Oh, wonderful. Someone is listening to Los Jaivas! I discovered them when I was living in Chile about 20 years ago. A fascinating band indeed. One of my favourites: Sube a nacer conmigo hermano
I love your continual spotlight on this band, Mark. It’s been one of my favourite discoveries on your channel. The bass tone is a real Rickenbacker vibe. It cuts through in the same way that Lemmy’s does, although the styles are poles apart.
Vivan Los Jaivas
Contenplative, that’s exactly waht Pablo Neruda did when he wrote his poem in Macchu Picchu. It’s magical that Los Jaivas were able to interprete their words into music just looking a picture of the ruins.
Interesting you mention Rush here... that bass is a Rickenbacker, which is what Geddy Lee of Rush was famous for playing early on with Rush, and which has that really distinctive tone for sure. You aren't the first person to mention these two groups in the same sentence. :)
I think the snare of the drums are the flap of the eagle... across the mountains, high in the sky. A lot of the Los Jaivas included animal or elements sounds. Great reaction ❤. Please keep going 😊. Paragon para Iluminarse is beautiful. Hugs from Chile 🇨🇱 😊
jajaja I just suggested that same song! although sometimes im afraid that some people miss on the beauty of their music distracted by the ethnical elements. But i think this guy really gets it!
**begins listening to the song** Yes, I'm going to enjoy this. ^_^ The song is simply mesmerizing, from beginning to end. Truly my jam! (By the way, it feels oddly funny that I'm still commenting in English despite seeing many comments in Spanish, since I myself am a native Spanish speaker. However, I wouldn't be at peace if Mark had to use an online translator to see what I said, as online translators are shit. XD)
Hello friend, I am a long-time follower of the Jaivas. I ask you for your reaction to VIÑA DE MAR FESTIVAL 1983, RUN I'LL CATCH YOU. Some of the most epic songs by these geniuses. a big greeting from Chile 🇨🇱

If you think you already know what "Los Jaivas" are, you are wrong. You have to see this delight of a theme that is "Takirari del puerto". Los Jaivas take control of your body and it is impossible to contain yourself. In the midst of creative madness they recorded this video clip in Antarctica with -24.7 degrees Celsius while playing like children in the eternal snow and ice. It is difficult to believe that the video is also "funny" despite not even seeing their faces, which they should have protected from the extreme cold. "The Jaivas" have the ability to do things that we did not know could be done, and not only did they dare but they also did it in beautiful and extremely creative ways that no one has managed to imitate to this day. Their mastery as composers and performers will be talked about at length on the sad day when they are no longer here. In the meantime we can delight in this jewel that is "Takirari del puerto". th-cam.com/video/FZuaRn8IiVI/w-d-xo.html
Its great to see a bass player reacting to los Jaivas, i think the bass usually is undeestimated in a lot of music composing, but in this group tha bass has its own complex personality and its like it tells its own story. Also, I love to see how the bassist is at 76 yrs old singing, playing, and jumping on stage, holding that heavy Rickenbacker like its nothing! Pleaaaase pleaaaase do more Los Jaivas songs 🙏🙏🙏 maybe "pregon para iluminarse" studio version 🙏🙏🙏
In "Alturas de Machu Picchu" you can find influences from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Tangerine Dream and many other progressive bands from that era, exquisitely shuffled with latin american folcklore rhythms. This conceptual album was inspirated by Neruda's own Alturas de Machu Picchu poems, e.g. the lyrics from the track "Sube a Nacer Conmigo Hermano" describe how the Inca were enslaved by the spaniards conquistadors. It's a very powerful, beautiful and meaningful record for all of us chileans, and we are very proud of Los Jaivas all the way. You are proof that awesome music transcends borders and frontiers. Thanks from an avid Los Jaivas fan for your reaction!
Thank YOU for watching! I absolutely adore this band, and though I may not get all the cultural references in the lyrics and understand on a deeper level what the songs are about, I have to say their music absolutely touches my soul in the best possible way!
@@nelsonfuentes9175 em… I maybe phrased it badly in the video, but I absolutely said that Los Jaivas inspired The Mars Volta. Or at the very least, inspired the bands that then inspired TMV.
Hopefully you'll get to the band Haken, please listen to any one or all of the songs named Veil, Crystallized, Elephants Never Forget, Falling Back to Earth, or Nightingale. 🙂
Dear, Markabusi...I recommend you reac to the song : "come up to be born with me, brother " poem by Pablo Neruda. And then " sons of the earth " of his own authorship.

This Jaivas was Chamanes.
Please react to "Tarka y ocarina" it is an ecleptic journey through different types of music including classical, Andean and metal.

I’d be concerned that TH-cam Translate might struggle with some of Mark’s “colloquialisms”.
