ENjoyed the review. As a long term comforter user one of the most important characteristics that I look for is the overall design of the comforter. It needs to have smaller baffled channels to keep the down or filler from moving around a lot and ending up at the bottom of the comforter and leaving no filler towards the top of the bed.

All sound and look awesome. It is hard to pick just one. Buffy's Breeze Comforter sounds perfect for summer, Showe for winter, and I also like Linenspa comforter which is reversible and affordable. Broookline's lifetime warranty is very appealing. Since I am not certain about the differences between Duvet and Comforter, I am going to check out your full review for sure. Thank you for the educational and fascinating comparison!

I hate down alternative. Its okay as a pillow top to sleep on, but uncomfortable in a duvet. What I do is I use a silk comforter on bottom, and then on top I use the Puredown Lightweight Breathable Cooling White Down Comforter, Mesh Design comforter. Bedsure microfiber duvet cover. This setup is unbelievable. I don't think anyone else on earth has a comforter as good as this. Lightweight, breathable, etc. I've used bigger down comforters before, in hotels etc. Sometimes it can be too much. My goodness, is the 500 fill power Lightweight comforter they make is the exact perfect amount of puffy and fluff. Not too much, not too little. Both blankets are super light and stack, but the way it traps warmth, yet is also breathable and the way it fluffy, but not overly so. Its a luxurious experience. I couldn't go back to using a down comforter by itself or a silk comforter by itself. The combination is perfectly balanced.

One from ikea for when it's very hot and one from Walmart that is surprisingly good for when it's hot almost cold. All these items were 100 or less. We're we did spend our money was on our bed. The bed and it's frame are where all your money should be spent on. All the other stuff is just preference depending on your body type, temperature profile and sleeping habits.

Portinha pillows are important for ergonomics. You want your spine to be properly aligned. Agree that bed is the most critical part, frame is not, however.
I guess as long as you sleep well and your spine is positioned well, that’s all that matters. Could sleep under a paper towel if those boxes are checked.
