the journal was pre-figured by a day-long round table on 'Social thought in Indian languages' for which invited speakers included Tridip Suhrud (Gujarati), Suhas Palshikar (Marathi), Shahid Amin (Urdu), Radhavallabh Tripathi (Sanskrit), Madhavi Sardesai (Konkani), Moinak Biswas (Bangla), Ratnakar Tripathy (Bhojpuri), Ashok Vajpeyi, Harish Trivedi and Sudhir Chandra (Hindi).
