I've been doing interior shots of buildings using the electronic shutter and remote radio release. The center column is a fast way to fine tune the camera height. Vibration is not a consideration.

I just bought this! I wasn’t sure which to go for first, but I have to have one with clips due to joint problems, and when I found this at a lowered price, I just bought it. I had originally gone for a light aluminum tripod from K&F C, but I find it way to flimsy and I don’t feel it is steady enough at all. Not like I’m used to from my Manfrotto 055 Pro. I would’ve just used my old one, but it is way too heavy for me. So I am locking forward to this feeling as steady but light as my old cheap Chinese monopod that I got on eBay 15+ years ago. That is a great, little thing, only I need a new clip for the thinnest piece. I might have a new one, I remember they sent me a full set as there was some problem with them back then. But I’ll have to empty a huge cabinet to search, aaaargh!!😢😅☺️

I've ordered the Vanguard veo2 235cb but due to so many people saying it was really flimsy and not stable I've decided to go for this instead.
For me I need compact lightweight and sturdy. All the other things don't matter to me so this seem like it's going to be amazing. 🙂.

Same here, I want a sturdy and lightweight tripod. I just want it to do it’s job as a tripod and be easy to extend, where clips is a must have for me. That is all. I do not want or need anything else! So I am really looking forward to getting it! Are you happy with yours, you must’ve got it by now… 🤗

Great review, thanks! AP20 is a no nonsense travel tripod, probably even above average in this price range. However, I would have preferred twist locks on a travel tripod, because they are more compact and less prone to break. The telescopic centre column is a obsolete feature too which I don't thing would ever use. The most surprising thing on this tripod is lack of specific features which one would expect from a company such as SmallRig.

It would be great to combine with the accessory horisontal arm from K&F concept1

I intend to buy this tripod as a travel tripod together with the smallrig fluid video head 3457. I like its weight and compactness. Mainly to be used with a spotting scope with weight at about 1.6kg or 2.1kg. I wonder if this will do for my needs. Site where this will be used will be in the outdoors, usually near coastal area or wetlands. Some winds dependeng on the season. When all the legs are fullu extended, can you share the height of the tripod? I don't want to use the center column extended as much as possible. I'll also put on some weight (light backpack or a water bottle) to the bottom part of the center column for added stability.
    Great review btw.

      Thanks!
Maximum height is 62.2 inches perhaps around 54 if the column is not extended. Should do well within your intended use. :)

Hi Nicco! Great content here. I've noticed that you have reviewed the 3 exact tripods that I'm currently considering to purchase. I'm debating wether to go for this SmallRig AP-20 (almost discarded after your review and some online comments), the Manfrotto 190Go! with a ball head or the Benro Tortoise 24C and ball head... Any specific advice besides your great 3 videos? Thanks.

Hey Mariano! Totally depends what you intend to use it on. The Benro Tortoise is my current tripod for hardcore landscapes and seascapes. The 190go is my tripod for shooting architecture, interiors, cityscapes, and shooting in the studio. For lightweight requirements I use the Gitzo Legende.
However for all-around use if you’re gonna have just one tripod, get the 190go or the Benro Rhino.
