You need to upload more often. I find it very interesting to hear how you deal with conditions in northern Scotland. If you can grow it up there, then Bristol should be fine. The explanations are very interesting too.

Yes you should be able to grow lots of hardy tropical plants in Bristol as your climate is much warmer than mine. I'm hoping to increase my upload frequency a little this year, last year I was very busy with a few other things.

I have been following your channel for a while now as i love tropical gardening. In a strange life twist, im possibly relocating to aberdeen in next few months. I currently live in berkshire. So it will be a pretty major move weather wise. I know you have some beautiful plants, but i do love my tropical plants. I love that you have ensete and gingers etc. would you say there are plants you cant really grow up there, that we have down here?

I used to live in Insch so I know Aberdeen well, Aberdeen doesn't get the extreme cold like the highlands does as its on the coast, but the summer temperatures tend to be very cool and often its the cool summer which are an issue. If you can get a good micro climate with a sunny spot protected from winds you can grow most topicals, they just grow slower than down south and the growing season is short from June to September as frosts can still happen in June. Plants that wont do well are Echiums, most cannas, Brugmansia, Gingers are a little tricky and won't flower unless you start them in the greenhouse or house in spring, Only green cordylines are hardy and then only within a few miles of the coast. On a plus side if you like Rhododendrons, Pieris or Meconopsis they do very well up here, also Bamboo does surprisingly well although doesn't get quiet as tall.

Thank you for the detailed information about the temperature drop in your area.
I live in N.E. Ohio, USA.
This is my first time growing the Ensete Maurellii.
There is frost/freeze warning tonight. I wasn't sure if I should cover the Ensete Maurellii with a floating row cover or frost cloth or let it get frosted so it can start to go dormant, then I can dig it out this week & let it drain & dry out for winter storage.
Tonight's low forcast is 32°, but the next 5 days will be highs near 70° lows in the 50's.
It'll be a good time to dig out, & winterize all my Elephant Ears, Cannas & Dahlias too!
I'm growing 2 Musa Cavendish Banana plants too, I suppose I would do the same process for these plants too?
    Lmk,thx

    Hello mate
Would you like to grow cold resistant avocados in your area?
I grow a variety of Mexican avocados that are very resistant to cold, even -8 degrees, I grow them in the north of Spain and I have fresh seeds
