  • @Nikko780

    So the whole nivomat lower loop and bushing can unthread from the shock shaft. Then you cut the mounts off the bottom of the Maxspeeding shock, drill a hole and put a bolt through it. Use the whole lower nivo mount.

    • @ReadyDriverOne
      @ReadyDriverOne  ปีที่แล้ว

      The stock Nivo lower bushing has the mount inside it. The reason for cutting it apart is to retrieve that mount piece. I'm sure it could be pressed out if you wanted to save the Nivo. But that piece then slides into the Max shock so it can bolt to the control arm.
      It is a smaller diameter than the bushing in the Max shock, so that's why I wrapped it in electrical tape temporarily.

    Heads up for people looking to install these on a fwd setup. The fronts bolt in easy the rears are an absolute nightmare and don't fit properly. The rears had 3 major issues. First. the conical bearing that goes in the lower bushing isn't bored out enough to fit the bolt through. I had to take mine to school and bore them out on the lathe to .5625. If you can find a drill bit that size it'll work, but most drill bit kits only go up to .5. Second, the threads on the top are too long and the included spacer isn't long enough. You'll run into an issue trying to fit the rear wood panel in with the reverse facing seats. The panel will hit the adjuster knobs. I had to make my own spacers at 1.1 inches rather than the .5 inch ones they supplied to get them to fit. The third biggest issue is that both the rear springs bent within 3 days of normal driving and there's no way to retain the spring to the chassis. If you jack your car up in the rear, both springs will fall out which leads me to believe there's a possibility of that happening on the road which could be catastrophic. Other than that, the rear is so bouncy that it actually cracked my dash when I went over a speedbump on the way into the junkyard. They refunded me $80 dollars for the bent springs and for the modifications that I had to do. I sent them basically this exact same message, so there's a possibility that they fixed some of the issues but I highly doubt it. Just a fair warning for those looking for a cheap coilover setup. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. Stick with your H&R's, Eibach, or Ipd springs and save for some BC's. You'll be a lot happier in the long run if you don't buy these. The fronts are also making a loud clunk when turning, probably should've drowned them in grease before installing.

    • @ZacharyTelesca
      @ZacharyTelesca 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhh oh. I bought a set of these for my 850 N/A for $40. Rear springs bent so previous owner used A chopped 850R spring. Springs should be no problem. Any idea how the shock itself will bolt in?

    • @SkillCap
      @SkillCap 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZacharyTelesca I needed to use a larger spacer on the top of the strut to get it to clear under the wood base in my wagons trunk. The metal bushings on the bottom of the strut might need to be bored out to fit onto the shaft. I had to bore mine out. They've been on my car for about 6 months with IPD overload springs in the rear and are still holding up just fine. There's no clunking in the front anymore either so I guess the problem fixed itself.

    • @ZacharyTelesca
      @ZacharyTelesca 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkillCap yeah I got rid of the kits rear coils and slapped in some chopped 850R springs. I had to use a spacer at the top also but it was in the box when i bought it. Idk if it came with the kit but when i bought the set it came with the right bottom bushings also. It all bolted in very nice. Rides like a bag of shit but it turns like its on rails 😂

      It's better to actually shave the lip off the fender than to pull them on these cars. Use a flap disk with an angle grinder and you can fit a much wider wheel while still maintaining the stock look. Very hard to tell that anythings been done to the fender unless you run your finger along the inside, which will be nice and smooth after hitting it with the flap disk.

      There's quite a bit that needs to be done to fit the rears on a fwd setup. It's supposed to be bolt on but they had a lot of fitment issues. Check out my other comment on this video for the steps I had to go thru to get them to fit. Not likely that you'll be able to drive home with them if you don't do the mods I list.
