Top-notch acting from the actress playing Ava and the actor playing George. I felt bad for both characters.
Yeah. This is easily one of my fav episodes. And the acting has a lot to do with it. And even for an SVU ep, it’s just drenched in tragedy.
The actress is Mili Avital,an Israeli actress. She was in the film Stargate.
Season 2 Olivia: "do you speak English" season 20 Olivia: just speaks whatever language. 😆
Considering how many times that happened to her it makes sense she’d work towards that.

Mariska can speak English, French, Spanish, Italian, & Hungarian fluently. These women in the warehouse were Eastern European, and while Romanian is a romantic language, I don't know how much she could translate.

This is what happens when poverty prevails. People do what they think they have to to survive. Ava only wanted her other sister save and instead lost her twin.

He truly loved his wife and now he has to suffer losing her a second time all while having to explain to their daughter how her mother was dead and "alive" for the last 3 years.

No one said that. But the dude acted like she killed Irena directly. Instead, she tried to live for her sister so her daughter didn't wonder etc happened to her mom. It was something she thought she was doing right. She deserves sympathy too.

@@YeshuaKingMessiah He found out that his wife and the mother of there kid was dead and her sister was acting as her for a period of time. Going through something like that hurts and doesn’t easily go away. The truth can hurt when you hear it and even though she was doing something good, that still won’t help with the pain of learning what happened.
It’s just one of those situations where you understand both sides between Ana and George. Ana’s choices after her sister died and George’s anger. I wish they made up by the end of the episode or had a time skip where Ana is a good auntie to the kid.
That episode was always hard for me. I had trouble suspending disbelief. Identical twins might be hard to tell apart just looking at them. But living with a different one suddenly? Sleeping with a different one suddenly?
Same. In 5th grade we had identical twin transfer students. They tried to swap positions and we could all tell before 3rd hour. Identical twins look alike, mannerisms are different.

no its not harsh. she lied to him, made him think she was his wife. that is just mean. Theres a difference between keeping a secret in order to protect someone and than lying to them, making them believe you are someone else. its worse when its someone they love and care about.

But at the end of the day he ended up getting involved years later due to the fact it was revealed that his wife twin switched places. if she left him alone to grieve his dead wife nothing would of happened

@@rejectedspicegrrrl I understand hurt. When hurt it's okay to just be hurt, no need to be hurtful! We are so defensive it's not a good thing, myself included btw. The problem for me is using that as an excuse for being angry and mean. We hurt each other all the time hopefully mostly without intent. If our go to response is anger that's a whole lot of unnecessary anger. Especially if it's the type of anger people then use to excuse being _deliberately_ hurtful. Asif gaining retribution for unintended hurts (or "between a rock and hard place type decision") is a beneficial thing for society. It's not. It's one of those areas where we make allowances for being weak, defensive, lacking sympathy , etc. as "being human." How about instead we say "we aren't perfect so not attacking you but that _is not_ the direction we want to go. Be better than that and don't expect allowances in this area to continue indefinitely. Maybe that's the issue? People we're using the latitude so much that they never accepted that it was conditional on their changing for the better?

Now that I think about it, one thing that doesn't make sense is that they kept saying that they thought Irina was off with whatever rich man had come along- something George also said. There is no way George wouldn't have known Ava was married if the sisters were that close. How could he possibly believe that she was cheating on her husband if he knew that Ava's husband could have their marriage annulled and Ava would thereafter be deported.
Also, kinda blows my mind how George reacted in the end. He knew the sisters were close and would've done anything to protect each other, because clearly, that is still the case even after Irina's death. Asking her how she could live with herself was callous among other things. Yes he was lied to but, ultimately, didn't he get what he wanted out of this? There is no indication he loved his wife, especially since he was desperate and bought her like cattle. I get being upset about being lied to, I truly do, but I don't buy that he's entirely a good man.

A very difficult clip to watch, especially the ending. The husband was remarkably restrained.
Not remarkable for a man who paid for a wife. He did not even know her well enough to realize she had been replaced. She was a mail order bride not someone he was in love with. I think his is just mad cause he was tricked. If she had told him he would have been fine with an interchangeable wife.

They’d never know who was actually in the casket. Her sister was a wife and mother and didn’t get the decency of a proper funeral. Instead she got a brutal death and a unflattering grave.
@@lemonadelemon1960 unfortunately it was safer that way the twin sister posing as her sister and burying her body so everyone would think she died and no one would’ve came after her brother in law and niece it’s messed up but unfortunately it might’ve been necessary to do so like Ava said Irina never told the killer that it wasn’t her that he was making a mistake so he killed the wrong girl and Ava realized that if she told the truth they would’ve came after her little sister, her, her brother in law, and her niece so she lied to protect

So many people jumping down George's throat for being so angry at Ava with all she went through, and he has been through a lot but that doesnt erase the pain she caused George, yes he bought Irena but he truly loved and cared for her and to find out she's not only dead but also that her twin sister been assuming her identity in their house for years, regardless of her intention and their other sister he's more than entitled to feel his feelings, especially knowing he has to explain to his daughter how her mother has been dead and "alive" for the last three years and that's IF he decides to tell her whole story or wait till she's older
I LOVE Law & Order SVU, but I have to be honest; the level of acting, by the victims, is either way to hammy or just plain and "gray". Still... good episode.
I felt Ava was decent. The husband I felt should have been more emotional.

At the end of the day Ava wanted what Irina had.This is made apparent at the end. She may have loved her sister but they both rolled the dice and one got a loving husband while the other got a sadistic abuser. Say what you want about the husband but he loved Irina and what they were building and was disgusted by Ava. It all came together when he turned his back and she leaned on him crying his name. He shrugged her off like bihh I dont know you😂 you not my wife. He had every right and she did not. She crossed the line.

I don't think there are many men in the comments, who, having known almost nothing except "my wife of 3+ years took money from me and disappeared", and having just learned that it was the wife is dead and this is her twin, wouldn't be overwhelmed and lash out in anger. George learned some painful stuff he can't do anything about, and he's so overwhelmed that he's not even sure he should comfort this woman or reject her completely.
It's a rare man who can set his pain and grief aside for a moment to accept the desperate woman in front of him.
I just watched a Steve Harvey short/yt clip with this white guy, maybe 50ish at the most but he was asking Steve how to figure out a trick or something to tell his wife of 12 years apart from her twin sister when they are both at the house. He said he can't tell them apart so when he walks into a room he doesn't say anything inappropriate or touch or hug his wife since it might be the sister. Steve was dumbstruck how he could have been married that long but still not be able to tell them apart!! I was just wondering did he not at least pay attention to how his wife was dressed, they can't have the exact same haircut, dress identical & be the exact same down to socks shoes, exact same jewelry...?!! I mean, he can't sneak a look at their left hands, just to confirm his wife's wedding ring he probably bought her?? I still can't understand how this could be a problem after 10+ years!! I'd be so frustrated if that were my spouse & he could not tell me apart from my sister after all the time!! Not only that, but I imagine she is dressed for the day while getting the house ready for the barbeque, party, or setting up the table for what ever celebration/ holiday!!! That’s actually not true. Identical twin DNA is not truly identical. It’s extremely close, but there are still subtle, very tiny differences between the siblings. It’s usually close enough that an average DNA test can’t tell the difference, you’d have to almost sequence the genes themselves to see the differences.
