Tom Hardy is a much more famous actor and is more likely to draw someone's attention than Cillian Murphy ( Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders) and Mark Rylance ( Abel in Bridge of Spies). This is the best film I have ever seen in cinema! The sounds are absolutely terrifying and the noise of the aircrafts as they approach actually caused my heart to race and caused a slight panic attack. You're fully immersed and although you know nothing about the characters backgrounds you are fully supporting them the whole time. I was tense for the whole film and didn't move at all I was so fully engaged. It was just... wow.
Michael Rust i LOVED "We were soldiers once" with Mel Gibson and "Hacksaw Ridge"(or how do you spell it? haha(i'm not a native english speaker)) but yeah, "Saving private Ryan" is by far the best war movie there ever was.

I don't usually like war movies but this one is fantastic! It's what moviemaking is about - fine craftmanship, stirring music score, excellent acting and great cinematography mixed with history and emotional heroism. I was totally taken to another place I didn't know much about before and it reminded me of all the wonderful people who went through so many difficult times during the war. This movie is one of the best of the year!
People complaining about Harry Styles being in this movie. Well, first thing's first, I'm no fan of him, not of his musical career at least but hey, I'm a Black Sabbath guy. The french troops are the true heros they held the germans off for 3 or 4 days while the evacuation happened. Also a lot of frenchman escaped during the evacuation and were sent back to france to fight for a lost cause.
The French were not sent back, they were taken back because the French Government in Paris demanded their return!!! If more had refused and stayed in England and served under De Gaulle France might have been better represented with a far larger Free French army.
My great uncle Alex was with the BEF at Dunkirk. You only had to spend ten minutes in his company to get the sense that he was a man who knew he was lucky to be alive.

This looks amazing, finally a contemporary movie on the feat of Dunkirk. Truly inspiring to think of all the merchant vessels and private Brit citizens whom put their lives on the lines to rescue these service men!

Vintage war planes were used in this film. They were borrowed from the Chino Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, CA. When I first started doing volunteer work there, the staff members told me that a film called Dunkirk was going to be released in a year, and that vintage military planes from that museum were used during the filming.

Dunno why everyone's complaining about all the attention Dunkirk's getting from 1D's fans, you should be proud that such a director is going to gain followers because of his great filming. Nolan's great. Hardy's great. The movie looks great. Also, why is everyone calling him (Harry) a bad actor? Is it just because they don't like him? Because as far as I know, the only acting he's done was way back in 2012 on iCarly and that wasn't THAT bad. If you do think its bad, I'm sure he's improved over the past four years:)
As I can see lot of people are hating on Harry's fans just because they are super excited about this. So I wanna tell you all something. I'm directioner and big Harry-girl myself, but that doesn't mean I'm only gonna watch the movie because of him. Sure I'm really fucking proud of him and can't wait to see him there, because I don't think he would be in a CHRISTOPHER NOLAN movie if he couldn't act. Only two seconds of Tom Hardy in the trailer and he is on the cover of it. He was just some actor in Nolan's Inception. Now, it's pleasant to see how popular he has become.
I don't usually like war movies but this one is fantastic! It's what moviemaking is about - fine craftmanship, stirring music score, excellent acting and great cinematography mixed with history and emotional heroism. I was totally taken to another place I didn't know much about before and it reminded me of all the wonderful people who went through so many difficult times during the war. This movie is one of the best of the year!

People complaining about Harry Styles being in this movie. Well, first thing's first, I'm no fan of him, not of his musical career at least but hey, I'm a Black Sabbath guy. But anyway, if people actually shut the hell up and do their research, they'd learn that one of the reasons why Harry Styles took on this role was because he wanted to honour those that gave their lives for this country in WWII. That deserves maximum respect, whether you like him or not. So, saying that, what the hell have you people [complaining] done to honour those of WWII?

The french troops are the true heros they held the germans off for 3 or 4 days while the evacuation happened. Also a lot of frenchman escaped during the evacuation and were sent back to france to fight for a lost cause.
The French were not sent back, they were taken back because the French Government in Paris demanded their return!!! If more had refused and stayed in England and served under De Gaulle France might have been better represented with a far larger Free French army.
My great uncle Alex was with the BEF at Dunkirk. You only had to spend ten minutes in his company to get the sense that he was a man who knew he was lucky to be alive.

Vintage war planes were used in this film. They were borrowed from the Chino Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, CA. When I first started doing volunteer work there, the staff members told me that a film called Dunkirk was going to be released in a year, and that vintage military planes from that museum were used during the filming.
