You know you've seriously f'ed up when the state attorney general holds a press conference and you're the topic.
FR
P omegranate
Is this the first time the State Attorney has got involved in festival fuckups?
Right lol
We (Victims Of Capulet Fest) have been collecting evidence and started sending formal complaints to the AG before the event even went live. By the time of his press conference, he had over 60 official complaints, with more coming in.
5:41 That non-apology sounds like someone translated emo lyrics from another language into English.
When all else fails, play the victim card, right?? 😂😂😂
At this point before attending any festival you gotta do a background check on whether the owner/organizer is a sleazeball and if they've got any experience running a festival before.
oohhhhhh fuck yea!
True that brother!
Just avoid the metal scene entirely unless Judas Priest is playing.
The bands dropped out to play Montague fest.
They bite their thumb at them!
A curse on both houses!
Heheh Heheheh
Ba dum tish
Star-crossed haters
He actually called not paying his bills an unforeseen circumstance lol 😂
There's your problem right there. No Municipal Waste.
What a *waste* of time.
@@liammcnicholas918
No YOU'RE wasting our time
That's because modern Thrash gods Municipal Waste would never lower them self's to play "Metal" core.
The only walls we build are walls of death 🤘
I saw Hatebreed at the Webster once. Awesome show, but anyone who’s been to that venue would tell you that this place is not suitable for a “festival”.
My buddy is a venue owner:
He prefers the small metal shows because the fans clean up their mess. The fans know the music is already hard to book in, and don’t want to ruin it. So they keep it clean. Parking lot, and in the inside of the venue.
His opinion of his experience. Not mine and not yours.
He doesn’t like edm concerts/raves but they make mad cash. Only issue is the literal metric tonnes of garbage the edm people leave. Not to mention left over drugs he needs to watch out for.
He doesn’t even care if people smoke weed inside, he just doesn’t want to be poked by a needle.
lazy owner then. do your job and clean loser.
Metal heads actually give a shit - who couldve guessed that?
I’m an “EDM” fan who happened to wander onto this video, and I can say with certainty you are right. For those of us that were into it before the big wave of dubstep/festivalEDM hit the states (dating myself here), what the scene has turned into now is totally unappealing and shameful. But it rakes in the cash.
Anyway the point of this boomer rant is to say it’s a trade off. If a scene gets big enough to consistently fill large festivals, it’s probably lost some of its purity. Better to have more shows in smaller venues with fans that actually care imo. So be thankful if that’s what’s happening.
I've been to both kinds of festivals and both of them leave trash. I've been to both types of concerts here in Massachusetts inside venues, and it doesn't matter what type of music is playing, there is inevitably some trash on the floor.
The kids munching pills that increase your dopamine and serotonin, are more likely to pick up trash than alcoholics moshing but that's just my opinion
@@blockchainprofessor.x small metal shows, 100 or less people.
The fact that so many festivals crash and burn like this goes to show just how insane it was to pull off stuff like Mayhem and Warped every year. Wish I could've been a teenager in the 2000s.
Yeah you missed out. Those 2 tours alone were non-stop ragers! Lol! My age is showing. The Reinventing The Steel Tour was the best I've attended so far. Morbid Angel opened next was Static-X then Slayer and Pantera closed. Definitely one of the most violent pits I've been in from start to finish. Only 1 other show was more violent. Good times.
The best pit for me was White Zombie and Pantera. 2nd was Korn opening up for Megadeth.
Wild pits in those days
@@conradmcdougall3629
Best pit:
Tattoo the Earth
Slayer, Sepultura and Slipknot.
More like Crapulet Fest.
Hey, dad! :D
Got eem!
The Montagu fest is better
The only good thing about this whole fiasco is that we got to hear the Savior of Metal quote Shakespeare. XD
3:15 “scroll past all the ads and goth models” my life. Finally. Someone’s speaking my life.
I get the impression that not many tickets sold so he was unable to pay his bills
Apparently enough tickets sold for a lot of p***ed off fans to end up stranded an hour away from the surprise new venue.
This is criminal... I hope the DA does their job.
Depends on the size of the bri--campaign donation that he received from the scumbag who organized this ripoff.
