  • Released in 1975, Born To Run was Bruce Springsteen‘s last-ditch attempt at stardom. A hemi powered vehicle to transport the New Jersey musician from Asbury Park to rock and roll immortality, and it worked.

Whenever I hear the opening lines of Thunder Road, I always imagine an early evening in late summer, not morning.

I'd be honored if some classic rock fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of 80s/90s standards on my channel. Covers include Prince, George Michael, Phil Collins, Elton John, GooGoo Dolls, Tom Petty, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael McDonald, and John Mayer. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.

Agreed with Frijolero and Mike. 'E street shuffle' was the better record, mainly because 'Incident on 57th Street' stands alone.

The 1975 tour was pure magic . The 1978 tour was good , but the magic of E Street was the Born to Run tour . A young and hungry band , it was more than a show . He was singing for his life .

Springsteen did not chuck the acetate into the hotel pool because he hated the album -- he hated the mix. Later he realized that had more to do with the cheap stereo he listened to it on than the actual production.

Tbh I’ve always thought the mix of that song in particular sounded weird, it’s such an incredible song but something about the mix sounds kinda tinny. Especially with so much going on

I love this album to bits, and “Thunder Road”, my absolute favorite song, is the first song I sent to my significant other when he said “I love you”- and it was hands-down the greatest moment of my life. My heart was beating out of my chest, and I will never forget that feeling. Whenever I listen to that song, I imagine us taking what’s beneath my car’s dirty hood and letting those 2 lanes take us anywhere.
To say the least, this song means a lot to me.

Dacooldragon aka Danny ... My absolute favorite song too, I remember hearing it for the 1st time and being able to picture the entire story because of the poetic lyrics, and how well the music fit them

Obviously a classic, iconic album. I own, geez, 3 or 4 copies of it. Shooting pool in a little town in Oregon, I glanced over to my left, at a mural someone hat created against a background of white bricks. It was Bruce and the Big Man from Born to Run. Only God knows how long that had been there.

Song after song, album after album Bruce writes catchy tunes that tell stories that have an importance, a gravitas that few other popular musicians even attempt. Wonderful Genius! In a interview He said that more than riches, or fame, He wanted to be great. He is! Dive in deep!
