    New subscriber here. Love your channel. Here is SoCal USA 9b we’ve had weeks of 100-105 temps. The following dahlias have thrived and survived with the help of 40% shade cloth: Kelvin Floodlight. Arabian Night. Linda’s Baby. Wizard of Oz. Thomas Edison. Cornel. I water sometimes twice a day and fertilize with Morbloom every other week. Dahlias are so addicting. I’ve had great success with dahlias purchased from Swan Island Dahlias in Canby, Oregon.

      Hi, you are going to be so annoyed with me. Thanks for reposting the comment, but it's on the wrong video. It was originally on my Top 10 Heat Loving Dahlias, which is the right video, and after my asking, you reposted it as a solo comment but on this much older video from last fall. Could you bare with me one more time and post it on the Top 10 Heat Loving Dahlias as a solo comment? Thanks in advance for all the inconvenience, I really do appreciate it.

    Your method is really organized. I ended up with a bunch of mystery tubers because some of my labels fell off😂

      Labelling makes sense if a person only has one or two of each type of dahlia, but if you have more, the map method is easier, faster, and simpler, and yes, tags fall off. I did the tag method for the first year of growing dahlias and hated it.

    Dahlias: Next year I will look for "Wizard of Oz".
    Anyone else looking for Dahlias to buy?
    Evelyn is probably always looking for Dahlias. :) 👣

      I started with one of everything, and each year after that I dropped some, planted more of others and added a few new try outs. Wizard of Oz was new to me this year. Love it.

    How far apart do you plant your tubers?

      Hi, it depends on the bed, I try to keep it just over a foot but depending on the bed length, the spacing can very a bit. For example the bed that is 5x13 has four rows of 12 dahlias. The bed that is 5x10 has four rows of 9 dahlias.The bed that is 4x6 has 3 rows of 5 dahlias. I keep them tight so that they can help support each other as I do not individually stake. Usually I lasso the beds, but have not done that yet this year. I probably will when the windy season sets in, for now I like them to develop a bit of wind resistance for stronger stems.

    How many dahlias tubers did you plant this year?

    • @EvelynM-vlogs
      @EvelynM-vlogs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought I had planted 160, but on recounting before I dug them up, it was 146. I think the 160 came from last year's numbers when I had planted in an additional location with the left over sales plants.

      @@EvelynM-vlogs - Na - I only have about 6 dahlias and if they continue to be late bloomers next year - they will find their tubers on the compost bin at the end of the growing season.
