- It's been just over 20 years since the U.S. was first introduced to the world's most famous wizard and the Harry Potter empire is still growing. You probably know all about the books, films, plays and even a theme park. But now libraries and museums are coming under the spell. Michelle Miller visits a new exhibit at the New York Historical Society that’s all about “the boy who lived.”

J.K Rowling is a very talented, imaginative, creative writer-I just wish that she would admit that she got ideas from watching Bewitched! Many People that have watched Bewitched and read Harry Potter know the two great works have too much in common for it to be the casual Great-Minds-Think -Alike coincidence.
. Samantha, a witch, married Darrin, a mortal(Muggle), but does not tell him that she is a witch until after they were married.
.They have a child. Samantha explains to Darrin, that because she is a witch, but he is mortal, their daughter Tabitha is a half-blood.
. Endora is always appearing and disappearing (Apparating and Disapparating) inside the Steven's house.
.Clara is always coming down the fireplace(traveling by Floo Powder!)
.Moving photos are seen in various episodes.
. In a few episodes, we actually see the magical worlds, a witches' council, a school of magic, and shops that sell potion ingredients, spell books and broomsticks.
.Endora calls Dr. Bombay-Samantha's witch doctor-and he gets very angry at her-because she caught him during his Wizard Chess Tournament, playing chess with live chess pieces!
J.K Rowling won't admit that she watched Bewitched and was inspired by it. I am even certain that, the reason she invented the synonym to mortal, Muggle, rather than using the word Mortal is that she did not want readers to notice.
But nothing gets by me! I noticed anyway, and so did plenty of others! J.K Rowling needs to admit that she was inspired by Bewitched-after all, inspiration is a good thing! Being inspired by something you Love is not something to hide, it is something to share. When one great classic inspires another, that is something to be proud of. Her inspiration is a great honor to Bewitched, it introduces us to the next generation of magic families and children, and it keeps the magical stories coming. All of this something to be very proud of, something to admit with pride!
she definitely modelled Snape after the apocryphal gospels of judah... I would say the gospels cover most of the inspiration up to the death and resurrection. I suppose this is one of the reasons why it felt so familiar and it was so successful all over the world
And here is another fact: J.K Rowling was greatly inspired by the T.V series Bewitched. Bewitched helped her create the magical world of Harry Potter and many elements in the Harry Potter series originated in Bewitched:
Witch and wizard to mortal(Muggle) marriage-and a witch who does not tell her mortal husband that she is a witch until after they are married
Traveling magically by fireplace
Traveling by magically disappearing from one location and re-appearing at another
Half-bloods
Wizard chess
Moving photos
A magical wizarding world hidden from mortals and with secret entrances
Schools of witchcraft
All these elements were originally in Bewitched and JK Rowling needs to admit to where the ideas came from!
