What if you aren't near your second waypoint? what if you wanna time lapse a trip you are making across town? Or from points that are miles and miles away from each other?
Use the Time-lapse setting (not the motion time-lapse)

I tried but sad to say, no, it can't be done. I wish Zhiyun upgrades the app.
I'm looking to do stop frame animation, like a claymation with this set up....is this possible to do with this device? I've purchased it, and shot a music video on it already which turned out great, but wanting to do a stop frame animation. Possible?
For stop-frame animation, I would prefer to use a regular tripod without the gimbal. Coz with every frame shot we need the camera to be still.
Hello and thank you for this great tutorial. I must admit that these shots are not satisfactory. There's an apparent shaking or wobbling during the videos. Is it possible to avoid this?
Hello. Watched all your other tutorials about the Smooth 4 and liked it, so I bought one :-) One question: I tried the mo-timelapse on feature iOS, but I can't rotate the gimbal left / right as shown. The Smooth always pushes back. Then I tried my Android, it worked only once, then the Gimbal also starts pushing back. Any ideas?
Have you switched to Lock mode from PF mode?
@@videolane Yes, tried both. It looks like that it only works the first time after powering up the gimbal. After I did a mo-timelapse, the gimbal no longer alows me to move the head left and right. Wierd. Thanks for your support.
@@Heiko_Kanzler I have the same problem. Only solution is to exit the app, power off the gimbal and start over again. (Android Samsung A8)

Cool tutorial but how do you use this Gimbal if you need to shoot a timelapse as you're drawing an image?
Then you don't need a gimbal. Just use a tripod and set your phone to timelapse.
After you add the 2 waypoints, I notice you have the options PAN Lock and AF Lock. That's very usefull to me, but my version of the app doesn't have that. I have only the option AF < 0.0 > and WT < 1.0 > ( I can set those but don't know what they do). I've updated the app 2 days ago. What version of ZY Play do you use?
Is there a way to stop time lapses during shooting? Let’s say that you set it up for 10 mins but done with recording at 6 mins. Anyway to stop it?
Just press the red record button on the Smooth 4 and it will stop the recording.

I have a problem: I don't have the option of timelapse in the menu of the app, I use a Huawey P20, I treid to find it in an Iphone 8 and a Samsung, but I can't get this option, near to vertigo is rapid cam, not as I see in this video. Can you help me?
Do you have "Rapid Cam" option on your phone? "Rapid Cam" is timelapse.

i tried everyway i can find online, but the timelapse always moves in the opposite direction of where i set it to go, i can set it to go from top left to bottom right, and it will just go left, all the time.

My motion time lapse videos are recording endless . I set de duration to 30 minutes but the record not ends when it achieves the B point. What happening wrong?

It works on my Samsung Galaxy S10 but I'm not sure if it works for all Androids.

Good and bad. There is no perfect gimbal in the market. Depends on what you want to do.

Hi, I hope you can help me with a question I've got. I am looking to get a gimbal to shoot exactly the kind of timelapses you show here. However, I want to shoot the actual photos using the phone's native photo app (there is a specific feature in there that I need to use). Is it possible to programme the motion and then change so that you're shooting with the inbuilt camera app? Alternatively, would it be possible to have the phone that is taking the photos set up in the gimbal, in the phone's camera app and then use a seperate phone that is not attached to the gimbal as a kind of remote control - using it to set the start and end points like that? I hope the question makes sense, I would really appreciate any help you can give me!
The Zhiyun Smooth 4 cannot do that. I have done that on the Feiyu Vimble 2 though.

I didn't try it but I read that it is not very compatible.
Gimbals are not made for motion time lapse unless everything is moving inside the shot in a madness clip. The minimum angle of rotation is not small enough to get a soft transition like in costly pro gear (tens or hundreds of a degree), that is why it is jerky and can not be repaired in any way. Manufacturers know it but still use it as a tool to sell because most buyers do not understand, do not complain, are amateurs or use the gimbal only for what it is intended to do but...internet accepts anything. Everyday a deers goes out, whoever hunts it, owns it.
What size video does it record?can it record 4k?
It can record whatever you phone can record.
why 10 min?
It can be longer or shorter. 10-minute is my personal patience threshold. 😄

unfortunately for android the app doesn't work too well and therefore there is no point in buying this gimbal.