CT AG Tong spearheaded the Ticketmaster scandals a few years back. He's a big live music fan, and HATES seeing the people he represents getting ripped off. I have the utmost faith in him 🤘🏻
@@lambofmetallica So good to hear... This wasn't a failure--it was a blatant con and ripoff by yet another garbage "Promoter" who just took all the money.
😂😅😅😂😂😂😂😅
You know you’ve fucked up when your a new season villain in SAVIOR OF METAL
Thanks for all the obscure R&J quotes! Gave me quite a chuckle.
The get rich quick scheme has hit metal concerts. Surprised it took this long honestly.
"scroll past all the ads and goth models" HE KNOWS
"We did everything we could." Thank you, sirs, for everyth.... Wait. Did you pay all of your bills ahead of time? Did you set up a fast, easy way to get a FULL refund? Lies.
Hellfest will never have these kind of problems.
Nor do Graspop, Wacken, Rock Im Park, Bloodstock, Ragnarök et al. I don’t want to make fun of US festivals but I do come across a load of clusterducks on this here platform.
the original Hellfest did.
@@MetalMouse67There is no "scene" in U.S. metal. Just a bunch of ignorant fans and predatory promoters. This crap is why I started going to PHISH shows and ignoring metal/punk.
@@xaxxxpx What do you mean with original?
@xaxxxpx Dude, are you really comparing Fury Fest 2002 that became the second biggest Metal festival in the world ? I've been to every single Fury Fest edition + Hellfest 2006 until 2014 , nothing can compare to the cluster fuck of amateurism that happens in the US, trust me, let alone the fact that in the early 2000s, building up a Metal festival from absolutely nothing in a small village in France with your OWN money was just impossible to imagine, comparing Ben - a diehard Metalhead, a serious promoter and a professional organizer with today's amateurs that we see on this TH-cam channel is definitely a statement of an ignorant, and let's be honest, other than 70000 tons of Metal which is a very cool and a unique concept, the US never had great Metal festivals at all with epic lineups of various music styles with a great mix of massive headliners and underground stuff from across the world, the real shit have always been here at Wacken, Graspop, MetalCamp, and so many other smaller festivals that you probably have never heard of: Karmøygeddon, Tuska, Midgardsblot, Beyond The Gates, Copenhell, etc.
Well, you have "Capulet" on title, but don't want tragedy 😂
Nice video
I predict Estevan Vega is a fake name and he’s probably got a fake ID to hopefully not get legal repercussions from doing blatant fraud but idk this is all so screwy I feel bad for the fans, bands and the race track and the other venue.
It’s not. I’m from CT and he’s organized a few small regular shows for years. Big scumbag.
Impossible, the minute he organized a festival and showed his face publicly, playing with the law by using a fake ID would be an extremely stupid thing to do and a very quick ticket to jail
That attorney general is intense. I dig him. Rock on metal heads.
This why I use PayPal.... you will always get your money back if someone does our dirty 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"More on him later" seemed like "Moron him later." Good one.
So over these completely greedy festivals
I’d rather go to small shows with only a handful of bands playing. Last show I went to only had 4 bands playing. I only saw 2 bands. It was still worth it. Seeing Phil Tougas in person is always worth it.
Dude. The Shakespeare of it all. (Chefs kiss)...nice references and quotes
I always thought that saying was pretentious and gay.
The dude better have a good lawyer because he is going to get nailed.
I’d be shocked if he could afford one 😬
For anyone who doesn't get the reference, the Capulets are one of the families in "Romeo & Juliet".
at least they didnt get stranded on an island or left alone in a a building with a ballpit
Seems like the golden era of great festivals are long gone. Just no brain money grabbers thinking they can get rich dabbling in the grown up realm of festival organisation.
Then run to facey space to "apologize" for the F-up. All behind a computer screen.
If you're putting on a festival and relying on advance ticket sales to pay your operating expense deposits, you're not a promoter, just a sleazy used car salesman looking to screw people out of money.
These morons don’t even know what the word “logistics” means.
"The blonde-haired, four-eyed, neckbeard money eater here..."
😂
Sounds like the purple people eater song. 😂
Dude, as an English Major I was eating up all the damn Shakespeare references! Well Done!
I am wondering how all of this actually happened. The fact he could downgrade to such a little venue probably means that he only sold like 1000 tickets instead of the expected 13000? This obviously would lead to a huge lack of funding. But I don't understand how such a big miscalculation in regards to ticket sales was possible when this festival already took place in multiple years before 2024.
