the thing is that balanced racers or turn racers are not popular in general because speed and acceleration are the best and most popular classes in CTR.
Its most likely a nod to the fact Spyro was also an advanced character in the GBA version of Crash Nitro Kart. I'm glad they didn't make him balanced, I'm honestly more surprised Hunter is, and not accel.
The orc version of Big Norm reminds me of Zartog from Space Chimps. Plus Garden Gnome Velo definitely makes me think of Gnomeo and Juliet with the prominent use of red and blue.

I have a theory that there will be more GPs from Spyroverse in the future since Spyro Circuit is based only on the first game. That would be a good reason to skip Ripto, otherwise this is quite a disappointment in the choice of characters.

Most of these Legendary skins aren't mostly related to Spyro 1 except Zam which looks exactly like the ones in the Dream Keepers worlds. Big Norm and Small Norm look like Goblins From lord of the Rings, Viking Polar isn't in a Dragon world or outside the Dragon World, Komodo Joe is almost, but does not Match with the wizards in the Magic Crafters world, Real Velo I don't Know cause it looks like it is found as a decoration in one of Gnasty's Loot room. Evil Coco and Crunch are from MoM not from Spyro of course.
