The price of oxtails right now is super high everywhere. I’m in Philly and I refuse to pay the $30 my fav Jamaican restaurant is charging. They’re filling up those platters with the sides and you’re getting a lil bit of meat. I just got some from the market to prepare myself and I paid $62 for 4 lbs. 🤷🏽♀️
What’s the deal with ox tails? My husband is Haitian and he likes them but when I see his plate, they’re so scrawny looking, like no meat. So is it supposed to just be like that, if so, what’s the fuss about them then? Just curious.
Yeah, oxtail prices are crazy! I’m in NY, my son came home for a visit from college. I don’t normally eat oxtail. I spent $85 on 5 pounds of oxtail and it didn’t even fill a small dutch pot. 😢 I see why the restaurants charge so much.

I'm still paying $19 for a oxtail meal in my city (and they serve you a whole heap of oxtails). The price did go up $8 since 2019 but compared to the other places around me, the portion to price ratio keeps me going back. ❤
Try Fern Gully Jamaican Cafe and Mersi Chef Persian Food in Kennesaw. Also try El Don's in Acworth on Bella Ferry and they also have a El Don's food truck about a mile or so away from the restaurant. If you think it's mid you can call me out I ain't scared.
My Caribbean friend preferred “International Roti” I prefer “Tropical Cuisine.” Though haven’t been there a while and heard things have changed. But “Juici Jerk” on Memorial Dr is a must try!