Mexican here, you should check the Hell & Heaven fests here in Mexico. You gonna love it…
Oh, I've heard many many stories about that one 🙃
@@wyattsmetal including how attendees burned instruments and how they choose a venue where you could climb a bridge and have a better angle of the main stage than attendees? Lol
" I would feel bad for you if I felt bad for you".... NAILED IT...👍
Was at a collapsed sci-fi convention one time and the organizers took the exact same “no one see the sacrifice stance”. Turns out they hadn’t paid the deposit for the hotel where the guests were supposed to be staying at hence the block was canceled. The whole thing collapsed from there when actor guests starting backing out.
5:13 "not before the Capulet Festival organizer, ~moron~ him later..." :p
babe wake up the savior of metal uploaded
Babe, wake up. Somebody posted that overused thing again.
What is up with these amateur metal promotors! Some kid in a basement thinks it's "rad" to hold a "metal festival"?
His Mom was out of town & he was tired of his stepdad kicking his ass everyday
Maybe I'm just getting old but im thinking im done with festivals. Seen most of the bands I want to, and seems like there are a lot of issues now
Dont know a single band there, guess im safe from shaddy festivals.
😂😂 hilarious. The Romeo and Juliet references were funny as
"Mayhem canceled" (Look up Frostbite Metalfest, it's a f**king meme in Finland)
1300 people seems like an absurdly high capacity for the Webster.
I like this AG! This seems like a “fake it til you make it” attempt at success despite no working capital
was waiting for this video
Same
When's Montague Fest?
Aug 30th, RPM Fest in Montague MA!
damn. Webster theater is a hell of a place to see a show too.
If you’re an American band that’s traveling internationally, make sure your promoter sends you your return ticket before you leave the US.
It's actually on the contracts for any band that travels nationally or internationally
This might blow over, people will tend to forget over time, and no charges will stick. Meanwhile "promoters" have learned there's money in Metal concert fraud, so this won't be the last.
As a resident of CT, I'll tell you the reason why our asshat AG is pursuing this. It gives our limited Tourism industry a huge black eye and makes the State look bad. And that's the real bottom line. He would not give a crap otherwise.
gotta say, i am so happy for the fact that youre content countinues to become better and better. love youre content, keep doing this shit man
I very much appreciate that thank you!
Aleph is manji
Maybe Estevan Vega saw Wayne's World 2 one too many times and thought, "I could do that. "
That lineup was kinda weak for a 3-day festival. I'm guessing they couldn't sell anywhere close to 13,000 tickets without any big names. The weird thing about Blue Ridge was that it sold out and they didn't feed the staff or rent a few fork lifts. I'm still holding my breath for a refund.
They had some big names! Not like Metallica or something but some decent headliners
These "organizers" are basically begging the government "please! We want more regulations!!".
I love your Shakespeare jokes!
Another example of a young would-be promoter who over promised and under delivered, and who doesn’t understand the basics of contracts, deposits, logistics, insurance, etc. and thought he could “figure his way out” and “just roll” with whatever would come up. I’ve been involved as a tech with smaller regional bands in the Northeast and see this shit all the time.
I really appreciate the Shakespeare references… not enough of them in the other Capulet fest videos going around. I feel like it went over some folks heads. You nailed it tho
Your comedic timing is fantastic, thanks for another great video and calling out some bullshit!!!
LOVE THAT ATTORNEY GENERAL!
This is what happens when someone is flying by the seat of their pants and doesn't have the $$ to back any of it up and is praying that the pay-as-you-go model will work out - it usually doesn't. I'm sure that the bands dropped out when their contracts - the ones that said PAID IN ADVANCE were not being honored.
The statement released by the producer was a lot of words just to say, “We didn’t pay.”
CT resident here. The moment I saw "The Webster" I went "Oooooooooffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff this 'gon be a shitshow".
My dyslexia made me read catapult fest.
Even once the CT AG is done seizing all of Vega's assets and maybe locking him up for fraud, Vega is never going to be able to show himself at another metal show again without getting his ass beat haha.
