It still blows my mind how an accident led to a cancer diagnosis. Very glad it worked out for the best, Nick seems like one of the nicest people out there
I met Nick at WSM on Thursday. He was hanging out in the fan area for a super long time taking pictures and chatting with anyone that stopped by to say hi. Had no idea Nick had this issue to go through. You're the best Nick, I hope everything is going well for you
What i love the most abt Nick is that hes not afraid to show his soft side. Like he doesnt turn into a blubbering mess but hes no ashamed to get choked up over things either
Seeing Nick being a big softie always makes me feel more comfortable in my own skin. The strength these guys have is not just in the gym and it's inspiring.
Yeah well bulking up to 500 pounds on copious amount of food, an ungodly amount of roids plus the brutal training every single day is more of a mind thing than a body thing. Who would've thought?
@@TheBcoolGuy Nothing wrong with a guy showing emotion, makes Nick that much more human and down to earth. I'd rather know a guy like Nick than a guy who is like a stone and you have no clue what's going on in their head.
An accident in the gym saved his life! I liked his attitude of you either fall apart or stay positive and look at all of it as being a small moment in time to have the rest of your life back to normal.
My dad died of lung cancer 2yrs and 2 days ago, absolutely crushed me. Sure am glad the legendary Mr. Nick is gonna be good to go 💪💪 also I'm super stoked to see you training for arm wrestling.. maybe hire Devon and or Ongarbaev and lawwwwd hammercy you'll be unstoppable 💪🏆🇺🇸🦅
My sister also discovered cancer by accident, that wasn't even a consideration before tests were done. Quite a battle, but it's been gone for years now, no signs of it coming back. So happy that Nick beat it too, through the most crazy set of circumstances. Too strong to be beaten by such a stupid disease.
41:45 that is fucking great quote "Being the best you" and "I was the best Strongman i Could be" Oh man! that needs to be on a shirt. And nick also saying i made it really far and I was never as good as you just shows what a Humble Legend and respectful Strongman he is. Nick BEST for a reason👍💪😤
Love these two real men, so motivating for me to get out in my garage and with what little equipment I have I still do the best I can at my age. Thank you Brian and Nick for helping to motivate this old man into getting back into weight lifting! Much gratitude!
That air pain hurts so bad. I had a Petersen's space hernia in December and the pain from air in ur body hurts so bad. I had air in my shoulders. I honestly thought they pulled my shoulder out I couldn’t move my shoulder at all. I started walking and the pain went away
My brother and his wife met Nick yesterday at a shooting range in Vegas, they shot all sorts, pistols, smgs, .50 cal (That thing is awesome!) and my bro said Nick was the nicest guy. They had an awesome time and said to say thanks again for the cool experience. He had no idea until he called me on the night and i let him know who you were. Stay strong brother, big fan 💪🏻
Nick, I’m glad you’re doing better. This was a great conversation and there was some really good things said on this podcast! Nick you are a smart guy and both of you are great competitors and human beings. I’m glad you have a podcast Brian. Keep it going even after you retire. 😊💪
So glad Nick back to himself. He almost got me on that one part to dammit lol. I would love a podcast or story of Brian’s life if he ever wanted to share that. Amazing podcast as usual.
Just listen to Brian always talking positive about other people. Brian is always putting people above himself. Brian almost lost his leg and has no once interrupted to explain his story but yet trying to just let nick know he means the world to life. Love some brian Shaw!! Glad nick is ok
Found out last year I had a tumor in my pancreas metastatic to my liver. Managed to stay in the gym during chemo, though at a reduced rate. Had an extensive surgery that took part of my pancreas, gallbladder, a lot of the plumbing, and part of my liver. They then reattached everything. In the end lost 40lbs, and trying to get back into it at gym. Will say it put a lot into perspective and definitely brought me closer to God.
I like how they said there’s winning at competitions and there’s wins in life You may not win WSM but you didn’t quit and that’s what matters I’m not a strongman (yet) but I appreciate this philosophy Looking back I’ve had moments where I didn’t win the competition but I won at life and that makes it better
I had renal cancer at 30 I had the whole kidney removed it has completely broken me and still effects me today even tho I have been cleared from remission 7 years on , god bless anyone dealing with this terrible disease ✌🏻❤
Ffs Nick, you got me tearing up out here! What a brilliant watch and interesting listen, thabk god you’re ok and on the mend. As always thanks for sharing & Brian is the 🐐
Brian love the podcasts...I have a question for ya....I am about 275 lbs and I sit in a similar chair...Can you tell me where you purchased it ..I wear out a chair yearly...
I can't even imagine the shock of coming in for what is just a physical injury, and having the doctor walk in and say "Well... You have cancer." Most people that go in have at least considered the fact that they could have it before even going to see a doctor. Just having it dropped suddenly on you out of nowhere would be like opening a door, expecting a staircase to be behind it, but all there is, is a hole in the ground for you to fall straight in.
Two of the nicest guys! I’ve broken my back twice and just eat pain pills. I would like to work out but I’m afraid I’ll hurt myself. I went from walking over 5 miles a day to just sitting around in pain. I’m just getting worse. At 65 I’m not sure if I’m to old to work out.
Glad you're going to be okay Nick. I'm glad the hospital radiologist spoke up when they saw something unrelated in your scan. You'll have to send the radiologist a few Tomahawk steaks and some good beer. Keep up the good fight brother. You are an inspiration. Love both of you cats.
So to be a good friend, and being roughly 430 pounds, Brian should jump on Nick's chest every couple of years just to make sure he goes to the doctor and gets checked out.
Nick describes the scope of the kidney through the urinary tract. been there, done it while awake. no joke it is like pee'ing razor blades after. not fun.
I hope you’re doing amazing Nick. You’re such a gladiator, or should I say Viking? Bryan, perhaps if your wife joined you, she could pacify the mood when things get a little intense. Especially as your channel grows
Do you know why some people don't share moat things with close friends even after 10-20 yrs? It's because some of the events that they have been through are VERY PERSONAL to them, as it raises a sense of insecurity and being able to say to others "hey, I don't feel sharing this life changing or life-altering event because it's going to make me feel like I'm not accepted and vulnerable to hate and discrimination it might put me through cause people might look at me a certain way or say certain things that offend me or might make me relive that personal event or life-changing time. In this society, we as like-minded people will always live day after day experiencing certain things and believing them as they are told but you'll never know what someone went through 5, 10, 15 yrs ago that is so personal to them that even asking them might make them feel a sense of insecurity and having you metaphorically live in their shoes and what it would feel like for you who has never been through anything like the person sitting next to you, live that experience as they did years ago. I hope what I said is on par with what is being talked ab on this episode. I'm a social worker and always will look for questions like this one to answer from Mt heart. Thx and huge fan of both Brian, nick, Eddie, and oberst. Thanks guys!!.
