Caetano Veloso is Maria Bethânia's brother, and they became famous in the 60's along many other great artists in a movement called "Tropicália", with many lyrics against dictatorship.
This song is actually not his. In my opinion, his compositions are usually way better than this one. Oração ao Tempo ("Prayer for Time") is one of my favorites.

This song's guitar line is just awesome indeed. The acustic guitar is really popular in Brazil, and much of our music tradition is for it, including samba, bossa and choro. One thing that is not very common outside of Brazil is the 7 strings acustic guitar, really popular in samba music, together with the Cavaco, somewhat like a ukelele, but with steel strings.