4:23 I was about to say, sounds like the promoter didn't pay the venue. Never paid the race track so they bailed. Venue took a risk
Small club promoters trying to sell a festival. They don't think about: Parking, Security, Waste, Food & Drink, Emergency Plans. They are running these events like a Kickstarter.
Moving from a 13,000 venue to a 1,300 is an improvement as far as gigs go.
Shutting it down is not cool.
Dangerous levels of confidence. When someone dreams beyond their actual ability and it negatively affects everyone around them.
ope, people need to stop running festivals for money, you need to run it for the love of music
Haha Skillet so desperate for a crowd they stayed on the bill 😂
He doesn't look like an "Estevan". He looks more like a "Derrick", or, a "Keith".
He looks like a Barney! 😂
Omg! I brought tickets for my bf and I, in January 2024, to go see yellow man perform in August 16th of 2024, Webster got the dates wrong and now they are saying yellowman is performing August 17th! I’ve been emailing and calling and they ghosted me, and then something told me to go look at the digital tickets thru the link they sent me back in January and they had the nerve to change my tickets to the 17th!! Thankfully I screenshotted my tickets before I contacted them about the issue and it has the original date!
My dyslexia read the thumbnail as catapult fest, and thought someone got launched to oblivion
"WHEW!"
I thought I was the only one who saw the same title name!
Savior of metal is here.
Bigot King appears
I thought at first that it was Catapult Fest - I'd go to that
i didnt end up going this year, but i went to capulet fest 2023 which was held at thompson speedway on saturday where memphis may fire headlined. i saw a bunch of other bands perform that day as well. it was my first festival experience but i had a good time and nothing seemingly went wrong that day or weekend at all. maybe im just oblivious to things that did go wrong last year since i didnt have much of a frame of reference, but it sucks to see it spiral into this after i had a good time at the festival last year.
thought it said "catapult fest" and i was deeply concerned
So I’m in CT, thought about going to this and so happy I didn’t. The speedway and the Webster have about a 13k seat difference. This promoter and organizer is such a joke
20 bucks says you won't find dude in Connecticut. Dudes probably hid somewhere. Hard to enjoy the money when you have to hide. Dude looks like they need to check his hard drive for chicken photography if you catch my drift.
People have already doxxed him. Well, he technically did it himself, as he used his home address as his business address. The same place his wife and children live. People have also found his place of work and are spreading that around.
I feel bad for his innocent family and coworkers getting wrapped up in all this for no reason.
I bet he’s schmoozing with Bo in Zanzibar or whatever
@@lambofmetallicaI dont care about him, and his wife married him so she has a certain degree of responsibility. But it sucks that his kids will be dragged through all of this.
...which we of course can blame on him. But it will still suck for them.
Excellent, entertaining breakdown. Would love to see you at ROCKNPOD in Nashville next year.
This is What Happen : Capulet Want to PAY these Bands AFTER the SHOW but NOT B4 ...
Well YOU KNOW what that Means When they THAT ? ..Guess WHAT? NO MONEY ....NO PLAY !
Two houses- alike indignity.
Ja rule in charge of this one too?😂
These kind of guys' names and faces should be made as known as possible so bans, venues and fans know to steer clear.
"GOODBYE!"
The Slings and Arrows of Outraaageous Scamfortune!
i have never gone to a metal fest and probably never will but if i do choose one i'd probably take my european ass over to germany's wacken if anything or bloodstock!
Definitely stick with well established festivals.
aah! The webster. Great venue. I have a bootleg of a Project Object set from there. (PO are a Frank Zappa tribute, for the uninitiated.
Gave to the GFM. Thanks for the content, good luck on tour
And they wonder why we're such an angry bunch!
so the race track owner demanded his rent before letting ANYONE on the property is why they moved an hour away? until that owner didn't get his rent either?
Metal is overall a very small niche with very few true fans. It will always fail. Mostly because metalheads are simply not all the bright.
Where are the Montagues?
Another one bites the dust.
I know I'll be in the vast minority here, but this is why I like EDM festivals like EDC and Nocturnal Wonderland. They hardly ever fail like this. There are a couple of examples, of course. But I can always feel pretty confident that I'll have a great time. I will say, however, that your videos are really making me think that I should give metal festivals another try. But only ones that you endorse. You know your stuff.
What an a**. Hope the attorney general goes after that guy.
Just waiting on a blue ridge refund... That will never come. f these promoters
