We had a VAC wide front that my father got as a veteran returning from the war. It was the first and only new piece of equipment they had for years. I started when I was 8 years going round and round pulling a 2 bottom CASE plow. It’s still pulling a hay rake to this day.

The Case 500 tractor is my favorite, when I was a kid a neighbor had one used for cutting hay with a Fox forage harvester, no matter how big the windrows were, that 6 cylinder diesel engine just kept belching out black smoke without missing a beat. Thanks for the great video, I love Case tractors.

Grew up on Case. We had or have the following... RC, VAC, SC, DC, LA, 970, 1170 and 1470. My favorite older Case tractor I never owned was a 730. Later model would be the 3294. They just look cool to me.

A close friend of mine bought a running/driving 1070 dirt cheap (less than $1000) at our local fall consignment sale. It smokes under load, but, everything works. He doesn't have room in his shop, so, it's been living with my Allises, in my shop for a couple months. The "girls" have accepted it since it's kinda orange lol! We're getting set to tear into it this weekend.

We had a 311 with oversize rear wheels which allowed to to reach 30MPH without any load and if the road was smooth enough. As a youth enjoyed the few times we cod reach that speed. We also had a SC, 400, and 411.

I remember the Case emblem was an eagle and headlights in the front. I drove a Case 930 and 1030 and even an old Case LA that was a bast to drive with no power steering and an iron steering wheel. The LA always was overheating, and I hated giving up water from my water jug, but there as work to be done. My brother-in-law and his grandfather had nothing but Case tractors-830, 930 and 1030 until they merged with International. Now he has IH Case tractors and combine. He even owned part of an IH Case dealership.

My grandpa had a model S case he bought during the war. It was hauled home with full steel wheels on . The mistake was when it was changed over to 10-26 rear tires , and those were a hard to find tire size in this area. But every summer it was the side delivery rake tractor for putting up grass hay and I was just a kid back in those days . And since it had a magneto it was hand cranked to start always .

Interesting a guy your age would be into so many older Case tractors. My parents farmed in Western Nebraska and we ran mostly Case tractors during the 60's 70's 80's and 90's. I ran a lot of 30, 70, and 90 series tractors. My favorite was the Case 830 case-o-matic. After that probably the 1370 although I wished we had the 4520 John Deere...... Ran the neighbors and loved that tractor. My favorite tractor of all time was the John Deere 4430. First round cab John Deere and an amazing tractor well balanced and was ahead of it's time. Thanks Big D! Very few Case lovers most of the time people love the Green machine..... Always asked my dad why we didn't have John Deere and he thought they were too expensive, but with the re-sale value of John Deere he was wrong..... Used Case tractors bring a fraction of John Deere.
    Thanks for the video!

Drove a VAC loved it They may have been only rated at 19 hp but operated like a 30 hp tractor I think what set CASE apart was the big bore, long stroke low RPM engine that wasn't subjected to that high RPM stresses other tractors endured. However, with the 930D I've heard from owners that they've had head and head gasket problems......Good video but time to move onto Allis Chalmers . From personal experience the D17D D19D 185 and the 190XT were ok but they've had some bad ones as well.

2 comments. First Tenneco did not buy out Case until long after the 500 was out of production. Kern County Land came into the picture around 63, then Tenneco around 69.
2nd, I think the L should be at the top of this list. When it was introduced, it was a complete new design, with elements that stayed in production for 35 years. It was extremely durable, and economical to operate on low cost fuel. It had no rival in competition. The LA was still enjoying great popularity 20 years after the introduction of the L with the same basic design ( plus a road gear, electrical, hydraulics, and individual brakes).

Dad used to rent a 930 diesel. He said it had good pulling power but took an acre to turn around and was an either addict. He bought a gas 190XT which was a good puller too so he stopped renting the 930..... gas was cheap at the time but soon went up. Years later Dad bought a 190XT diesel and my brother has a 190XT diesel and I have a 200 and a 190XT diesel which is in restoration mode and they all will easily kick a 4020 and I think the XT diesels can take any 930 too.
